The accent is Scottish, I'm from The Isle of Lewis, right up North West of Scotland. I love travelling around Scotland seeing different Islands and ways of life, many for the first time.
I'm single, work 9-5 and travel on my own. I started making videos as a means to show family my Vietnam travels and I enjoyed the editing process, learning a new skill and trying to be creative so much that it's continued. As I live in South Uist on my own it passes time, gets me engaging with people in the comments so I don't feel so isolated.
I'll be vlogging all my travels be it Stornoway or Santorini for you to experience sitting on your sofa but hopefully feeling like you're there. For those who can't travel, I hope my videos help. Thanks for watching and messaging me. Iona x

Arrochar to Oban and way too much in-between. Why it took us 7 hours to get to Oban.
We set off from our hotel in Arrochar at 10am and drive to Inveraray then to Benderloch, a detour to Oban Airport then to Oban, 7 hours later than expected.
If you're looking to drive this route then you might pick up some wee tips along the way.
Remember to Subscribe if you like watching my videos. I'll thank you if you message me. Much appreciated. Ix

The cruise is over but another journey is just beginning. Marella Discovery Disembarkation Day

Watch the ship guys getting us safely to Marmaris pier, thank you so much to them all, they work hard pushing and pulling the ropes, a really important job. Loved watching them doing this manoeuvre. We head to Arrocher in the Scottish Highlands where our next adventures begin. We will definitely be on another cruise ship soo, but for now I hope you enjoy cruising around the Scottish Islands. Is Santorini the most beautiful of the Greek Islands after all? Does it give Mykonos a run for its money? Join us as we tour around 3 villages on a TUI excursion. We wouldn't have seen anywhere other than Thira (Fira) without the excursion, it really took away all the stress of the cable car queue in the morning, runing to find a service bus to take us from Thira to Oia to beat the crowds. We s...
MARELLA DISCOVERY DAY 6: KUSADASI PORT | PIGEON ISLAND| GLASS HOUSE MEAL
Переглядів 1,1 тис.21 день тому
Kusadasi is a busy port and all the shops report the higher prices reflect the prime location they have near the cruise ships. Shops are more expensive here than in Marmaris. This was my first time in Kusadaisi but I won't be looking to return here for a holiday. There are other places in Turkey I prefer. However, I do want to return to The Glass House, and order less and enjoy it more. Enjoy. Ix

Rooms: 8552, 8553 and 8562. Which is your preference and why? This was my first cruise so it'll take a few before I've made up my mind but for now I was very happy with this refurbished inside one on level 8. No noise from outside, very dark so we slept soundly each night. If you're looking at this because you are trying to decide then I hope this has helped a wee bit. Lucky you, let me know wh...

Mykonos was beautiful. I would recommend getting off the ship early as some folk didn't manage ashore who wanted to, perhaps there weren't enough tender boats and by the time their number was called they would only have had an hour on the island, what a shame. We were organised to leave at 9am, but we didn't get on the island until nearly 11am. Let me know what you think of Mykonos, have you be...

September 2024. Join me as I show you around the first cruise ship I've ever been on. This will give you a better idea of the ship and where we were hanging out. From deck 11 to deck 2 there's something to see aboard; usually food related! I've never eaten so much on any other holiday EVER. I will definitely be back on another cruise ship very soon and I'll be looking at the other ships in the ...

Day 4 and an easy day walking around the beautiful Chania. I've been to Crete before but never to a place as beautiful and rich in history as this. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Oh and the shops are...all the same but I do love my salt and pourer combo; I always buy ceramics when I travel. Tomorrow we go to Mykonos, see you there!! Ix

Hey! Today we got the HOHO bus at the port and toured about Athens all day in the scorching heat, stuck in traffic jams and protests. If you can do something else then I would recommend it, maybe walk around piraeus or stay on the ship. If it's not so hot then the Acropolis would be the obvious choice but not if you have dodgy knees. If I had to write-off one port it would have been this one, j...

