I have an offer for medicine at Edinburgh starting in 2022, so I've found these videos really helpful. Something I wanted to ask you was - at Edinburgh, during the preclinical years, are lectures uploaded online? The reason I ask is that I'm scheduled for surgery during what would be the first term, so I'm wondering if it's possible to stay on top of lecture content without necessarily attending them in person for a couple of weeks (sorry, I'm an overthinker, lol).
Congratulations on your offer, Hugh! I know that when COVID first appeared the pre-clinical years moved to being mostly online. However, I am not sure if they have moved to a more hybrid online/in-person approach now. The best thing to do would be to email the medical school and they would be able to tell you the teaching style for 2022 and advise on how they can accommodate your time off. The medical school are quite flexible, so I would hope they would be able to sort something out. I hope that helps and I hope you have a speedy recovery after your surgery!

Thank you so much! I do know other people who did their intercalation year at other universities, but i’m not sure if it’s situation-dependent. I’m sure the medical school would be able to give you more detailed info about it if you emailed them 🙂 Hope that helps!
