Walmart Driver / Private Fleet Requirements
Does Walmart have Inward facing camaras?
Working hard 14 hours shift 10 hrs in sleeper day after day makes some drivers to burn out very quickly.. even driving for WM doesnt make it regular 9-5 job. It's still trucking and it's still life style. So some drivers do not push themselves over the edge. Take a brake, chat to other guys, take some time for yourself. Take care of your mental health. Trucking is mental challenging job if you ve been driving for years..
Health insurance simply sucks here.. I pay for myself and my wife about $380 monthly. After recent visits to doctors we owe now more then $1500 because WM insurance pays almost nothing.. total garbage. They refuse to pay their portion of the bills saying "you didnt meet deductions".. I'm thinking to switch back to 1099 and get subsidized health insurance for me and my family..
1987-89 @19 my 1st 2 yrs as d. Mechanic I 100% agree with ALL of it! Culture, people, food (even BBQ steak) and truck driving rodeos (mechanics included) I placed 3rd 😊 After 6 years O/O flatbed Parked 1 full year now 😡 Sold 2 falls under value. Both trucks for sale under value. 😡 Will they allow passanger/wife with you 100%?
Can't say the same for stores or warehouses (these days) but drivers Always treated like kings and transpiration dept. 100% respect 👏 🤝
So ya avg $2k/wk gross? After taxes an what not $1500ish/wk bring home?
@@RazorHog56 my average gross is a little higher, something like $2300 wk. Your take home will depend on multiple things. I live in NY, the highest taxed state in the nation, and also sink a ton into my 401k and company stock, so my take home is generally less than average.
@getrichwalmart alright apperciate the response. I'm in Arkansas, have grocery WMDC#6082 within 10min of my house im tryin get on WM outta that DC.
i have a question if anyone can answer it for me i got my license about a year ago and i went local to start have about a years exp local no accidents no tickets knock on wood its a battle everyday someone wants to die but anyway i was telling an older driver i wanted to eventually try and work for walmart cause they pay very well and said most otr companies doesnt really except local exp is this the case for walmart does anyone know ?
@@jblue8436 yes they accept local driving experience, as long as it is in a tractor/trailer. One of the drivers I mentored at Walmart came from a local day-cab job.
Thanks for sharing this video very helpful! Does walmart have driver facing cameras?
@@Buffalojack_187 No, only forward facing.
@getrichwalmart I have been with Schneider National for 3.5 years & I applied with walmart otr regional position on June 29 in Palestine Tx! I hope to hear something this week said it would take 10 business to hear something!
@@Buffalojack_187 awesome. Good luck, I have my fingers crossed for you.
You're working 70 hrs a week to make that money.
@@deltoro5346 No, I work about 60 hours per week, as do nearly all truck drivers. And Walmart pays a lot more than most other carriers. So I fail to see your point.
@getrichwalmart I've worked for private fleet. Every d.c is different , but I had a 5-2 schedule and I had to always max my time to 11-14 hours those 5 days, going back and forth to stores, vendors , and back to D.C
Just curious about your opinion about the wal mart a2d program and advice for the new a2d drivers.
@@johnbalukonis9157 I was shocked when I first heard about it. I never thought Walmart would begin training new drivers. I've heard that the A2D drivers, having successfully completed the program, are turning out to be very safe drivers, proving the program is working. Time will tell if it stays that way. I'm all for it unless they start hitting things, bringing our reputation for safety down.
Wassup Rich I just started with Walmart today 🎉and I can’t wait to start my orientation next week I hope to retire here 💯🤞🏾
@@tayguwap9333 Once you are a Walmart driver, you never leave! Good luck!
I just applied and the application takes forever lol anyways I live 10mins from a DC here in porterville Ca I was working for western express and the sub haul for Walmart during the holidays and I was going to the stores and different DCs of Walmart but I’ve been doing Cement mixer driving (tanker) for the past year and haven’t done dry van in over 2 years! What do you think of my chances of being invited to onboarding? Also after applying how long til they contact you?