What you can see in a day from Hanoi
Another great video! I've only driven through Inveraray. I should stop next time as it looks like there is a lot to see there!
@bilingualbackpacker hello yes for sure its a whole day out there, we will need to go back on a day its open and were not against a clock. You need to go see it, it's so lovely. Thanks again! Ix
Some really lovely places you visited that day 😊 Btw, the ferry you boarded in the end of the video, is the former Norwegian ferry called «Utne».
@Trond_travels No Way! Ive just googled it, gosh in '2021, Norled sold the MV Utne to Caledonian Maritime Assets (CMAL) for €6.6 million' It was on the Norwegian Fjorsds before this, how cool is that, but what's even more cool is that you knew that! How did you figure it was the same boat? Super impressed. Now I'll have to do research on all the boats as I'm on them. I guess I never thought about where they came from, I'm used to the big ones we had at home (Stornaway to Ullapool) being built for that passage. About time they bought some more then, any going cheap over there the now?? Thanks again for coming up with great info and watching, appreciated! Ix
@ I’m a ferry geek 😆 Western Norway is packed with ferries, so I regonnized Utne. I’m not sure if there are more ex-Norwegian ferries in Scotland.
@Trond_travels ah you really are then. I hope to come to Norway on the P&O Iona ship sometime next year if I can, I've never been but Ive been wanting to. I'll be on the look out for potential boats, ill try steal one for us over here😂 Ix
@ That sounds lovely. If not, there are direct flights to Bergen from Aberdeen, as well as from Edinburgh. Plenty of boats and ferries over here.
No’s for this, we’re off to Canaries on this one in Jan.
@musgawp Hello, thanks for messaging. You're welcome and glad you came across my videos, good t get a wee peak at it before you go. How amazing, you're so lucky. Hope you have a blast. Is it your first cruise? Good choice with Marella, everything is so easy. Ix
@ not our first, used to sail on Marella Dream but when COVID came along they scrapped it.
@@musgawp ah I heard one of my subscriber saying some companies literally scrapped ships during covid, its unreal how they do that. Id never heard of that one. Let me know what you think of it. Im looking at the P&O Iona for my next one, to Norway, if youve dome that you can let me know. Ix

@wendym-mu5dw Thank you very much, I'm glad you're enjoying watching them and thanks for messaging me to say, this is what I love about my YT channel. I'm just making my Skye plans just now so if you have any tips for me please pass them on, or any requests to show something you missed I'd be happy to get lost to try to find something haha, thats going to happen anyway guaranteed😀. Ix
@IonaMacinnes Oh, Skye planning...how fun! The things I missed, but found out about later are Neist Point, Coral Beach, and the dinosaur prints on Corran Beach, near Staffin. If passing through Mallaig, I've heard great things about Knoydart Pottery & Tea room with great loch views. While there, I did see Mealt Falls / Kilt Rock, Old Man of Storr, and the Quaring. All were breathtaking! It's nice just to discover the cafes and shops along the way....as you know. 😂
Another wonderful video Iona, Truly looks beautiful up there. What a great holiday all round you seemed to have.
@stozy1959 hello, oh thank you so much, it was amazing, really loved it. Nice you're continuing to watch the Scottish ones too, thanks. A fantastic long video Iona thanks to your friend Alina ? for requesting it. Arrochar is a nice wee place that I've been to a few times climbing Ben Arthur aka The Cobbler, it's the nobbly mountain you can just see the top of between two other mountains in your film. Inveraray is nice too, it's a pity you didn't see the castle which is beautiful, nice to see the Vital Spark which i think has been there for years. I've been to Oban a few times, even went just for a curry one time with three friends from Glasgow. I loved the Iona Shop and Marmaris Kebab House haha. The view from McCaig's tower is amazing Thanks again Iona for sharing, all the best, Davie. x
@daviemcf I'll have to go back and see the castle and the jail one day. Oban is a lovely place, it's just such a stretch of sea between us, and we know I like to eat but no curry is worth a 5 hour ferry, ha so I won't be copying you any time soon. Good craic for doing that. Ix
I love watching all your video's whether abroad or at home, they're always beautifully presented...

