Kiwi Swarm Catch 2x March 2024

The bees have a new favorite place to swarm onto - my Kiwi vine! In this video I catch one fairly large swarm and upon completion, another swarm arrived on the same vine.

I caught a Wild Bee Swarm in June 2023. This was the beginning of a new challenge, how to work with the bees.
I recently performed my first inspection of the Layens Horizontal Hive (video is on my channel) the bee colony survived the winter without any problems.

I thought that was a Lazutin hive when the video first started. The frames are huge! We only use Layens currently but I am definitely going to get into these at some point. Great video.

I have learned so much watching your videos, and hope to come for a visit some time. In the background, I can see at least one of the insulated Lazutin hives you featured last year (doesn't look like you ever painted it). And, you put this swarm in another. How are the insulated Lazutins working for you? Do you now prefer these to your Layens hives?

Gene, after I don't know how many years, you still have the best intro tunes! Great catch! I know you have another job and it's a lot of effort to produce, but I always enjoy your videos. You have a willingness to try different approaches that is admirable. In fact, although we don't see many small hive beetles up here in New Hampshire, I am rethinking you Layens frame top bar modification.
