I've created this channel to provide an in-depth review on surfboards and surf related products to help others who are considering getting into this dream sport.

Great review, watched it from beginning to end while waiting for my Seaside and Beyond to arrive
Haven’t been on social media recently congrats and welcome to SC, how do you think the surf at folly has been post beach renourishment of the beach
My friend miss you in NJ and hopefully we can all get together soon me and my wife are down there at least twice a year. But I feel you I know you won't miss the super cold !
I dont know if id call that an assym skip. Both rails seem the same length. The only thing that resembles one is the different fin boxes.
Anyone try the 4 mm hyperflex? The coldest water I surf is around 52 degrees. It is advertised as being insanely warm , light, and flexible. Appreciate any feedback on it. I took the plunge and bout the isurus 3/2. They claimed it was as warm as a 4/3. I froze in that suit when the water was only 64 degrees. It was itchy and nothing like they claimed. Total scam and out $ 560.
Hi - What brand/model of child seat do you use on the murf?
Do you find that a 5/4 hooded wetsuit as well as 7 mil boots and gloves, keep you warm during the East Coast winter? I am going into my first winter surfing and have no idea if I am going to be freezing or baking in my wetsuit.
Nice board check at the beginning. I always wonder what people are riding. Pretty sweet equipment. Keep it up
moved to SC from CA about 12 years ago. i highly recommend you complement your surfing with either wing foiling or prone surf foiling. it will triple your days on the water and save your sanity. even a big SUP will help get you on the water when it is flat.
@@GregLantz-p3m thank you! I should definitely look into it!
Hey, do you still use it? Would you advice to get a plus or the old one?
@@garloish i only use SS Optic25. I wouldn’t spend over 1G on the 3+ which still has lotsa issues. If you get lucky, you may do ok! Get a used one from eBay to have a money back guarantee.
Hey skipper!! Just found this vid, it’s been a while but I’m looking into buying a mid twin. I’m 5’8 and weigh 150 lbs. any thoughts on board size? Thinking on the 6’7
@@jcbarria if you want a bit more glide then 6’7 or 6’8 would work great. It won’t have a shortboard feel though. To get a full advantage, I would get this board for 2-6 ft days surfing beach breaks (East Coast). You can def push it in bigger surf at point breaks. Hope this helps.
Thanks brother!! 🤙
Thanks for sharing. Good luck in South Carolina! Wish the best for you and your family. Glad you're back!
Thank you, buddy!!!
You looked good riding this compared to you riding board on other reviews. I have a seaside and beyond 6'8 but I'm curious to try this. I've tried the Too Fish bit I couldn't handle the speed and looseness of a twinnie with such a wide tail - do you think the length and pin tail would mitigate some of the challenges associated with a shorter twinnie?
My bro lives there. Cuppa mana coffee
Congrats on the move! Warmer water! Lower taxes! Cheaper housing!
Yes! Thank you! See you out there!
Hi mate, always enjoyed your videos. I live about 40 minutes from the beach (in a country town), and have done for many years. This was also for family reasons. I enjoy the drive, the change in weather (I am in the highlands) and still surf, albeit if not so often. Where the country meets the sea !
Real surfers live far from the beach! Makes you want it more
Couldn’t agree more 💯💯💯
The things we do for inheritance, Im sorry i mean family. Trade in those boards for a long board. Yeah sc has cheaper houses and such but the pay is also alot cheaper, and you have to take with it the countrys most corrupt politicians, unbelievable traffic and pollution. Everyone burns their trash and the police just drive by like its nothing.
It’s all good. Family first though. I’ll find waves and travel for better surf🫡 the traffic is a nightmare around Charleston but it’s actually everywhere.. I’m down in NY for a few days and tbh I can’t wait to go back home😀
family is more important than surfing, and if you take care of yourself, you can surf at a very high level for a while... I am 56 and and a 5'10" 30 liter shortboard is still the board I ride. occasionally I break out my superbrand fling on the real small days. my point is maybe just do this for a while, get a plan too get back to somewhere better, before all your youth is gone. above all, dont let anything turn into resentment towards others...
Well said!
cheer up, I think Georgia is worse... LOL maybe the bright side is that its less crowded? or no?
People say GA is worse, but at least it’s closer to FL. Thinking of traveling up the coast soon-maybe a trip to OBX or even Wilmington, NC.
@@SkipperSurfReview skip wilmywood and keep going to the obx.... unless you are just doing a quick day strike and already KNOW there are waves.... been here for 35 years, and its not as good as it used to be.... cue old man shouting at clouds....
@@SkipperSurfReview thats a good point, not sure which is better Fernandina beach or "Wilmington" area.... probably the Wilmington SENC area actually.
@@SkipperSurfReview I had been actually thinking of moving to SC, just because the crowds and development here in the wilmington area is OUT OF CONTROL. they are trying as best they can to chop down every last tree, and fill in every swamp an wetland they can.... everyone from (sorry!)NY and NJ moved here and brought their crappy ny/nj manners and attitudes with them...
Come on up to Wilmington NC sometime. Wrightsville beach produces some fun waves and we’ll show you a good time!
I’ll definitely come check it out! Thanks for the invite!