@@andresnoneya I hope the best for you. Honestly, I'm not sure if driving a cement truck will qualify as experience. They specify tractor trailer experience, but hopefully you will still get in. Let me know how you make out. It can take anywhere from hours to days to weeks for them to call you. It all depends on how bad they want drivers at your DC. Good luck!
I'm heading to Onboarding next week in Dover, DE. Hopefully I get in because I've heard nothing but good things about driving for Walmart. I'll be running out of Lewiston so maybe I'll see you out there!
@@cbinette100 Awesome. Good luck!
Keep those good videos coming 👍
How many miles do you average a week? Thanks!
@@JeffBobUSA 2500 miles average. Weeks with low miles I have higher activity pay. Weeks with higher miles I have lower activity pay. So it all balances out
I just ran across your videos, i have an interview tomorrow. Thank you you explain everything so well!
I just applied, Friday, i failed onboarding last December, its been over 6 months, they told me to apply again in 2 months, hopefully they give me another chance, i will pass with flying colors!

I called the Walmart drivers recruiters directly. I live in Las Vegas, they don’t have anything currently available in my area, but they told me they’ll put me on a waiting list and call when something opens up. I’ve head that before from recruiters. Do you think it’s realistic they’ll call me back?
@@jmar84 Yes it's realistic. I know of some drivers who waited months for the call. However, depending on driver demand it may be some time before they actually call you.
Does walmart have a training program if someone just cdl permit
@@Christopher-2984 no, they only accept experienced drivers meeting certain qualifications. Or they will train associates (Walmart employees) from within the supply chain (stores, Sam's, DCs, etc.) So if you work for Walmart at least one year, you could come in with the permit to be trained if they accept you.
@@getrichwalmart thanks for letting me know
I love it over here Driving for Walmart it's fun to come to work
I wonder how much walmart pays him for these videos. Seems to good to be true😂
@@Philm88 I do these videos on my own time and for free, thank you. Nobody pays me a dime.
I drive for walmart too boss, and it's all facts..the hardest part is qualifying to get the job..the process ain't no joke, but study your engine components, practice your backing skills along with a good mvr and you'll be on board with us too.
the only down side I see is being away from home those 4 nights
Rich i was supposed to been here years ago im mad i waited so long
Can’t wait to apply, just need to finish out this lease. 6 more months! AND COUNTING lol
I definitely plan on applying again. Would love to drive for Walmart.
Go to Costco wayyyy better.
@@vikingguy2434 I don’t live near a hiring area for Costco.
@@Smackyjack440 Gemini fuel hauling for loves is hiring absoulty a great company plus they have sleeper position open 4 day work week, don't go to Walmart its very very hyped I laugh these guys make videos and promote but barely tell the reel story behind Walmart “private fleet” do your research look on redit or reviews you'll see.
I started in January. I have took vacation 3 times already, just got approved for 3 days off for bereavement, im stress free, im bringing home about 3800-4k after taxes every 2weeks, i have an assigned tractor where im the only one driving it, i just got half of my 5k bonus for referring someone, i kinda wish i came years ago, this job is gravy, and i was an independent operator for 17yrs with multiple trucks. Yes i gave more income but this stress is extremely minimal here. But i love this job. And im not just saying this because i work here.
Thinking at 57.. Not a bad place to end.... Up! Is where I Started (after.. farm kid) 87-89 apprentice truck mechanic After 2 yrs auto mechanics college
2 trucks for sell :'(
you are 100% correct, beside a few drivers talk like he knows everything, i love it here!
Great video
id love the 2 hours down time, that way it wont be tight on your time at the end!
why dont you show some of the live trip/driving? Does Walmart not let you have a camera?
@@garytriano13 we can have dashcams, I just don't have one.
@@getrichwalmart can you have a camera on the side for Blindside safety it’s magnetic?
@@garytriano13 I guess you probably could.
