After spending several months recovering from a ruptured Achilles, I recently got into the amazing hobby of Airbrush Painting Fishing Lures as an additional way to satisfy my fishing addiction when I am not on the water. With the encouragement of my family and friends I have decided to expand my new hobby and started this channel; RaggedEdgeLureWorks where I will show how I go about painting and finishing various Fishing Lures in a multitude of Patterns, some planned out in advance and some done by experimenting with colors as we go, flying by the seat of my pants.
I hope you will follow along and hope seeing how really easily it is will encourage you to grab ahold of the things you enjoy and make the most out of them.
I do intend to fish with the lures I paint but that content will be sent over to my original Channel @ Buck Tales Outdoors

Painting a Brown Trout Parr
In this video I try to paint my version of a Brown Trout Parr (Young Brown Trout) using a new method of putting on spots using a Dotting Tool. I am pretty happy with how this one came out. As with just about all of these videos, this is my first attempt at painting this pattern so learn along with me as I try new things in my journey to becoming a better Air Brush lure painter.

Experimenting with Colors and Mesh over a Chromed Lure Blank

In this video I play with some transparent Black over mesh on a Chromed Lure blank that I got from Sugartit Lures and then top it off with Fluorescent Green and add some work around the gills. Painting my "Dark Silver Shiner"

In this video I do a little experimenting by priming a lure with Opaque Black instead of my normal Opaque White to see how Silver on Black looks. I use some mesh to simulate a scale pattern then lighten up the belly with Pearl White and darken up the back with Pearl Black. I just ordered from Sugartit yesterday. They shipped the same day. I’ve ordered from them maybe a dozen times and they’re awesome. Just a thought…..if you use Candy2O over chrome the shine comes through. If you use delicate surface (purple) masking tape it comes off easier and less tendency to lift paint Nice looking paint job. The gold gills are awesome
@@Indyjeeplover Sugartit is my “Go To” for lure blanks, great selection and great service for sure. I have not tried any of the Candy2O yet but it’s definitely on my list. Also, I have not seen the purple ( delicate surface) masking tape before…. can you get it at Home Depot ? I’ll definitely look for it next time I go to town….. hahaha we live out in the boonies 😬 I really appreciate your tips and your compliments. Thanks !

Tried the lure yesterday Don. No takers. Lure swims good and the paint job is a1. Wish the line tie was a hair bigger.

@@RaggedEdgeLureWorks well that line tie is so small and up against the body of the bait, I’m not sure you could get a split ring on it. I couldn’t get a #2 snap on it. I ended up tying straight to the bait

@@FlourEggsYeast Good question ,since I have only been painting these for a few months now and using them for less I couldn’t really say. I am slightly concerned about the 2 part epoxy that I am currently using as I have noticed a couple of small chips on the perch lure I have been using a lot lately and have caught several fish with but to be fair, I have a few “Name Brand Factory Lures” that have developed chips with heavy usage. I have been asking people who have bought or won my lures to report back on how they feel they are holding up and so far the feedback has been good.
Those look darn good. They strongly resemble a crappie, and I imagine in crappie filled waters will catch some tanks. Nice one Don!

The stencil is flat and you have it taped on; therefore, it will not be crisp.
@@user-mx1wq1fq4r I am in the process of trying to make some individual form fitted stencils for specific lures. Once I get it down I will post a video. Hopefully that will make getting nice crisp patterns much easier.
