How a Lifted Subaru Forester Handles Driving Through Snow
3:23 is there a clip on the transmission side of the axle ? My 03 forester, the drive axle fell out when I took the hub off to change the wheel bearing. I'm thinking that might be some type of retainer mine is missing. I wonder if that little part broke ? IDK.
Yes, there should be a ring-shaped clip near the end on the transmission side.
quality content per usual
Good job greenhorns!
HEADS UP BEFORE YOU START: FIND OUT YOUR SECURITY CODE OR YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RE-START YOUR VEHICLE.
What brand of fluid did you use?
Valvoline
What size Tyres are those and do they rub?
Overall same size as stock so they don't rub. I think it was a 1/2" more rim and 1/2" less tire.
Thank you so much brother I’m having this issue now
put 6 quarts
“Set it to the side” throws it😭😭
Looking good
thank you will try this on my 02 forester
How does yours look so clean after all those years??? Rural area and garaging I guess? Mines '07 and dinged up on the outsider and worn out on the inside. Never been garaged and been off-roading and camping a ton. Great video though. Makes me want yo get it for mine.
I try to keep it clean, but my grandparents took great care of it before me
A lift isn't necessarily the first thing that should be done to any offroader. It's typically mostly vain. My first recommendation is generally to get armor. Then get a winch and other recovery gear. Then maybe get appropriate tires. I usually prefer mudders with plentiful siping, unless you drive a lot of pavement. CUV-oriented all-weather ATs would be my choice then, like Falken Wildpeak A/T Trails. A recommendation, after appropriate tires, is a rear locker. THEN I would consider a suspension on a Subaru. On a different offroader, I might recommend suspension/lift before tires, because it might fit larger tires, but newer Subis still only fit modest-sized tires in the fenders after lifting...unless you're into cutting and forming sheetmetal.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🙌🏾
Pretty basic yet informative video. Good luck with your future vids.
Thank you!
260k miles!!! Oh man mine is only 160k, this is great to hear.
I'm not saying it's running perfect, but it's still running
I installed a the replacement TIPM the same way didnt start had anti thief flashing and security screen came up no start no crank I installed the old one back and everything came back to normal started with no security code reinstalled the replacement and same issue any advise ?
If it is a used/refurbished TIPM, there could be something wrong with the way it's set up
I have the same issue it wont start after a i bought another fusebox
One of the worst mods you can do to subaru. You end up with higher coolant temp, worst 4th and 2nd cylinder cooling and worst interior heater heating, especially at idle. And next buy now is bigger coolant radiator. Well done, tuning companies will be happy. :D
Looks like you need to do the true awd center diff lock switch mod next! That 90/10 front/rear power split just ain't working in your favor at the end of the video 😂 the switch mod is quite common and easy to do, and it gives you a true 50/50 front/rear power distribution at the flick of a switch.
I'll have to look at that, thanks
Great video right to the point thank you!
I love my 07 Forester but yeah, it has no power against the inclines. Great for fuel efficiency and clearance though! Mine has over 200K miles and is still going strong!
Shaft nut is easily loosened while tire is on and sitting on ground if it still has the original rims
Is this the street or race version?
This is the race
@@KBrosAuto sounds dope! What wing is that?
S208/S209 from subiespeed
So ive bought a used TIPMS for my 2015 JGC and now rather than loosing a few fuctions ive lost everything and everthing is coming up on the dash as requiring a service. Service FWD, service transmission, service air suspension, service everything and the engine sounds rough too. Could my original issue actually be my ECU and not the TIPM? My original issue was air bag light staying on, uconnect not working at and my alarm going off randomly. Though it all started with my sat nav saying I was in Moscow! I live in England. Then things like the powerfold mirrows and windows only worked with the engine switched off, then couldn't oped my drivers door without locking it and unlocking it. Gradually new faults came up almost daily. Any help really appreciated
I guess it could be the ECU or TIPM or both. I would still suspect something is wrong with the used TIPM.
@KBrosAuto thank you for the reply. I contacted the company that supplied the used TIPM, they are sending me another, but I have little confidence that it will make a difference. Assuming it doesn't then it will be a costly trip to Jeep. Again thank you for the response
So the replacement TIPM arrived. I fitted it. Same faults as my original TIPM. Had the battery tested again, nothing wrong with it. What are the chances all 3 TIPMS are faulty with the same faults? Highly unlikely, right? So lets say TIPM and battery are fine, does that just leave the ECU?
I guess so, hopefully it's not crazy expensive
@@KBrosAuto Pleased to report, a loose cable conector under the pasanger seat, was the issue. I've hours under the hood and under the car. Couldn't find anything out of place. Then I started looking in the car. Unbelievable. Just like the TIPMS, two great big cable conbectors with the big clamps, locked it back in place. And wow everything works. Sat nav still says I'm in Moscow, but from where i have been for the last two weeks, I can live with that! The car is going to jeep in the next 10 days for a software update. I thought I would share this in case it helps any of your other viewers! Best wishes, Mike
Yeah manual says it’s 5.7 quarts and I put in the whole 5 quarts container and about 1/4 or 1/2 quart and it’s reading past maximum. Like almost 1/2 in past maximum.. yeah I ran it to fill the filter and let it rest for 40 minutes
I’m having trouble pulling out the bulb is seems to be stuck. Any tips?