@alanlister8810 we got lucky with the weather for sure, think we took it back from the cruise with us. The George Hotel looked lovely, nice you got a wee look at it again there ha. Has anything changed would you say, from what you see, and was the Vital Spark boat there then? Cheers, glad you watched this. Thank you again as always for watching and messaging me. Ix
@@IonaMacinnes Nothings really changed much except the first time I visited the Vital Spark was out of the water on the road between Inverary and Lochgilphead. I stand corrected the menu prices have definitely changed for the worse x

@clarespetkingdom3246 Hi Clare, thanks for messaging me and glad you found my channel (and enjoying the craic ha). Oh brilliant you will love it, think the discovery and 2 are pretty much the same so that'll be amazing. This video you watched from Vietnam was fun, loved HCMC. Would you consider going this far? You know what, it wasn't that hard, the difficult thing was timings and booking stuff, like planes and trains to all come together but the travelling alone and doing stuff on my own was great. Where are you from? Have you ever been to the Outer Hebrides? Thats where I'm based and lots of my videos will be from here so maybe you could start your solo adventures up here😁👍 Will you come back and let me know how your cruise went please? Just to make me even more jealous. Thanks v much again. Ix

Hi Iona, a week goes far to quickly when cruising, if you would of told me I'd be going on cruises ten years ago I wouldn't of believed you. I found the food with Marella really good, especially the little desserts, all the staff are so friendly and polite. As soon as I get home I'm already looking for my next cruise.
@PhilHughes-k4e thats right exactly, we all feel the same leaving I bet. Good job too, imagine being desperate to get off a ship cos you didn't like it, now that happens but no idea how, or which ships. Ix

I've loved following your cruise adventures on the Discovery, we came back from our first cruise on Discovery last Sunday. We were on the Ancient Treasures cruise. Arriving into the Grand Harbour in Valletta was amazing but very wet.🌧
@gordonwatson5676 Amazing Gordon, yes I remember chatting and I asked if you'd come back and tell me which was your favourite port. I've never been but I'd like to go for a holiday with all its history. How great. Thanks for that, now Malta is on my to go to list😂 Thats where the Discovery is registered isn't it, Valletta is written on the front of the ship. Cheers, Ix

@tezzah... what a find indeed! So glad you enjoyed the cruise and lets get back to reality for a wee while on Scottish soil, lots more firsts coming up. Cheers the noo. Ix
It has been some cruise Iona and i enjoyed every minute of it although it was sad to see the plane taking off from Marmaris. I can't wait to see the Iona and Mull videos, where will you be travelling next? I wonder if you'll do St Kilda. Anyway safe travels in the future and btw I love your choice of music but maybe a wee Scottish tune now and again, eg The Dark Island, Siubhal sabhailte Eilean I. (excuse spelling).
@daviemcf, 'afternoon Davie, aye I know thats what Id love to have music wise too but Id get in trouble from YT for breaching copyright. I can only use music that has is free from all that. I will ask some band at the next ceilidh if I could use their music some might let me! St Kilda is high on the agenda for April next year. I've been to the pier ready for off a few times then weather prevents it, no space the week after, I'm not free when there is a space and so here I am still waiting. But thats worked out cos now I can show you guys it too, before I wouldn't have been filming it for showing to anyone other than family. Skye will be coming up aswell so that'll be fun! North Harris will be brilliant as there are still villages there I've never ventured to yet. Have you ever been to the 'Dark Island'? Ix
@@IonaMacinnes Yeah I'm sure some bands would let you use their music as it's good exposure for them. It must be frustrating for you when weather prevents you doing a trip after all your planning. I'm looking forward to your take on Skye, I've been there a few times but would love to visit the outer Hebrides someday. I've never been to Benbecula (The Dark Isle), I just love that song and also the ' Mingulay boat song' I look forward to your future videos Iona, all the best, take care. x
@daviemcf Davie, I'll do a video of Benbecula for you to see what the island is like since you've never been & I'm sure a lot of others watching won't have been either. I've been to Mingulay, pretty cool with all the puffins, wasn't on YT then but I'll be back one day for sure in the summer. You've got a great taste in music thats for sure! Cheers. Ix
Loved watching your vlog! Fabulous. We are going on discovery next April, flying to Barbados and sailing back to Palma. 16 days transatlantic and can’t wait. We live in Balloch at the bottom of Loch Lomond and when growing up my family owned the village inn which was then The Lynwood hotel, quite different now. Happy memories and we were there recently and took Dad who is 93 and ran the bar and disco. You really can’t beat Scotland and if only we had the weather.

