Just documenting my memories. Been on this running phase of life for quite some time now, but you'd occasional see gems of other types of videos.
Thanksgiving & Turkey Trot 2024
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a good one. Sorry, the title in the video says September, but for sure it was not September! November!
Also I realized in the video I may have stated a lot of things I'm grateful for, but in a nutshell -- just grateful to be healthy and have people around me supporting me.
A VO2 max session workout in prep for the CIM race next week that I plan to race in and I'm excited to see what I can do there. We are 9 days out!!
Enjoy the video of the Turkey Trot! Tried out this Go 3s feature too. Pretty cool, but takes so long to export from my phone...

Dad's First Marathon | Istanbul Marathon 2024

My dad's done it! He ran his first marathon and is now officially a marathoner, another one in the Ma family! Big accomplishment and he was able to do it before he turns 65 years young! Just 18 days shy until he turns 64, and he made it. Glad I was able to be a part of his amazing accomplishment and I wish him a healthy lifestyle and more accomplishments to come! Very happy for him and so happy...
Kodiak 100K 2024

Oh man. This was one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life. It's been a week and I still can't believe I ran a 100K. This really tested my limits. Glad to have experienced this and I had loads of fun on the trip spending it with none other than Aaron and Justin. Would I do this again? Maybe...this one hurt...give me a few weeks to fully digest what I just did 😵. Big thanks to all the ...

Lukas's first race at the Runnin' Scared Toddler Trot 2024! It was about a 100m trot and he did it all on his own, what a beast. The little rascal is starting young, watch out! Thanks Tif and Nate Diep for inviting us to come support. So proud of the little guy! September 28th, 2024
Noble Canyon 50K 2024 | My First Ultramarathon
Переглядів 8472 місяці тому
I'm very new to this distance, especially on the trails. Was not expecting that much of a mental battle here to be involved, but we got it done. My very first ultramarathon race I've taken a part of. I definitely underestimated this distance and though relatively short compared to other ultras out there, this was one of the most difficult races I've ran. Learned a lot from this race and even go...
Santa Monica 10K Classic 2024

I'm back at the Santa Monica classic this year and it hasn't changed much from a weather standpoint. We were hit with a pretty big heat wave so some changes were made in this year's 10K, but still had loads of fun with friends. Happy to see and meet some more people this time! I always love looking back on last years race videos and see how far we've come. I'm so happy to always capture these m...
Mt. Baldy Run to the Top 2024

Approaching some training peak weaks for the Kodiak 100K in October, and what better time is it to take a visit to Mr. Baldy. He's a feisty one and him and my calves definitely always scream at me everytime I go take a visit. It has also dawned on me that my first summit of Mr. Baldy was back in 2018. Crazy how far along it has been since then. As always, was an awesome run with the boys. Dista...
Harding Hustle 30K 2024

A last minute sign up for a 30K trail race as a long run for the 100K training block! Another nearby trail race, and I thought it was quite representative of what I'd imagine most trail races to be. It was nice, quiet, peaceful, and sunny. Didn't go all out here, but treated this more as a training long run and trying to keep my heart rate in control. Enjoy! Another shoutout to the running crew...
Grandma's Marathon 2024 | Recap | Sub 2:50 Attempt
Переглядів 6 тис.4 місяці тому
I had not been back to my birth state until now and it sure gave me a "warm" welcome, and oh man...WHAT A RACE. Had the race of my lifetime at the Grandma's Marathon so I went off yapping a little bit more in this recap. But the TLDR is: I finally did it and I'm happy. After the previous two "failed" marathon attempts, it just made this attempt that much sweeter and fueled me that more to becom...
Banff Half Marathon 2024 | ft. Runs & Banff Tourist Attractions

These videos just keep getting longer and longer. There's so much memories made on this trip and the video length is evidence for that haha. Hope you guys enjoy and don't get too bored of our weird behavior. Glad to have spent this time with Aaron, Justin, and Sarah. This was my first time at Banff and actually Canada in general. My Americaness is not used to the metric system, but I'd say I ev...
Whiting Ranch Trail Race 30K 2024

Wowow, forgot how fun trail running could be! This was my first time actually trail racing and happy to have done it nearby where I live. Despite doing a 10K trail race before at Griffith, which was at an easy effort, this race was a pretty different story. This brought me back of similar efforts that I had to put in during my time in the Swiss Alps, and I really missed this vibe. Certainly won...
OC Half Marathon 2024

And another one! It's been a while since my last Half Marathon race (I think it's been a year?) and I've realized again that half marathons are sort of on the cusp of discomfort yet comfort. Doesn't hurt like a 5K or 10K, but it's almost there. The distance is quite "just right" for me as well. This is the second time in a row I've ran this half and I think I might make this an annual benchmark...

