Hinduon se nafrat bhu karni hai aur phir bhikmungon ki tarhan unko bulana bhi hai. And litigation? I’m sure both of you remember when this was tried over a daft MOU and it just ended costing an insane amount of money in legal fees. I just don’t see on what grounds Pakistan or any single nation is owed anything by another when they don’t tour each other. And this is a very dangerous game they’re playing using Pak/Ind as leverage. Similar to ‘oh we’ve got a nuke, the west won’t let us disintegrate.’ India doesn’t need Pakistan, because a game every year or two still involves taking 37%(?) when they’ve got the IPL. Osman is essentially asking whether anyone explained to Sajid why he was dropped. In Pakistan, especially in government organizations (and while the PCB is not technically a government body, it is heavily influenced by the government), individuals are rarely treated with basic humanity. This makes Osman’s point about hurting Sajid's feelings somewhat irrelevant, as decisions are usually dictated from higher authorities without any consideration or explanation. Hence, Pakistan cricket is where it is today. The whole country sometimes lacks basic humanity.

Now that his Test career could possibly be over, I almost feel as if Shaheen should just prepare himself to return to being a gun bowler in T20s and taking wickets in the first overs like he used to at his peak in 2021. Not sure he's fully enthused or conditioned for Test cricket sadly.

I disagree, Shaheen has to take responsibility as well. He doesn’t play any first class games anymore where you hone your test bowling skills including stamina to maintain your pace. The reason Wasim and Waqar were so successful was because they would play a near entire season of county first class cricket. Nowadays our bowlers just bowl in t20 and maybe odis. The PCB should ask these bowlers to bowl in first class games to show they have the stamina to bowl in test cricket.

on Chapions trophy you guy watch the "The Print" episode of the chekhar guptas take on ind pak. It takes broader view not just cricket but betterment of both nations. Can u imagine the hit Pak cricket and world cricket would take if there is any incident if india comes to pak. It would takes us back 10 years. is it then worth taking such big risk especially now when pak is not politically safe. We need to slow with ind vs pak in Pak for now.

Good discussion on security … some thoughts … The concerns are multiple … Security at hotel and buses are different since one can usually cordon off the area or more …but security at the stadium where there are thousands of spectators and other sundry vendors or staff is a completely different ball game … the threat perception during such times and multiplied by a factor of 10… again given the current political unrest what if the current opposition uses this even to protest or create unrest … Secondly given the high level of security players freedom will get impacted which can have an impact on their performance … not to mention completely restriction on any movement even in the hotel … leading to lack of privacy where one can’t even have game discussions or any personal chit chat… Thirdly many people from India will try to travel ( if they get a visa) and they also will be open to surveillance either by the police or the establishment ..or other parties that would want to use the visitors as a tool .. given that Pak is a police state this is a high possibility … we in India have spent millions in trying to trace out the 32 Pakistani visitors from the 2006 cricket event in India and these folks have become sleeper cells .. Fourthly there is also a chance that when such events are happening where the whole region is focused there has been a history where in such times are used to reopen “Situations” up in north India… which is happening even now as I am writing this .. To summarize there are too many moving parts to this to be manageable lest something goes wrong … Having said the above the current times are too tense geo politically and with the current political situation in northern Pakistan… maybe we need to wait for better times … and a mutual Hybrid event is better for all to live with … Maybe there will be a day when we can travel back and forth easily and I can enjoy the TakaTak Kebabs and the Karahi chicken which looks yummy …

So happy to see a new episode. Big fan but have to respectfully disagree on the importance of test cricket. I am a 80s/90s kid like you guys and grew up worshipping at the altar of Imran, Wasim and Waqar. But the world has changed. The public (including me) does not care about tests (and Odis). If i were Shaheen, I would say fk test cricket, I'll go make way more $$$ in T20 leagues.

I really enjoy Osman's takes and mostly I agree with them, but I think just blaming the board here will be in the wrong. As a player, you have to put your hand up once in a while and say that you need time off. Shaheen got injured in 2022 WC and still hasn't fully recovered. You cannot explain his inclusion at the moment if he is bowling at 130km/h. The treatments for knee/back injuries have evolved and an ACL injury is not considered career-ending anymore. If Shaheen wants to make a comeback , he needs to take stock of what he sees himself as in the future (T20 merchant or genuine Test bowler). He can stay relevant in PSL bowling medium pace but he needs to be around 140-145km/h consistently before he can make a comeback to National team. Not to invoke IK but him and Lillee and to an extent, Bumrah, took prolonged time off after their "career-ending" injuries and their peaks started afterwards.

Jay Shah has done a really good job as a administrator in BCCI. I'm hoping for the best for him as a ICC chairman.

Honestly, I think this is a bad take. Yeah, the PCB has a history of mishandling fast bowlers, past, present, and hopefully not in the future. But completely letting Shaheen off the hook for how he’s been acting since the 2023 World Cup, that’s wild. When he’s been a big reason for some of our losses, especially in the Test series against Bangladesh. That’s why I actually respect the PCB for finally stepping up and making a bold move. It’s about time we focused on building our bench strength and thinking long-term for Pakistan instead of just relying on one player. Mark my words: Mir Hamza is going to do something amazing this series, just like he did in Melbourne which we honestly could’ve won that game if Abdullah Shafique hadn’t dropped those sitters!

Shaheen despite his form should have not been dropped. He did really well in Australia and has developed an out swinger too. It would have been interesting to see how he fares in South Africa. If he is to be rested, it would have been better to rest him in series vs west indies at home in January in spin friendly pitches.

Osman, man the nuance with which you speak is really envious. You're really the first person I've come across to acknowledge the fact that the concerns for India are different from those of the other countries. For what it's worth, PCB has done well to hold it's ground to try and highlight ICC's ineffectiveness and BCCI's lack of any accountability in it's communications.

Dude this tournament was allotted to Pakistan some three or four years back and what did you do in between these years to convince India that it is safe to travel to Pakistan except for somehow hosting all other foreign teams and PSL attended by retired foreign players but India still did not travel to Pakistan for any bilateral series, right. So you didn't do anything literally politically and militarily or tactically to address India-specific terror risks, just nothing. No Zarb-e-Azb, nor any other operation were carried out against India specific terror organisations based in Pakistan like against HuL, JeM and LeT. Over and above that you still don't have your ambassador in India and have downgraded all relations including trade, people contact, banned bollywood movies etc. Your whole point is if the White skinned nations can travel to Pakistan so automatically India will be forced to travel. But that is not the case, Indian Govt doesn't have any bilateral talks or any talks at multilateral event with you because of your support for terror against India then how cricket is possible. Indians have genuine threats from the terrorists who you support, harbour and sponsor against India. Till you do this it is morally and ethically wrong for the Govt of India and to Indian people to play cricket with you when our soldiers are constantly fighting against terror you sponsor. This isn't just right and none of the other cricketing nations except Afghanistan face this problem from you. So don't compare other nations coming to Pakistan with India.

As an Indian, I agree with most of your points. I'm sympathetic towards Pakistani fans, I think they deserve to have a tournament hosted once it's been allocated to them. I also think India should forfeit their games instead of trying to play them outside of Pakistan. There are a couple of points though: 1. BCCI could not have objected earlier to travel cause it's not their decision, it's Govt.'s. 2. Most people knew this is going to happen, so what was ICC's risk mitigation plan? 3. Even though I feel India should forfeit, imagine the financial impact it's going to have on all boards. Is that morally acceptable then?
