Both lovely areas of the Outer Hebrides, I envy you living there Iona. Great video once again, thanks for sharing your beautiful home land. The stuffed otter, I tend to agree with you lol. 🙏👍
@garovattlovatt193 👍😃 yeah but you know what, I’ve re watched it myself and I think it’s one of my favourite videos. However, the sound is all over the joint isnt it. Awe I didn’t even notice it then, but I’m glad you enjoyed it as much as I did making it anyway. Cheers again😁 Ix
Fabulous video! I've been to a lot of the islands but not this group yet. I'm planning a trip in April/May. Now I'll spend the rest of the afternoon watching your other videos!
@bilingualbackpacker hello, oh nice of you to come say Hi and im glad you found a video that you enjoyed here, cool. Yes the islands are fabulous so I bet you'll be looking forward to spring. Good months to see them for sure! Where are you from? Ix
@@bilingualbackpacker no way, I studied in Hamilton and then worked in Bellshill & Motherwell for a few years just before Covid, left in 2020 to move back home. Lake District is beautiful isn't it. Id like to see more of England but Ill se Scotland first if I can. Heading to Skye in December for a week. Hope there's snow on the mountains. Ix
Thanks for the lovely video, Iona. Seven of my cousins were there just ahead of you last week celebrating our Gran, Alice MacKillop who was born in one of those stone and thatched houses. You probably walked in their footprints! I'll pass your video on to them.
Hi Robin, gosh that's funny I wonder if there a few Mackillop's from Berneray, I know ones who have moved to Australia, are you related I wonder? Glad you found it and enjoyed. Do you visit? Ix
Sadly I've never been Iona. I live in Canada now so its difficult but never say never. My Gran was from Borve, Berneray and was one of 10 children of Neil Mackillop and Marion Macleod of Berneray. She then went on to have 10 kids of her own so I'm one of 17 cousins on her side of the family and I assume there's many more 2nd cousins around!
Goodness me your videos of the Outer Hebrides bring back so many memories for me. My late husband and I had the most wonderful holidays over there and I'm very glad that I took video that I can watch now that he's no longer here. I shall look forward to your North Uist one eagerly. Thank you, I'm so pleased that one of your vlogs appeared in my YT feed, I can now follow you around the Isles.
Hi Uffo, I'm sorry to hear about your husband. Isn't it nice that you have the memories and videos as you say and good you experienced the islands with him. I'd like to look back on these with fond memories, although I'm doing it alone I meet lovely people as I travel. Thank you for messaging me and I do hope you enjoy the North Uist one. The Berneray West beach will be up first then that one. Ix
Ah you're in Wales, fabulous. I couldn't see the flag for some reason it was black and is back to black again now. Oh I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for messaging to say. You'll need to book a wee trip up to see it and hear and smell it in real life for yourself. Ix
Just subscribed and watching your vlog the noo , we're just back from Barra and have a wee you tube channel as well ...nice tae see another wee channel 😊🏴
Hello, great thanks so much. I've just had a wee look at your Barra one, Im heading there on Saturday for a cycle around the Island. It's a beautiful place for sure. Subscribed too. Ix
Lovely video. Howmore is such a lovely spot. Just a clarification though, there are cooking facilities in the extensive kitchen, as well as more showers and a living/dining space in the building that you didn't go into at the hostel. There's a woodburning stove in there too. A shame you didn't make it into that building too, as it really is lovely, cosy, and has all you need. There's a video I made attached to my profile :)
@AbsAnon hello, thanks for watching and coming to message me. You are so right, you know it was after I realised. I'll have to have a look at your videos. I'll be seeing the hostel again so I might make a re-take haha. Are you from Uist? Cheers, thanks again!
@@IonaMacinnes ah, that's great you get to go back! Sara (the warden) is a friend of mine. I'm not from Uist, but I've spent a lot of time in the Outer Hebrides, and am actually hoping to move out there next year (although probably Harris)
@AbsAnon ah right Bristol, so thats a big move, jeezo. I'm from Lewis and my parents live in Stornoway, I'm there a lot. I was just thinking moving to Harris is ok cos good access to cinema, and amenities that you sadly don't get on others. Ix
Very proud to be mentioned in one of your terrific videos Iona! This channel should have a million subscribers! My pal who is originally from Paisley said he had to go out and buy some tissues because he was so emotional after watching your content 😘
Thank you so much for such a lovely message and compliment. I'm happy that those who do watch are enjoying it and Im away to buy a contraption to dampen the wind noise which should improve things in the future. Tell your pal I feel for him if he's a wee bit homesick, nice of him to watch my video too. Ix
@@brucemcintosh7466 she's so good! I watch another couple of Scottish vloggers, they have competition! Tbh there's so many people love this sort of thing, we can't get enough!
Helloooo..having watched many vids of my homeland (currently in exile myself in the south), this lady’s content is a pleasure, too many UA-camrs use too many superlatives for an average scene, however, the sound quality needs looking at, in the wind it’s almost impossible to hear clearly..but lovely vids all the same😊
@aleckelly2706 Hello to you, nice of you to message I’m glad you watched my wee video. Are you from Eriskay or up South as they say? Well after this video I got a new microphone so away and watch…mmm let me think which one you might like either the Eigg or Muck one and see what you think. Your comment is lovely too by the way, I appreciate it👍😃 Cheers. Ix

What a lovely video Iona! You're really good at this! Did you say in your last video that you live in S. Uist? Is that your accent? I was thinking you sounded even more Northern, Shetland even but I know nothing 😂 I love all the bits of history, it's fascinating & I'm obsessed with the Hebrides, Orkney & Shetland, all the isles in fact. I think you'll pick up followers fast, what you're making is so enjoyable! ps I'm glad they didn't catch a salmon, that's very sad.
Hi Vivellasmum, you're right, it is more Northern! I'm from the Isle of Lewis so that's the accent. What your comment has done is made me think I should write in the 'more about this channel section' and inform people where I'm from and what I'm doing (going round the Scottish Isles, many for the 1st time). I'm so touched by your lovely message, thank you. I'll be visiting the Northern Isles too, was lucky to have visited 20 years ago but it'll be all changed now. Have you been? Ix