The Orange County 5K 2024! It's pretty much an annual thing for the family now, which I'm happy to say that all members of the direct family has joined the race. And in light of Mother's Day this year, I'm also so happy for mom finishing her first race and sticking through. Big shout out to all the mothers out there. Ya'll truly the MVPs! Happy Mother's Day! Enjoy the annual OC 5K vibes! May 4t...
Big Sur 21-miler Weekend 2024
Переглядів 1,2 тис.6 місяців тому
A BIG and fun weekend spent at Big Sur with the crew and many more!! This was by far one of my favorite trips that I've taken and I'm so happy to have so many friends and family join us this time at Big Sur. Some mishaps during the rainy season caused some unsafe conditions along the usual route of the 21-mile and marathon distance so the route was changed to an out and back. Was looking forwar...

just saw your name on the turkey trot race also😅
What an amazing and impressive marathon! Congratulations 馬爸爸😊. I’m so moved by the bond between you and your family. Well done on the video. Good Chinese subtitles 😊
Good luck at CIM!
Bone broth is the way to go 👍🏼That is a very cool medal! And the real time running stats in the video!! What!! That is so cool!!
Happy Thanksgiving Alvin Ma. Grateful for friends like you and Aaron. All heart~~~❤❤❤
I just saw your November - September correction in the comments...... I had to rewind because I wasn't sure what I saw...lol 🤣 Great video and great running Alvin. Good luck at CIM!
I was there for their 4th of July 5k. Wish I could've went there this year but went to redlands. Hope you had fun there, I'm heading to CIM as well, not going for a BQ as I was injured back in September and barely got back to fitness beginning of October. Just finishing CIM and get sub 3:30. Hoope to see you there Alvin, your amazing and don't forget that
Watching this before CIM 2024 <3
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 we have a new member of the marathon family!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Amazing Alvin, congratulations, every race is a mental fight! Glad you finished strong 👍
PTL ! Very proud 05:57:58 for 42.195 K ! Best wishes in your journey 😊 !
Your parents are so cute! Congrats to your dad!!!
Papa Ma's a man of his word And congrats to Aaron for beating his goal by plenty of seconds
Love this so much Alvin!! Your Dad was a trooper and is now a Marathoner!! Love the family dynamics and how you highlighted it.
Wow, what a trip, amazing
Great job Mr Ma!! 🎉
Such a cool way to document this milestone. Congrats Papa Ma!
Well done! Thanks for including the names and addresses of the restaurants you went to. I'm signed up for 2025.
Just discovered your videos! Love them. What camera do you use for filming primarily?
Thanks! I use the a7siii, but during the actual runs I either use the GoPro or Go3s!
Great video! I’m considering doing the Disney half marathon next year.
Inspired me to sign up for my first 50k! Calico trail 50k next year
Love the content brotha
Oh man…congratulations Alvin and to Justin and Aaron!! The video got me a little emotional when you were searching for the motivation to keep running. I’m so glad you did 😊. Well done on another quality video! I was so inspired watching it that , for a fleeting moment, thought about running a race like that. That’s how good the video is!!
very wholesome
Dude…you know as well as I do that I’ve been following you for a while. Seeing the title made me put the video on the TV, and my wife and I enjoyed watching this as we ate dinner. Best editing yet! Loved the axe throw shot lol. Seeing you work so hard at this, seeing you, Justin, and Aaron all come together to do this thing. Won’t lie man, seeing you guys cross that finish made me, a total stranger, so emotional. Couldn’t be more proud of you! Congratulations on achieving this goal, and achieving your dreams. Looking forward to seeing Alvin - The 100 Miler. All the love bro.
Congrats, Strong & determination. Incredible success 100k in 13:05:14 accomplishment!
Super happy for you. I think you may have unfinished business in the mountains! Looking fwd to running together more now. Welcome back to All Heart, Alvin!
Awww yeeee. You and Justin are insane. It was truly an honor and privilege to witness y’all cross the finish line first hand after hours and hours of trails. Always a core memory going on runcations with y’all 😊.
