- I can't stress enough how awesome it is owning an observation bee hive especially in the winter time when you really can't do much fun stuff with beekeeping. I cover some Q's people have asked me about the management of my O-Hives and here you'll see my colony overwintering in their new location.

I learned a lot from this. Thanks for taking the time to make it!
those are some great looking hives
I am looking forward to see you make a Layens observation hives.
Very nice video !
فكرة رائعة جدا شكراً جزيلاً أخي الكريم
We love watching your videos. The observation beehive is fascinating. Thanks for sharing!
Great idea on the new hive design. I look forward to seeing the videos.
Do you sell these observation hives? It’s so educational and would be great for kids!
I am curious, with a 3 frame wide configuration, do you find that the queens stays on the inside a lot and out of sight? Same general question, do you find less brood on the outside of the outer frame?
Once the colony gets stronger, you see the queen and brood rearing on the outside in plain view all the time. It's a lot of fun.
Did you already send your book to the first ten buyers of this hive? If not I want to be one!
Question: Why sugar water and not a solution of honey from a hive?
Just being lazy......your option is better. I'm pretty sure they have honey but just couldn't see much from the looking glass. It's more of an insurance policy than a regular staple for them.
Do you have plans on how you built this observation hive
Ever make an observation hive with layens frames?
I seriously thought about making one, and if I do it will be quite tall. Stay tuned because even when I sleep I dream about beekeeping ideas just like that. Eventually I have to just go and do what ever I keep thinking and dreaming up. LOL!
Enjoying the observation hive videos. I'm planning on doing this, but I've found that information isn't readily available. I've tracked down an out of print book on the subject. Looking forward to more. Have you considered selling the plans?
I'm currently putting together a brief POD video program that teaches you how to operate and maintain your very own observation hive. It's part of the online class that I teach, and you can purchase the entire class or just the specific video on observation hive management when it becomes available.
I thought about making the plans for free, but I also needed a way to support my ongoing free channel and the time I spend creating content, so for the time being I've decided to offer the unassembled DIY kits and low cost online course. I hope folks will find the info useful. Thanks for asking!
