    We were on our first week when you were on and we were at the end of your corridor in an aft junior suite (8588), it's the second time that we've been in a junior suite and we've come to the conclusion that for the extra money that we paid £2000 over two weeks that if we go back on the Discovery we'll probably get an indoor cabin because whenever the sun wasn't on our balcony we would go down to deck 4 and sunbathe. There were always loungers for us in that area and it was nice and quiet, it was also handy for drinks as it was just outside the atrium lounge. I like your videos.

      @honingholes7026 good evening, nice of you to message me, I wonder if our paths crossed on the ship, did you see a crazy Scottish girl with the gimble and a pink hoodie running about the place haha....if you did it was my Mum😂
      I was thinking about the sun, when we were tendering back from Mykonos there were folk on their balcony but the sun wasn't hitting that side of the ship. Its a nice wee saving to stay inside and as you see its not bad at all. Luck you being on it for 2 weeks, enough time to get to know the ship well. Deck 4 was lovely jsut outside the atrium lounge, but i think we only went out there on our 1st night when it was all just sinking in. The bonus of filming it, we can look back and remember what/where/who and when, ha sounds like a game of cluedo. Im glad you like my videos, I'm enjoying the chat and the whole process.
      There were ice buckets in the junior suits, did you get this delivered if you requested it? Ix

    Great vlog, really informative. We've had a couple of past cruises, all balcony cabins. We have another upcoming, and as we are going to northern Norway and the Arctic circle, we booked a Seaview cabin for the first time. However ......... cruise company called a couple of days ago to ask if we'd like to upgrade, and we succumbed for a junior suite. 😅 we promised ourselves we wouldn't do this. Keep vlogging. You're a treat to watch.

      @christinegodley hello Christine, nice of you to message, thank you. Oh wow that'll be amazing and you might have the northern lights from your balcony (fingers crossed). Now if I was doing this cruise or Alaska I would have a balcony, because there might be something different to see. Haha they call and I bet it's hard to say no if it's a half decent price.
      Thank you for your lovely comment, I really love it and editing in the evenings and weekend passes the time for me and when people message me like this it's so lovely. I'm learning all the time. Ix

    Well we did 2 cruises in a year and never since (2007). The first one was cut price as booked 2 weeks b4 sailing & when we arrived we'd been upgraded to a window room which was lovely although it was never really clean enough to see much. 2nd one was more expensive as booked in advance so no window. I must admit I liked the window, knowing if it's day or night, but really it doesn't make much difference, I wouldn't pay extra for it. If I go again I'll always book last minute, it was SO much cheaper, I think we paid more than a thousand pounds less than the friends we made who had no window, we paid £600 & had a window! Hardly fair. Loving all this, making me nostalgic 🤗

      @vivellasmum I would love to be last minute but I need to have holidays in for work etc, plus the cheaper fares are never flying from Glasgow so I'll never get a good deal sadly...but I'll keep looking for sure. Good for you tho, bonus getting an upgrade too! Was it all inclusive or did you have to pay for dining on top of that? Kusadasi and Santorini to go then its back to wellies and rain coats! Ix

      @Didderly I don't know how I filled my time without it now, wish I'd started it ages ago. Haha, yes it's been a wild weekend up here in the Hebrides.
      Enjoy next week!!! I’m so jealous. Ix

      @@IonaMacinnes Yeah I started doing some years ago but changed my comp' and couldn't find an easy bit of software to get going again. I have 100's of hours of footage taken over the years. Looking forward to going later this week, haven't been away since August 😂😂😂😂 x

      @@Didderly haha August😂 thats terrible! Hope the packing is underway now, all the elasticated shorts and baggy t-shirts required.
      Well I got a new computer for xmas from my parents that has a movie editing app so I'm using that one, it's free and easy to use, but the computer was expensive in the first place. All that footage, shame not to share isn't it but good memories for you. Ix

    I'd go for a balcony room on longer trips but for a short cruise an inside wouldn't bother me, I can still sit out on deck if the weather is nice. The plus of a balcony is sitting with a coffee in the morning or a cheeky Vodka in the evening. Iona? if there's an ice bucket were there ice machines near the water stations?

    • @IonaMacinnes
      @IonaMacinnes  29 днів тому +1

      @tezzah... Yes exactly, maybe if it was to Alaska or somewhere with something to see, I agree. Oh now I'm going to have to go to Alaska to see if it's worth it 😂😂
      I've asked someone else who commented re the ice buckets. There were no ice machines anywhere so they've come from a bar. Lets see, I'm investigating..... Ix

    You sound like you're trying to convince yourself .Not for us , we only cruise with a company called SILVERSEA 6 STAR LUXURY.

    • @IonaMacinnes
      @IonaMacinnes  25 днів тому

      @JaneGoff-z5w oh now that sounds amazing, I would love that for sure, 6* . Where do you sail from? Would you not try Marella just to see or do you know already you wouldn't like it. It's interesting how some love and others dont. No no, I'm open to all cabins as I said but cost v cruising at all then inside will win. I wonder if I could afford an inside on a SILVERSEA ship, but I guess they won't have any inside cabins. Thanks for this tho Jane, love the chat here. Where are you from? Ix