Hey man. Thanks for your great reviews. Going to ask a really annoying question... I'm tossing up between the SSB and the Boss Up I'm also flip flopping on sizing as I'm not hugely experienced with messing around with different literages. I'm 168cm (5'6") and 64-68kg (145lbs). Surf in Tasmania Australia, mostly beach breaks at 1-3ft. Comfortable in bigger conditions when they hold (recently been surfing bit overhead and up a touch in Sri Lanka on a random 6'8" 42L board). Current boards are a 9'1" FireWire Gem Longboard and a super floaty 6'0" egg (second hand from an interstate shaper, don't know litres). Obvious gap in the quiver! I'm an Intermediate surfer making top and bottom turns and redirecting to keep position. Starting to look to do more on the wave, generate speed, and keep having fun as I progress. Does the SSB or Boss Up seem like a more sensible choice to you (or something else)? I'm also thinking of about 6'8" in general for my mid as I'm smaller than most reviewers I have come across... Thoughts? Thanks heaps for your time and help!
Hey buddy! I haven’t tried a boss up but I think you would have more fun on the 6’8” SSB if you can get one. Check out ELMNT Double Yolk twin fin mid length. That’s more affordable than FireWires😜 I’m gonna post a review later this year!
I moved from VB to Savannah, GA years ago. The waves there could get fun. It is similar to SC. My few pieces of advice: I used to do road trips to N. Florida, but I know where you are is a bit harder. Get a surfskate. It has been a life saver for my surfing and stoke. Maybe look into foiling. You don’t need the quality you need for surfing, but the speed and flow will allow for more days in the water. You could start a new chapter with a new sport. Surf when the waves are good and foil the other days.
def not for the waves 🤣🤣🤣
God .. that looks like Gulf shores down on Orange Beach
I love your vids❤
😂😂😂😂😂😂
congrats on the move
Thank you, brother!
@@SkipperSurfReview hopefully it si warmer and more waves!
Man, what's up with the negative comments? Pathetic
Welcome to SC, brother! Yeeeew!
Thank you😍😍😍
The man, the myth, the legend! he is back! He is capable to squeeze out a surf on any wave! 🎉
Haha… miss you bro!!!
Great to see you making some content. And for cherishing your family and relationships. Overall, I think you focus too much on the nuances of board design. You surf mostly poor-to-average waves...with little power and form. And your technique is pretty basic. I would just focus your content on enjoying the water on some basic craft eg fish and longboards. Just give us the stoke, rather than getting new board after new board and talking through all the marketing and design hype. You don't have the skill or the conditions to push boards to their design intent. Keep up the stoke. Your market is more Ben Gravy (etc) than (e.g.) Noel Salas.
I disagree, when surfing these conditions board design can make all the difference. Especially asyms and twins. It’s also cool to see all the different shapes from shapers not normally showcased
No matter what every day it's a day to be stoke 🌊🌨️
Hey at least it’s warm water… wrestling with 58F on the other coast which is already 2F below my comfort level… 😂
Props to the camera person (for being out in that weather)! That must be true-love. And to you for surfing in that slop.
i think he has follow cam lol
…that skipper truly loves 💕
Bro please use a proper mic
Yes! Mine failed this time. Thank you!
Everyone trying to be nice in the comments but the sadness in your demeanor at giving up on the ocean for your wife can't be hidden. The resentment will build over the years, eventually it will ruin your relationship. Sorry man but you made a mistake.
He left Rockaway, not the north shore. He traded freezing cold fickle beach break for slightly warmer fickle beach breaks in SC.
What would you do?
Ok, barno. Get bent, Kook.
I live about 45 minutes from my regular spot. I feel like 45-1hr is pretty decent. I have friends in SoCal who can almost see the water from their home and it takes them almost an hour with traffic…
I totally agree-it’s better than being completely landlocked!
Feel you brother. The more consistent spots in my area are about an hour's drive away. Makes it more of an event and I appreciate it a lot!
Thank you for watching 🤙🏼
Good vid brudda!
Congrats! South Carolina has been improving over the years. Hope you and your family enjoy the slower pace of life, lower cost of living, and a bigger house/property for less money. More free parking too!
Yes! Thank you so much! We enjoy it every single day😀
At least your somewhat near the ocean...lucky your wife's family doesn't live in the middle of the country.
Glad to see you back vlogging. You don’t look totally stoked yet but takes awhile to get used to a new area. Did you say over an hour to get to the beach? 😮. Look forward to more vlogs 🤙🏾
@@surfininmy40s thanks for watching. It takes about 50 min without traffic and 1 hr 15 min w the traffic. SC has special waves and I knew about it before moving here. I’m still getting used to them😀
Shoot up north of North Myrtle.,, to South Port NC border, I lived in surfside/ murrels inlet for a couple years when I attended Coastal Carolina… some of the best times of my life. It’s like a box of chocolates. 🤙🏼 much love cool vid
@@tsunamisurfer7325 any surf at murrels inlet? I hope to be working down there and would like to get in a session before heading back home.... though maybe its not worth it cause home is CB... still would like to give it a try down there...
@ nope it’s protected by land , some good fishing tho! Safe travels bro 🤙🏼
@@tsunamisurfer7325 not sure what you are talking about, murrells inlet is certainly not protected by land, hence the name 'inlet'. its on the south end of garden city beach and there are a couple of long jettys there... must get waves sometimes...
Thanks for the vlog skipper. I bet you are not missing the icy water of new york my friend?
Not at all! Thank you for watching 😍
That NYC energy is missing somehow - feels different for sure.
Cool that your into the art of the board design. Stick with traditional for now probly. Good description
Thanks, will do!
On that red board, you didn't finish waxing the board. Look at the wax on any pros board. They was all the way to the end of the rail. Why? Decades of surfing and you learn this.
I don’t get free wax..
Goons always offer lame advice. You know da rulez!
