I really like this crew, each one have every reason to distrust each other and they DO! But when you finally get through all that trauma and concern they have with their traveling companions and situation they all turn out to be fairly understanding folks! Theres a reason people enjoy BG3 as much as they do and for me it's easily the character interactions.

I get what they were going for theme-wise, but it would have been more meaningful and made more sense to give Viconia a better fate. She could have been an ex-Sharian who like Shadowheart fit the theme of overcoming Shar's manipulation and instead they just did... this. Very disappointing.

Sometimes it's cool seeing call back characters in sequels. But damn, romance her, turned her good, gave up my godly blood, had a kid, got assassinated but a lolthite. Kinda destroys previous ending choice.

Now that it’s been a year since this game came out and we all have more information to work with, here is why this moment makes perfect sense despite what circumstances show: The Emperor is a selfish manipulator by nature. You may not see this because he only lifts his mask in certain playthroughs where you refuse to believe his ruse, and in that moment he not only bluntly calls you a puppet to be used but reveals that he dominated fucking Stelemane beforehand. No matter how well he hides this fact, it is nevertheless a fact. We also know due to new endings from Patch 7 is that the only reason he doesn’t seek the outright domination and conquering of Faerun, the ONLY reason, is that it would mean war with the githyanki. Noting this, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense for him to even give Orpheus the benefit of the doubt, due to both his plans and that he had been dominating Orpheus consistently. Orpheus is understanding to us, but do you honestly think that he wouldn’t immediately destroy the Emperor, the illithid that used him as a tool? Even if Orpheus can show understanding to the illithid, the Emperor gains nothing but trouble from freeing him anyways, the only difference it makes being that the githyanki that hate his very existence are now as powerful as ever with their rightful heir back. If it doesn’t make anything easier and only harder for it, then the Emperor, logical as it is, has no reason at all to hear Orpheus out or give the player a reason to free him. The telling thing to me is that the Emperor talks about Orpheus intentions like it can possibly know exactly and confidently what Orpheus is thinking, when every other argument he has is built on some foundation of logic. It has no proof Orpheus will kill us, nor does it want Orpheus free, so it will simply manipulate us into thinking there is no other choice.

So they decided to try and imitate the voices of the original VAs for Jaheira and Minsc but just went fucking wild with Viconia? Her original VA is both still alive and active, and one of the most respected VAs. Given how much they spent on and worked with the rest of the cast why not just get Grey in for this? Fucking bonkers. She sounds and acts absolutely nothing close to what she ever is throughout the original trilogy.

Same sentiment, same hatred for all that has gone before that "modern audiences" apparently demand and creators are so happy to supply. The question surely has to be, Why are people nowadays so utterly insecure in their beliefs that nothing must be remembered or held in reverence that could cast some doubt?

If you spare her parents and also romance her then it's clear in the epilogue that Shar punishes her for even loving Tav and as a result she always seems sad whenever Tav is around her.

Great story, great writers, great developers. But, the writers very blatantly either don't want anything good to come of those who make choices they disapprove of (even if you do it to save everyone) or were ordered to write in such a way. The game basically punishes you for being evil throughout the game and in the endings.

weird. At the BG2 ending it's said that Viccy was killed by a Loths followers. Does that mean BG3 is somewhere between BG2 ending and her deaths. Does't seem so.

Stunlocked his ass with astarion ascended monk. Also killed myrkul in one round due to monk stun. Fun stuff

I one turned Ansur with my Durge Paladin/Fighter. Nothing like hitting a motherfucker with 4-5 divine smites in a row, courtesy of action surge. I had a pretty sweet greatsword, too. Can't remember what it was, but it did some pretty nice bonus damage.
