There’s a balance in certain aspects of medical decision making. You want the patient to have as much of a say in their own care as possible, however, certain clinical decisions are made by the medical team. There is therefore a balance needed for many clinical decisions to ensure that both the medical team’s experience on what is best for the patient, and the patient’s own wishes, are taken into consideration.

Congrats Joe! You should be very proud of yourself. My best advice would be to study little and often throughout the year using questionbanks like Pastest or Passmedicine. That way you reduce stress on yourself and you can enjoy all the other social aspects of medicine and uni!

Any building in Pollock halls is a great place to stay. No sure about any other areas for 1st years though.

By dependents, I mean any individual who is dependent on that patient for care and support. This can involve, but is not limited to, children. Age could be seen as a risk factor for many aspects of health. However, you have to make sure that you appeciate this in the holistic clinical context of the patient as age is not the only determinant of health.

Hi William. Thank you so much for supporting the channel! I am in the standard 6-year medicine course. There are around 5 postgrads in my year. I achieved a 2:1 in my BSc (Hons) Medical Sciences degree and applied to medicine while undertaking an MSc Human Anatomy. My medicine offer from Edinburgh was unconditional as I had already been awarded my undergraduate degree. I hope that helps!
