Honey bee rescues are my favorites to watch.
We enjoyed watching you collect the bees. We are learning so much from your videos. Thanks!
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching:)
That's a nice cut out 🙂👍
Thanks for sharing. That was very interesting to watch. I never got a swarm last year for my Horizontal hive, so im hoping to get one this year or maybe a rescue.
Build it and they will come. 4 swarm traps first season,0 bees. 2nd year 6 traps, 1 swarm.
Thanks for sharing
Hey Gene, long time no see or hear. Great job here. Thanks for saving some bees.
My hive is off to an amazing start--varroa free again. I'm amazed--I must be in a really special area because I never have varroa nor SHBs. I guess I'm fortunate. Anyway, I hope to catch my own swarm like this soon. Enjoy the season my friend. Brad
I thunk the March is my favorite thing
Great video
Good golly, it's been a while Gene, Top of the morning to you. Thanks for sharing. Here in central New Hampshire we don't seem to have the feral colonies that you do down there. This is my 3rd year setting swarm traps. Caught 1 last August and babied the strength right into them. Going up to 65 F today and I inspect my Layens for drone build up. They have doubled their brood nest in about 10 days. I think a split is in the near future. Take care, Brice
Right on
Hi Gene, I’m in the UK and have a couple of Layens hives. Unfortunately my 2 colonies did not survive the winter so I was delighted to see your video. It is so nice to see a swarm collection in action. A quick question: when and how did you release the queen from her cage?
PS. I have just seen your answer further down. Sorry. And thanks for posting. Looking forward to more…
Very nice removal it’s amazing Queen wasn’t hurt when they cut down the tree. Is there a reason why you didn’t dump the rest of the bees in the hive instead of on the ground?
It's just easier for me to dump the bees in front of the hive and it mimics what bees will do naturally when they swarm, so it kind of puts the idea in their heads that they are moving out of their old house.
Thanks for the video, when will you release the queen?
I released her the next day
Hey Gene. What size are those rubber bands?
Gene , good to see you once again great video and videos. The picture quality is really good for me. What phone and cameras are you using? Did you keep that portion of the cavity to make swarm scions?
Got an older iPhone, and a canon 70d that shoots HD video. I try to use a wireless mic when ever I remember too. I didn't keep the tree section this time, but kept one from last year as a souvenir