I loved doing them so I'm very pleased you enjoyed them for sure. Thanks for watching and for messaging to tell me, much appreciated. @IonaMacinnes Hi Iona, I'm from Yorkshire in England. That was quite a journey for you just to get to an airport! Luckily Leeds/ Bradford Airport is just a 30 minute drive for me. Been to Chania last couple of years for holidays, there is a good beach just 15 walk around the corner from the castle where you were. It has restaurants on jetties into the small harbour and also fab beaches just another mile away. Look forward to your next vlog and building up your channel.
@stozy1959 oh nice, Mum and I were in York a few years ago and loved it, Yeah ha that was a journey and a half but I could have jumped on a loganair flight from Benbecula to Glasgow then flight from there (It would have cost me more than the cruise I bet). However, we needed the car after the cruise to do our 2nd week holiday and I went up to Lewis to collect mum, so I went a detour round the houses. You're lucky having international airports near you tho. It's one of the pressures of living on a Scottish Island. Yes the next ones will be good I hope, well we enjoyed it so lets see if I can do them justice on editing. Please come back and let me know how your cruise was, but might hear from you before then anyway. Cheers, thank you😁 Ix
We did this same cruise on discovery back in July .loved it. Far too hot in Santarini we did same excursion as you. Went straight to cable car in thira. No que. Only port we didnt like was Kusadasi felt it was very intimidating walking through market to exit the harbour.we just got back on the ship. I know what you felt leaveing the ship😢😢. Its the crew that make the cruise . We are doing 2 weeks on discovery in june 25 (we only did a week like you) a week not long enough. Loved the vlogs ,bought back lovely memories.
@angelaashpole8931 hi Angela, thanks so much for messaging, glad you enjoyed the cruise vlogs. Oh man alive I can imagine what it was like in July when it was that hot in late Sept. I agree about Kusadasi, I much preferred the walk I did away from the port. The crew were so kind and although everyone says it its so true. Oh you've already booked up again, lucky you, which one is that in June? Yes 2 weeks would be fab but I'll need to zip my mouth closed and be in the gym otherwise I'll need to buy a new wardrobe in Turkey😂😂 Ix
It's been lovely watching you and your mum enjoy the cruise, Iona, and your disappointment at leaving the ship is palpable. Looking forward to your next adventure, though...Cheers!...✌
@markstothard630 onwards we go ha. Yes it Was rubbish leaving but would have been worse to have been coming straight home. Wait till you see where we went after, was amazing and another first for me. Thanks Mark for watching as always and chatting with me. Ix
Many happy memories of the island
@ArtUpex-mk1pk oh that's so lovely, it's a beautiful island. Ix
Thanks Iona, enjoyed the cruise vlogs and your accent 👍
@alanlister8810 thanks very much. Now a return to the Highlands and Islands for a wee while, and the accent gets stronger the further north I go😂 Ix
Booo Hoooo, good morning for one last time, NOT!!! 🤣😉 Now to islands vids.👌 See you managed to squeeze one last shop in at the airport. Curious to know, did you put any weight on?😉 Have a great weekend ladies from the north. X
@ericthearfaviking7579 haha what a laugh, nothing fits me! My jacket I had in the car wouldn't go round my bum, my jeans don't go anywhere near me, but spending another week on the road didn't help matters much, the food well you could nearly taste it in the end of this one!!! I'll just have to wait till spring to get back up the hills and I'll be sorted ha. Oban here we come (via Inveraray & Oban airport). Ix
@IonaMacinnes Haha hilarious, you will soon shift that excess baggage, your stopover looked lovely on way home. Oban is lovely, did the distillery tour many years ago. X
Nice short Iona. 👍
Friday night editing woohoo!! Ix
@@IonaMacinnes You must be busy. 😊
I don't know who was laughing more, the Troublesome Threesome or me?...And knowing your luck I'm surprised the wire fence wasn't electrified 🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣 exactly, that would have been the cherry on the cake for sure! Oh dont...ha! Ix
Wonderful informative video, will be on this ship in 3 weeks time for our first ever cruise. Cocktail time here we come 😁
@GrooverRPM hello, thanks for watching it and messaging. Very glad you found it informative and some use to you. Oh you are so lucky, and you've picked a good one for your first I think. Will you come back and tell me what you thought of it, and tell me which was your fav cocktail, everyone says the mudslides are amazing and if youre not premium all inclusive they're only £3.50 or something cheap anyway. I dont drink coffee so I didn't taste one but they looked fab! I likes the daiquiris and the pina coladas, prosecco...I mean everything really ha! Ix
@@IonaMacinnes actually we've gone premium all inclusive so intend to chalk off as many cocktails off the menu as possible as I don't drink lager anymore. Daiquiri's are one of my faves. We're immensely looking forward to our 2 weeks travelling around the Caribbean and even more so after watching your super video. I let you know how it went upon our return. Take care and once again, many thanks for taking the time to share your journey.
@GrooverRPM haha you're going all in, brilliant well I hope you get round them all and tell me which was the best and I'll have it next time. Imagine 2 weeks cruising around the Caribbean, I'm so jealous. Brilliant, enjoy!! Thanks again. Ix
Will be visiting Piraeus next May on Marella Voyager. Was considering doing an Marella excursion to Athens but seeing your superb video will now do the hop on hop off buses instead. I have really enjoyed all of your cruise vlogs and have found them to be very informative, also your lovely accent has been very pleasing on the ears. Marvellush!
@eddiea4 amazing, Im looking at May for my next one too, but won't be going back to the same ports so soon but how lucky are you going on the Voyager, think that'll be my next Marella one but who knows. I'm glad you're finding my videos and enjoying them, thanks Eddie. Ix
I can imagine you on the Summer Solstice, barefoot, long white robe, a flower crown on your head dancing round the stones , lilting sacred songs..At 3:30 in the morning. (but I'm slightly weird in the head) 🤪
😂😂 haha the reality was Mum and I stuck in a ditch! Your version sounds better tho! Ix
@@IonaMacinnes Turn it into the Scottish Bog Snorkeling Championships, You and your mum will ace it as you're both ditch experts..

