I see so many different takes on insulation, open screen bottoms etc. I have been doubtful about what to do and always felt that warmth is the best option for the bees. This has tipped the scales for me. Totally agree with your system. Thank you so much!

The Om Tone. Bee wing buzzing create the hexagon shape which extends as sound giving rise to the hexagram. The hexagram or Star of David shape gives rise to the famous Sri Yantra shape which can be produced via 136.1 Hz. Great ideas. After many decades of beekeeping and adapting to the many challenges I've began overwintering in insulated hives; the results have been fantastic! Forty years ago I overwintered in double deeps, but today I use a single ten frame deep made from polystyrene; no upper ventilation. The higher humidity within the hive hasn't proven detrimental; it's just the opposite which goes against everything I used to believe. I've gone from an average winter loss rate of +40% to just %15! And recent research clearly indicates that cold is a major stress factor for colonies. Lastly, research also indicates that the temperature of brood, particularly in its final stages of development, is crucial; if the brood temperature is too low it affects the new worker bees ability to navigate, which in itself explains a lot.

Hi you can sand the razor edge that is the contract side with wet and dry 400 this helps to stop the razor edge digging in to the surface you are scraping Cheers 🍻🥂

im going to experiment with a low contact layens hive with more energetic/black bees. even wild wasps dont attack you unless you really irritate them, and according to the experts most wild wasps are more aggressive than even killer bees are. the worst thing you could do is buy some specially bred docile queen made for a langstroth hive / skep you have to rip apart

I’ve installed these on my hives and it’s very entertaining watching the SHB’s try to get around them. It’s a good design and benefits my bees for sure.

Supposedly the humming vibrations from the wings create the shape and clean the impurities that are put in the cells. We should thank God for these beautiful gifts that live a whole life to create a teaspoon of honey for us. One life span equals 1 teaspoon is what I read.

I had my roofs done like yours. I would pack loose insulation under it for winter. Great for summer air flow and sun reflection

Made a hive from dr Leo's plans, the label roof would have been better. It's so much easier to chek your bee's than the other. A new swarm probably would be better than an established hive moved to one. The front latch is a good idea, mine actually blew open, they didn't like that. So adding a simple latch.

So, why not do Langstroth wide but Layens deep frames? If you are already working with Langstroth top bars and just adding extensions to the sides to make them deeper, just keep their original width. You're making the hives anyway, so you can customize them to any width.

Great video, how many swarms did you catch? Have you tried putting swarm traps out in summer or early fall?
