  • In this video I paint a simple Perch pattern using a sponge instead of stencils for the vertical bars.
I also show you a few other tedious things that need to be done before a Painted Lure is ready to sell.
This lure & pattern has become very popular and is my best selling lure. If you are interested in this lure , reach out to me via email and I will get one out to you. These go for $10.00 plus $5.00 S&H anywhere in the US.
Thanks for watching and as always ...... Peace.

Looking great Don... really cool to see the process from start to finish. It never occurred to me that you had to do all that work getting the trebles on. I hate replacing those things!

Thanks Ryan ! Hooks and split rings are the worst part, the rest is just plain fun !

I think the sponge looks great on them. Man you have a better system for getting those split rings done then I do. I usually use my fingernail to open them to change out old hooks on my bait. I have to got get a pair of those split ring plyers. Great Job on there Don!!

@@mullisoutdoors Thanks Lance ! Split rings are a pain in the butt ! The little pliers I use are ok but I’m sure there is something better out there.

Don, these look absolutely fantastic (so does that large glide bait). I also finally sent you an e-mail update on the lure you sent me, sorry it was so late in coming.

@@AnglingSpiders Thanks Sean ! Got your email and responded in kind. I hope you win the end of the season giveaway from the original lure you won, if you do that big glide could be yours or I will paint one in a pattern of your choosing. At this point you are one of two would have sent me a pic of a fish caught on one of the six lures I gave away. Hoping a few others send me pics. I am gonna do that drawing on Sept 3rd ( day after Labor Day)

subbed you here for support. Do you order the basic bodies somewhere? That is so cool. Great job on painting. I love to paint too, so very interesting. The sponge look is definitely great.

    What clear do you use.?

@@vaughnprecision Thanks for watching ! I currently use TrueCoat 2 part epoxy. It takes a bit of time with a 12 hour cure cycle and I use 2 coats so you’re basically looking at adding 2 days to the process but the smell is not an issue and since I am doing this in the utility room in my basement that is important, especially for my wife. I have talked to some other painters who use KBS Diamond Coat, which is a dip type clear coat but have been told it has a longer drying time and the odor is very strong so that would not fly in my house.