Nice video- brought back good memories of my trip on the Discovery last August. I've previously sailed on one of the big MSC ships (Virtuosa) and found it to be more comfortable on the Marella,
@70PaulK Hello Paul, nice of you to message, glad you liked it and the memories. Ah now that's interesting, seeing that big MSC one parked up beside us made me wonder this exactly. Do you know which MSC ship that was, I don't think I could see its name but I know there are a few of them. Ix
A couple of weeks ago I posted about Marella Discovery having sailed on her shortly after she joined the fleet. I promised my impressions of the upgrades of a couple of years ago when we came back from our recent cruise. She did look very good and we thoroughly enjoyed our short repositioning cruise from Marmaris to Palma. We were in a deluxe balcony rather than an outside cabin so there is an element of bias in our views. The staff were as friendly as ever. We will be cruising the Canaries in January on Discovery 2 which is completing her refurb in Cadiz at the moment, sadly delayed by the poor weather in Spain. As this is the sister ship to Discovery, we chose the same cabin location on Deck 7. Lets see the comparison.
@iangill8984 welcome back Ian, yes I remember you were telling me about the capacity of the larger ships like the Odyssey, great you came back to give your impression now. But now you tell me you're going again in January, ha amazing lucky you! So now you can make the comparison between these 2. Glad you enjoyed your cruise, the staff are friendly aren't they. How do they get it so right I wonder, great HR team somewhere. A deluxe balcony sounds fancy, so now you need to aim high for the next one too ha, good for you. January in the Canaries sounds good. Ix
@@IonaMacinnes I will update you after the next cruise. You deserve many subscribers, I will like and subscribe. I remember Emma Cruises and Ben and David starting out so any help is useful.
07:42 that weather forecast is so typical, gotta love the Scots.. In Lancashire we say 'if you can see the hill rain is due, if you can't it's already raining'..
@tezzah... 😂😂 we need to be talking about the weather and the ferries, thats it. What's it like out? Did the ferry go today? Is the ferry going later? Did you get on the ferry? Is it windy next week? Will the very go next Wednesday??????? hahah hilarious! Your hill is a good weather forecast haha! Ix
@@IonaMacinnes 🤣🤣🤣I love your sense of humour, like mine it's wierdly odd but harmless
Brilliant video Of your cruise 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
@margaretkavanagh978 Hi Margaret, nice to see your still here following along with us. Glad you think so, thanks so much. The cruise was brilliant so makes it easier. Will you be watching my next cruise over to Mull from Oban then to Iona? ha. CALMAC cruising at its best! Ix
@ We are booked up for January leaving from Tenerife for our first cruise x greetings from ireland 🇮🇪
@@margaretkavanagh978 I know, you'll need to let me know how it is. 1st cruise, well I wonder if there was anything that I wished I'd brought with me???? I can't think, think we brought just the right amount of clothes and oh yes I brought sandals with me but my feet were so swollen I never got a chance to wear them and they were heavy in my case so that was annoying. Clips to keep the towel on the lounger cos it's windy up top. Oh and straw, a reusable one. They go through so many on the ship it's such a waste I felt, a new straw for every drink. It's getting to the exciting count down stage now! It'll be good craic anyway. Ix

