Thanks Peter, nice to hear from you again, Glad you liked it. Hope you have the beautiful scenery and not the sound of the seagulls in your head trying to sleep, they are something else! Cheers. Ix
We are so lucky to live here in Scotland with such beauty surrounding us. I have thoroughly enjoyed every one of your trips with little snippets of local knowledge and stories.
Arent we! It's so much easier travelling around a calmac ferry than hanging around airports for hours on end as we do looking for some sun. Happy you're watching and enjoying, thanks for messaging to say. Ix
Couldn’t sleep so went onto UA-cam and see you have just posted this one - so let’s learn about muck - thanks it’s a great education into learning about the islands , cheers now.😊
Hi @roddymcniven8734, thank you for messaging, plenty more islands to explore for the first time so I'll be sharing them all with you. Slàinte right back at you😀
@ericthearfaviking7579 Hello, so nice getting messages from new people watching my we videos, thank you. You should definitely put time aside to do them, good idea! Ix
Yeah and they have a bunkhouse too which I didn’t see but it’s lovely I believe, spoke to the guy whose wife runs it. It’s great and you must eat in the cafe for sure! Haha brilliant you’re going. Ix
God,this takes me back about ten years when I visited Muck, there was seven of us who hired a cottage down the Rhu rd, Arisaig, it was one of the best weeks ever experiencing wildlife. At the cottage we had pinemartens during the day sitting on a wheelie bin for ages, we could see them but they couldn't see us....we took loads of photos of them. At the back of the cottage there's a hill about forty feet high and once you reach the top there's this flat land with red deer everywhere....it was amazing to see. We went on boat trip to Muck on Arisaig man Ronnie Dyer's Shearwater boat where we saw Minke whales, basking sharks, porpoise, and dolphins....what an experience. When we arrived at the cafe we had meals outside on a gorgeous sunny day like yours Iona, the meals were very tasty then we went along the road for maybe half a mile where we saw one of the most beautiful views ever of Rum, Skye and Eigg....it was super stunning!! Thanks again Iona.....keep up the excellent work!! x forgot to say we saw a golden eagle at Loch Ailort.....didn't see any otters! 😂
@daviemcf oh thanks for that, love it! If you'd said you'd seen otters Id have been mad tho😆. The Shearwater still goes from Arising but Im not sure to all the small isles. That sounds like a great week, spying on the wildlife and how good the minke whales and the rest, think youve seen all thats in the water around there, it's amazing to see. Im just reading about people heading to the Caribbean for cruises in the winter asking what the chances of seeing dolphins, Im telling them to cruise between the islands in the Summer and early autumn and you'll see a few. Yes that view from Muck over the others is awesome, I could have stood for hours admiring it. Oh good to see an Eagle too, happy days. Id like to go back maybe in a few years once Ive covered all the other islands. Glad you enjoyed it. Ix
@@IonaMacinnes MV Shearwater will safely transport foot passengers to an from the spectacular small isles. The skipper will often pause to enjoy any marine wildlife along the way. There are several crossings each week to the islands of Eigg and Muck, with additional sailings to Rum, Canna and Loch Coruisk on select Sundays throughout the summer months.
Hey Dunk, haha thats hilarious, feel like I'm never off them. This week's video will be delayed a few days as Ive got another festival and just back from a trip to Barra but be back on track thereafter. Cheers, Ix
@oupintu2071 ah Pete haha good ro put a name to the other name ha. No I know but if I’d made better choices perhaps I’d have seen the puffins, imagine how cool. Anyway, it was so fun all the same and lots of puffins coming soon I hope. Ix
Thanks for another video, Iona. So is the senior member of the MacEwen family known as Lord Muck?😁 I'm also intrigued by the birds @17:00. are they Ptarmigan or Grouse or just domestic chickens?
I wonder if that's where 'Lady Muck' comes from, I must look that up. I think I've been referred to as that before, haha no idea. I thought I had seen a pheasant there too but they look too small do they? They weren't chickens as far as I could make out. It's so funny trying to work it all out haha. Cheers, plenty more coming so catch you later. Ix
Which is best?.....that's too hard a question! They're all great! Having seen the small Isles from Skye & the mainland it's great to see them "in the flesh". Your new microphone is much better. Hoping you'll be filming more Scottish adventures soon. Thanks for sharing. 🙂👍
@markp7745 aye it is better isn't it that's good, what a difference. Yip, Barra, North Uist and South Harris will be coming soon I hope. Thanks again Mark. Cheers, Ix
Oh so hard to say which video I liked best, I'll have to watch them all again! (I will anyway). Your wind muffler is working brilliantly! Sad story of this little island, it's like the owners packed off the inhabitants and now hardly anyone left. I'm so glad people do choose to stay on these isles tho I guess the youngsters must leave to go to uni & possibly never come back. Another absolutely brilliant video, now where will you take us next? If you went for a walk anywhere & took us we'd be happy!! Don't forget that, you don't need to spend a fortune on travel!
haha, I like exploring new places so until ive exhausted all the Scottish islands that's your menu for the foreseeable. More on the Outer Hebrides then back to the Inners again. Ive already been to North Uist and South Harris exploring new things for the first time so they will be coming soon. I love filming and the editing process, all new skills to learn. Thanks for hanging in there with me, Ix

@bilingualbackpacker `its a rode one I got, see if you watch the end of the Balranald Nature reserve video I show the box it arrived in at the end of that. No idea what it's called but it's pretty decent for what I do with it I think. If you can't find it let me know I'll see if I can see where I bought it, probably Amazon. Ix

@jesoneswift1471 ah ok I see. Well plenty walks and boat tours from there, nice place for lunch and easy to get to North Uist, Berneray and Benbecula. A good base I guess for a 3 week holiday. Oh well you'll see where I visited pretty soon. Lots of history around boats in Grimsay. Ix
