I think you did the right thing, compromised. I would never care about you using the shovel, I would just be happy for the help. I need the card because I am a single full-time caregiver to my elderly mom, and things are tough not being able to work and care for her. I get stuff can happen but honestly I can’t fault the homeowner. He is paying for a service and also paying for the equipment used. That is like my lawn service company asking to use my lawn mower and leaf blower.

You did exactly the right thing. I recently had to vacate my apartment for a week due to a sewage backup, and the motel 6 cost money I didn't have. The landlord refused to reimburse me, and my renters insurance is giving me the runaround. I'm disabled and on a fixed income, so I had to beg food from friends when I ran out of money this month. That's why I need the gift card. I need to pay some friends back and restock the pantry and have enough to prepare for emergencies.

She has to pay you for the work you did since the contract was not canceled til after she talked to you! I’m sure her neighbors know what kind of a person she is so I wouldn’t worry about her telling me the neighbors

If he signed a contract and agreed to pay for services he owes you payment. Thats the point of a contract so you don’t get conned. He HAD to know he had cracks in his driveway from non-maintenance and years of use. That doesn’t mean he can refuse to pay you. I’d change your contract to add a non-payment clause and a deposit clause so you don’t get stuck with not getting paid.

You should’ve said that you saw her watching you while you were doing it the whole time. And quite frankly the way she was looking at you made you feel cheap and filthy and that you felt like you were part of the menu or something! But you would consider taking it out in trade ifn you know what I mean!!!

With enough square footage to fit another 2 4 level houses like hers or 4 single family homes. So of course being the good son, I take care of the yard when I can. Chicago winters are a mixed bag of no snow to snow apocalypse. So 1-2 inches depending on future temperatures, I’m there and out in 10-15 minutes.