Great videos have really enjoyed watching them all thank you 🙂
@GrahamMacFadyen Hello Mr MacFadyen, where are you from with a name like that? Thanks for watching and messaging me to say, very kind of you. I hope you'll enjoy some cruising around the islands with me again for a wee while, there are still many I haven't been to. Skye in December is surely a great idea😂 Ix
@IonaMacinnes Am from Coatbridge a town around 20 minutes from Glasgow city centre. I’ll definitely be joining you on your future adventures thanks for all your hard work keeping us informed and entertained on your channel 😊x
@@GrahamMacFadyen ah Coatbridge, I know where you are. I used to work in Bellshill and Motherwell for a wee while so I used to see the sign posts. Cool, nice to have you here. Have you ever been to my part of the world? Ix
@@IonaMacinnes It’s a small world right enough with you working in neighbouring towns.I’ve never been to your part of the world yet, must get up there sometime as can only imagine how beautiful everything is x
@GrahamMacFadyen yes but wait til the spring or summer to come, the days are too short now. You can have a wee taster with your feet up watching my videos until then ha! Ix
Loving your videos Iona...Very informative...We did a Greek islands cruise last year..Santorini is stunning but i would avoid the cable car area again if i went back..Its too busy..Queues are too long and can be smelly because of the poor donkeys. ❤
@49blackboab Hello thanks for messaging me! Glad you found my videos and liked them ha. Which was your favourite island would you say? I loved Crete, where we were in Chania was lovely and real, of course Mykonos & Santorini were stunning, but in terms of reality haha, think the latter 2 were out of a fairytale to be honest. I wouldn't do the cable car either, that queue was a joke but we didn't get the option of a bus going down. Maybe they're too scared to take us down the gradient; was bad enough going up! Ix
@IonaMacinnes Hi...we only did Santorini...Mykonos and Kusadasi from Rome. It was a Royal Caribbean cruise but I would consider doing a Marella cruise to see the smaller islands and maybe Croatia as well..🙂
@@49blackboab oh well that was my first one so ill be checking out Royal Caribbean too at some point I hope. We went to Crete and Athens as well, The port for Athens takes all the big ships sure we seen them there so maybe it doesnt matter the size of ship. But try Marella anyway, it's a lot of fun for sure. Where are you from? Back to island hopping for me now for a wee while. Ix
@IonaMacinnes Hi...I am from Glasgow....Living in East Kilbride now...I went on wee break to the Orkney Islands during the summer with a few friends...Always wanted to see the Neolithic history there and it was great..We had good weather as well 🙂
@49blackboab oh aye, @grahammacfadyen lives not too far way from you, I was just telling Graham I used to work in Bellshill and did a course in Hamilton so thats near where you are in EK, gosh this is so funny. Amazing, well I bet you loved it for sure & makes a difference having good weather, brilliant! I was there in 2005 and also went to Shetland, and would like to go back soon (can't believe that is nearly 20 years ago) so if you have any tips for me then please share. I'll probably be on the ferry rather than flying...you know since I love being on boats so much, ha! Ix
That's an interesting video, we were booked to go on a cruise to Vietnam etc in 2020 but it was canceled due to covid, as for Ak47, I fired one in Las Vegas along with other firearms, it lets you know just how lethal those things are.
@honingholes7026 oh no way how annoying is that Covid happened at the wrong time for sure! You know what I'm gutted I didn't do it there when I had the chance but I didn't have enough money, I know it was really cheap too. And can you imagine me, oh no Id probably be too scared or it would give me nightmares so probably good thing I didn't do it. Very interesting place for sure. Ive got footage of my crawling through the tunnel, I must find it and put it up. Do you think you'll go on a cruise to Vietnam anytime in the future? Ix
Hi Iona I have recently discovered your channel and have found your vlogs very enjoyable, you looked like you had a great time on your cruise. Do you have anymore cruises planned?
