If you're organized as a medical student, is it possible to maintain a fairly regular routine; e.g. getting your work done between 9-5 during the week and then having evenings/weekends off? Or do most medics find themselves having to work evenings and weekends a lot, too?

Great question! When you’re in the pre-clinical years, it’s easier to maintain a regular routine as lectures are usually 9-5 Monday-Friday with no clinical placement. However, i’ve found that I need to be more adaptive in the clinical years as clinical placement can range from a few hours to a 12 hour shift or night shift. You can also sometimes be in on the weekends. I’ve found that the best way to balance things is to make the most of the weekdays to study so that you can really relax on the weekend. I hope that helps!