@@getrichwalmart thank you. Check your email
I see a lot of bashing of Walmart online. Want to make great money.. Walmart! Want to have a family life.. Walmart! Want to get treated with respect.. Walmart! What's the catch? There really isn't any.. They want safe drivers transporting their freight from the yard to the store. They don't want you to take shortcuts and they will never ask you to.. That's not a bad thing.
Appreciate all of the info - thank you! It sounds similar to when I started driving at Schneider years ago. Same thing there; pay attention and do things EXACTLY like they show you. I have a call scheduled with a recruiter for this coming Monday morning. Wish me luck!
@@DirkTrucks best of luck to you! Don't sweat it too much, you got it
@@getrichwalmart Thanks! I sure hope so. I was on the Walmart dedicated account with Schneider pulling out of the Sterling, IL grocery DC, so I have an advantage there, I would say. I’ve delivered to every Walmart and Sam’s in IL (including city of Chicago), southern WI, and eastern IA. It was my favorite trucking job but the Schneider pay was terrible. Fingers crossed.
Yeah I make Dam good money driving for Walmart.....I do alot of pull ahead loads
I call my DC or the Rock before I arrive where I’m sent (I will not call if I am already dispatched) and ask to be dispatched because I will be arriving soon. Doing that helps me keep rolling. I dislike sitting and waiting to be dispatched. All of Rich’s ideas work as well. You make driving at Walmart the way that you want. The tricks he talked about are so worth it. $$$$
Can you post the Pre-trip in PDF file to start learning !!
@@Sam-ny1ng yes I plan to do something like that, as well as a video on it.
I’m 100% with you about working when I’m not at home. I know a few drivers that shut down early and then take an 11-12 hour break. If I’m not going home, I’m working until I can’t, then I’m starting again in 10 hours and 1 second!
Sounds like a bunch of nonsense 😂 if the private fleet paid so well like the drivers say, why they always hiring? Theres a catch that no body is telling us 🤷♂️
@@Hobo4Life They're always hiring because they're always growing, destroying the competition. With retail, online grocery pick up, and online ordering, the need for drivers keeps expanding. And they aren't depending on 3rd party carriers as much anymore, preferring instead to expand their own private fleet. It isn't rocket science.
and they get rid of the trash.
Also, Making sure you hit arrived as soon as you are in the geo fence especially while you are at the dc’s and doing groceries. Getting that unscheduled time can help rather its 1/2 a hour or a hour, that can add up.
@@longterminvestmentsonly4817 fact
I applied and never got called there....
I’m OTR company driver with the same company for going on 4 years, I have going on 5 years experience (Jan 18 is 5 years) I live on my truck. Wal mart does not have any arrangements like that?
@@monicasink9611 no, it isn't like the OTR life where you can live in your truck. At least I haven't heard of anyone doing that here
Wow! Walmart usa fleet is leaps and bounds different from Canada fleet!
Mr. Rich, I had a question about the 30 months experience requirement. I have been employed by Schneider for 29 months, but because they didn't have enough trainers it pushed out my training time so I have been driving solo for about 28 months. When Walmart reviews my application would they be able to tell the difference? Or should I just wait a little longer so I have 30 months solo driving, even though I have been employed as a driver for longer than 30 months?
@@deebly_goncerned I think they're pretty strict about the 30 months of actual DRIVING experience. That's how it's worded on the application. To avoid having your application rejected, I suggest you wait the two more months.
@@getrichwalmart Figured as much, I've waited this long won't hurt to wait a little longer. I've also heard it's almost impossible to get hired on as a new driver in Florida. From the guys I've talked to you have to get your foot in the door at another DC and wait for an opening to transfer.
@@deebly_goncerned yeah Florida is tough. All these old white-haired Walmart drivers want to transfer down there. Apply as soon as you can and hope...
Does Walmart allow cigarette smoking in the truck?
Smoking in the trucks isn't allowed anymore
This is what has kept me from applying to Walmart. I don't do that seniority stuff for schedules.

I fit all the requirements.. I haven't had a moving violation since 2006. In my truck, i had someone that ran a red light and hit me in 2017 , Thats it. I got 12yrs of driving experience.