@PhilHughes-k4e Hello Phil, nice of you to come and say hello and thank you so much for watching my channel. I really enjoy doing the videos and then hearing from people in the comments. We really enjoyed our first cruise so we will do another one for sure, I just have to ask Mum what she thinks😂. I'll need to ask her for the round up video I'll do on the cruise , it'll come next I think. But I'm cruising all over on CalMac so I'll be fine in Scotland for a wee while. Where do you live? Have you ever been on a cruise? I can't believe this was my 1st one, never really appealed so much before. Cheers, happy Saturday! Ix
@@IonaMacinnesHello Iona, I am going on my fourth cruise in December to the Canary islands and Madeira, I never thought I would go on a cruise but tried my first on one on the Marella Discovery a few years ago and loved it, I like how you wake up in a different place every morning, each day is a brand new adventure. I live near the city of Chester.
@PhilHughes-k4e oh brilliant, I was looking at the canaries cruises for December, I'm off in December and was a toss-up between the canaries or the Isle of Skye, and the homeland won so I'll be dragging myself up the Trotternish Ridge while you're enjoying afternoon tea on deck 9, haha brilliant. Come back and let me know what it was like, I'd love to do it. I've never been to Chester, I'll need to check the map. Lovely, well I hope you enjoy some more videos from Scotland and hopeful a cruise early next year! Ix
@@IonaMacinnesI do like the afternoon teas on Marella, the miniature chocolate eclairs are my favorites. I was on the Marella Voyager last October which started in Palma and stopped at Gibraltar, Cadiz, Valencia, Malaga and Cartagena. The staff are so friendly and welcoming aboard the Marella ships I find which makes for a really good holiday. I will watch out for your vlogs from the Isle of Skye and will let you know what the cruise of the canaries was like. Chester was an old Roman settlement, there is an amphitheatre, it's a walled city. xx
That was another nice informative video, we were there on the same day as you, but we went up on the cable car and walked back down the zig-zag, my legs were sore for a few days after and I also slipped and grazed my shin but nothing too bad. We also feel sorry for the poor donkeys/mules that have to work in the heat carrying adults down to the dock, my wife had a bit of a meltdown and told some of the riders what she thought of them. We would have returned on the cable cars but saw the size of the queue which seemed to stretch all around the streets.
@honingholes7026 Hello, oh I'm so glad you're messaging me, thats great. Awe man alive no way, I heard the steps were very slippery and lots of people go for a flyer, good job was not too bad but still a pain all the same. But you'd have been down long before us. People were 100% skipping the queue, so you were better off going down the zig-zag. Was very beautiful wasn't it. Did you enjoy the ship? Ix
@@IonaMacinnes Yes it was a beautiful place, as were many of the stops on our cruise, it was our third time on that particular ship and the second time that we had an aft junior suite so we knew it quite well and enjoyed it. My wife is looking at cruises right now I think that NCL is our favourite cruise line but we don't seem to have anything with Newcastle flights and we'll maybe need to go to Manchester which is easy compared to the travel that you need to do. I let you know if we book anything.
@honingholes7026 oh aye, please do. Brilliant youve done a few already, I'm not surprised you go back on this one, its so good cos its 'small' compared to others, has all the gratuities included and you dont really need money for anything on the ship, I love that. But ive read that NCL is fabulous so maybe we will jsjt have to try that one out. I do want to go on the P&O Iona one of course ha, have you been on the Iona? We can get that one from Southampton but thats a long way for us. Ix
I've enjoyed our cruise and I didn't even have to pack! I'd have loved to smell Greece again though, for me it has this distinctive smell, it might be oregano. The cable car wasn't there when I passed by and I wasn't going to use donkeys so I never got off the ferry there, just admired it as we sailed by. I don't even think cruise ships were a thing then for the Cyclades. That was lovely that the crew got applauded, what a great idea. Looking forward to being back to misty Scotland!
@vivellasmum great and no washing either haha, hello, hope you're well and having a lovely weekend. To be back in Greece isn't it! We were very fortunate not to see any donkeys but we know they were there in that scorching heat, dreadful cruelty. Oh well Scotland it is for the foreseeable, great! Ive had quite a few firsts since Ive been back so im looking forward to sharing with y'all. Cheers. Ix