I can’t believe we did that!! The weeks of training we endured led to this moment, and we did it. Glad we pushed each other on and motivated each other to make it to the end. Aaron is the MVP!! So relieved we don’t have to train for another one lol!
Congrats Alvin 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼. What a great accomplishment 👍🏼. But Aaron also deserves a shout out 🙌🏼🙌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 he is a trooper.
So grateful for all your videos! They really inspire me. Signed up for my first half marathon after overcoming health issues. Keep running, keep filming, thank you for sharing your experience!🎉 congrats on 100k!
This was amazing, Alvin! What an incredible journey and achievement to document! Love the visuals and editing as always.
excellent work and congrats on pushing through to the end and nice rainbow spread of gels there
always love the high quality and super inspiring videos. also wanna say thank you, i saw you cheering at long beach which gave me a boost of motivation to finish that race! keep doing you
Well done Alvin. Way to persevere!
Great video and awesome run. Keep going!
Definitely not just you. Anyone that I end up running with for even a short amount of time I feel a connection/bond with and I look to give them a fist bump at the end if I can find them!
Awesome video thanks for all the insight!
You did a great job regrouping after getting lost, and still ran a very good time! I love this course, and you captured it very well. Thank you and good luck at Kodiak!
nice rocky first ultra. and excellent thumbnail
Congrats on the 56km Ultra Alvin!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙈. Lots of new learning experiences, but you still persevered 👏🏼👏🏼.
Great job Alvin!!! One of many reasons I don't run trail ultra's...getting lost.
Thank you!! And understandable! xD
Good stuff dude! Just did my first 50k ultra a few weeks ago and while I expected everything I went through, it didn't make the "low" any easier around mile 27/28. The elevation & terrain is whole different beast compared to road running marathons. Hopefully I'll see you in a future race sometime !
So inspiring Alvin! I’m doing my first 50k in two weeks after a year of training for it. Congrats man - been awesome watching you from 100 subs til now. Keep putting out the great content, and may you have many more blessings and successes in your running journey!
Thank you!!! I still remember your comments, truly appreciate it! Good luck on the 50K!
So stoked for you, Alvin. (and Aaron too!) Amazing achievement, can't wait to see the 100 as well. I have my first half in 2 weeks, the Disneyland half in Feb and then (my first 😮) Eugene marathon in April. Maybe I'll see you out there somewhere. I watched the Disneyland race from last year, will you be doing next year's? Thanks for making such high quality race content, I enjoy and appreciate it.
Thanks Colin! Nah, the Disney half was probably a one and done experience for me haha. Good luck on your first half!!!
Man and I thought my bonus 0.5 miles was rough 🤣. Killer grit to power through 4 unplanned bonus miles on top of 31 through that heat, elevation, and rockiness!
Great recap. I will run this year 2024 . Is the first have easier than the second?
Same! See you there! By nature of a marathon, I think the second half is always harder haha. But if you're saying just by course profile, I think so imo!
@@alvinma2460Hi Alvin, great to see your insight of CIM. I am doing that in next month too and hope you can provide some more info regarding to the "rolling hills" on the first half of the course. Are they long and steep hills or just a lot of back-to-back up and down to invite runners to run too fast than planned pace? Since you mentioned that you already had the negative splits plan, was that still not enough? Good luck to all your races.
@@stevewang2012 Nah, I don't remember them being steep at all. Just enough to notice, and the frequency of it got a bit jarring. I also went out way to hot in the beginning hence just falling apart in the end so I couldn't negative split
Like your video style! I ran too but unfortunately didn't make it to the front and ended up in wave 2 so was dodging people the entire time. Was a real bummer they moved the 10k to the 5k course and crammed everyone in there! Nice job!
Love watching the recaps!! Thanks for sharing!
We beat the heat 😂 great racing with the crew!!