I would try a pair of pliers if it's still stuck, you just have to be careful.
This video jumps around a lot, and we take some extra steps because of all the pieces we are replacing (and the parts we broke) so use the chapters to keep track of where you are at. Thanks for watching!
науй тебе мухобойка?
Does replacing TIPM require reprogramming??
It should not, sometimes a used or refurbished TIPM will need to be looked at but the car itself will be ready to go after the replacement

You're replacing the headlight BULBS. Please change the title. (changing headlight means headlight ASSEMBLEY)
This was a very great tutorial!
Are those bolts that hold the strut to the axle designed to adjust camber? Did they have an oval cross section such that rotating the bolt changes wheel alignment?
Yes, one of then does I believe it's the top bolt.
@@KBrosAuto You're right, I did one of these last week in a 2015 Forester.
ABS wheel sensor line should be removed and placed in a cushioned place, it s located near the front, which is the other side of the brake lines. If you bang on stuff while it’s attached they are known to break and cause a limp mode on your engine until replaced. I broke 2 replacing wheel hubs.
Thanks for taking time to post.
where did you purchase the refurbished TIPM please
I think it was just off of ebay
I need some help and advice. I have a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee it has 2 batteries one large battery and one small battery. With this small battery I accidentally touched the negative and positive cables and then it sparked. I tighten the bolts down and then I started in my car and my windshield wipers my Uconnect system my battery light indicator is going crazy. And my engine is very weak and shaking. Also my windows don't roll up. it ended up dying like the battery is going dead. Did I shorting something accidentally touching the 2 cables on the smaller battery? Can this be my TPIM? Thank you
I would think that either the small battery needs to be replaced or the TPIM, its not a bad idea to check your fuses or the voltage on the car battery with a multimeter.
@@KBrosAuto Thanks I stayed up all night researching this issue. And it ended up being my fuse block for my fuse block - mopar (68089468aa. I removed the fuse block and there the circuit had blown. However I need to go to the dealership and get another one but let's just hope that this is the case 👍
I just installed this OLM grill today and found the same issue however my grill did come with some cheap double sided tape. I found I had to double up the thickness of the tape to make good contact with the top and bottom.
What type of bulb did you replace? Can you give it its designation.
12V-21/5W #7443
THANK YOU. The best tutorial yet!
Glad it helped!
I’d love to give my 19 Forester Touring a 2” lift, but I don’t know who can do it correctly or which one is not going to hurt the safety of my Touring.
I would recommend ADF, doing it yourself can be easy or very hard. It all depends on what your run into, with a '19 I assume it should be smooth sailing.
Thanks for watching, please leave any questions or advice in the comments!
what aftermarket struts do u recommend
I haven't looked into struts yet, from what I've heard it's hard to go wrong
My retainer clip spring came off, and ran away. I'm trying to see the shape of it to replace it. Help?
I would go to subaruparts.com they have diagrams with labeled part numbers of everything. You can order the exact missing part for you car. It just might take a little looking around to find the assembly diagram with your part on it.
Always remove the pain before you pull the axle
I’m assuming you mean pin, 04+ don’t have pins they just slide out
@@V7Cameron 03 foresters don't have the roll pin either. FYI.
just a thought, could you not jack the control arm up higher to help when installing the new end link?
Yes, and usually this can help
That lift looks really good.
Thanks! Just blew a cv axle on this car so I haven't been able to drive it lately :(
I was waiting for you to try that hill 😆Very good points, love my lifted '06, the entry height is super nice for sure especially if you are use to plopping down into small/low cars or climbing up into vans/trucks 😅 For the front wheel slip if you have an auto look into the center diff lock mod, lets you lock the front wheels with a switch. If its a open diff in the rear, you can get a torq locker insert that is pretty nifty. My foz came with a limited slip in the rear I think it was part of the premium package, it works well, gets sideways without even trying sometimes 😁 There is also a way to disable the obnoxious seatbelt beep if you plug and unplug the seatbelt 30 times in 20 seconds or something like that, works until you repeat the process or unhook the battery, was so happy when I came across that. Subbed and staying tune! cheers!
Thanks! I haven't been in this car for a while the wrx is too much fun, but I think the diff is slipping so I'll have to look into that switch. Hoping to lift my brother's outback soon!
what's the wheel spec? thx.
I'm not sure these were the wheel that came with the car, I do like them though.
is it possible to find the link to these axles cause i need to replace mine and i dont want to buy ones that come short
Don't have my receipt around anymore but I think it was this one: www.napaonline.com/en/p/NCV941530?impressionRank=7
@@KBrosAuto thanks man greatly appreciate it
I'd recommend the extended travel version of the axles; they offer a little more flex for the lift. Every little bit helps it run better and last longer.
