Can I contanct you via mail?
Sir can we do phd in geology or earth science from japan....plz make a video on this .
Yes surely. You have to find the right professor by checking Google scholar and then the university web sites. Then you have to email the professor. Write an Impressive Email to a Professor! ua-cam.com/video/z4alodz10TM/v-deo.html
@@Drganguli sir can you explain the process from start how to apply for course and scholarships in japan
@@simranrakwal1530 Japan PhD process is very professor centric for foreign students. The best approach is to convince a professor that he should guide your PhD degree. Once this happens they will give you all the details. If you want a scholarship, the MEXT program is there Study in Japan with the MEXT scholarship! ua-cam.com/video/R9Kbqy5LIkk/v-deo.html But many more scholarships may be there from a professors personal research grants. You have to a literature review and fine the Japanese professor you want to work with. That is the best approach
Really valuable advice! Crisp and straight. I have my presentation in next 3 days and stressed but this really helpful for the outline a whole presentation 😊
Best wishes and thank you
Wah
Sir, I just saw your video regarding phd in Japan. I will start my masters in biotechnology this year and I want to pursue Phd after that. Sir, is japan a good place for that?
Ya Japan is a good place for PhD. It is also a relatively safe country. Some knowledge of basis Japanese will help you though.
Sir, last year was my drop year as i was preparing for iit jam exam bcuz i want to do my masters from iit only. But i am not getting it. I am getting nit may be Jalandhar or kurukshetra as of now registrations are going on n 16 is the last date. So, i was thinking if i take one more year and prepare for iit jam exam and side by side i will do some other 1 year course if I found any else I will do short term course on swayam, i guess. My parents want me to join nit and i really don't want to do my masters from there as i am not getting a good nit like nit trichy or nit Warangal. What's your opinion sir. Please guide me.
I would also suggest that you do the degree from nit. These good or bad labels are given by people but what matters is how well you do in the class once you join. Another gap year may or may not improve your chances. And time and money will be lost.
@@Drganguli Sir,....Suppose I took admission in nit, gave the semester fees which is around 60k and next year in March I also cracked IIT jam exam with a good rank that will get me to IIT for my msc. Then I will switch to IIT and again I will have to pay semester fees in IIT which will be much more again. Taking second gap year will be worth it if I make into IIT next year, what do you say sir? Or a gap year will effect my PhD interview or job interview.
@@Ishvi-34 yes gap years have a negative impact on the interview committee. You can take 10 courses in a year and write a paper. That much time is being expended on studying for an exam. You could study at nit and apply abroad for PhD also. But ultimately the decision is yours to make. There is no guarantee that your jam score will get you iit next year. But this nit admission will go away.
@@Drganguli ok sir....Thank you 🙂
Thankyou sir

In case I don't clear the GRE verbal cutoff for PhD in some US universities, can that shortcoming be compensated if the other areas are remarkable?
If GRE is mandatory then you need to clear the cutoff if that is mentioned. Otherwise you should apply to the universities which do not need GRE. There are many such universities. Also give GRE before applying so you know your score. Try to improve your vocabulary. This video series will help you. Turbocharge English Vocabulary for Standardized Tests, Episode 4 ua-cam.com/video/MGf5dRYJw-o/v-deo.html
Very interesting view❤i remember when this action started college admissions were tough
At the end of the video the professor mentioned that "this is my take" However, I don't really think that you offered a point of view in this video. It seems like a description of the various Asian groups and what description that they *may* face if he had opinionated it by saying "i think this is bad and we should look at everyone without any racial bias or ethnic bias", then I would agree that it would be considered as a "take"
I think classifying people into groups, a favourite task of social science people can have negative consequence. Like in affirmative action Asians are removed in most Ivy League us universities but there are many who come from disadvantaged backgrounds
@@Drganguli I agree! Thank you for the reply, sir.
I’m a student of Electronics of Computer Science and this what I mentioned on my Ds-160, I passed the interview but later I was handed the 221g - is it because of Technology alert list?
Yes most technical and science people fall under the TAL category so further processing is needed. You have to be patient and wait for the issues to resolve themselves. The TAL documents are available through Google search and the keywords are such that most technical people will have worked in some of these areas www.bu.edu/isso/files/pdf/tal.pdf
your "race" cannot really be proved. What if I just choose to identify as "black" to get those privileges? But the supreme court overturned affirmative action in the Harvard v Asian Americans for Fair Admissions
Yes unfortunately affirmative action was supposed to help disadvantaged groups but it also hurts other groups who are supposed to be advantaged but are not. And lower income people get hurt. While affirmative action is removed as a direct criteria, it can be used through essays which mention the students hardships due to their background. In fact this was mentioned by one of the judges. Otherwise, Asians may get 80 percent on the college seats if only standardised tests and GPA are considered. Now that would also cause problems in society as you may not want a caste system to develop like in India with all the negative consequences
@@Drganguli Good point! I would just like your thoughts on why giving 80% of seats to Asians is a disadvantage? If we are truly producing the best doctors, best engineers, and best scientists, I don't see the issue. I think it is nice to have Asians if Asian people are performing the best. I want my heart surgeon to be the best qualified person, not a diversity candidate. I don't really understand the argument on a caste system. I really do think the constitution was right and everyone is equal. We should try and look beyond race and just get the best people.
@@JingJao In multiethnic and multicultural societies the perceived dominance of any one group in some areas leads to a backlash from other groups, particularly is this dominant group is a numerical minority. So social scientists try to prevent this problem through perceived equitable distribution of resources among the minority groups
Sir how do we respond to people mistaking Doctorate for mbbs doctors? As we also put Dr.
Well you have to correct them and say you are a PhD doctor.

Is GRE at home accepted by US universities these days?
Yes many universities require GRE. During the pandemic many universities dropped GRE and SAT etc as students had a tough time giving these exams. But they are bringing it back. Check this article www.jamboreeindia.com/know-how/reversing-test-optional-policies-us-universities-bring-back-the-gre-gmat-sat-requirement/amp#4
Hello sir, will the university scholarships (not MEXT) help us cover our living expenses + academic expenses in Japan? Do we need to arrange other funds?
In most cases they cover expenses as a basic level. Like for a single person living in a rented room, hostel or shared room close to the university who walks or takes public transportation. PhD students have to live very frugally else they will have to spend their personal or family funds.
Sir currently I am studying at IIT KHARAGPUR in department of chemistry and I would like to do PhD from abroad but my cgpa is not good enough (7.4). So sir please tell me what should I do to get a PhD position in abroad (USA, Germany etc.)
You can apply to universities where metrics besides the GPA are needed. Europe is certainly an option as competition may be less. For USA your case may get better if you have good GRE scores. GPA alone does not matter. The courses where you got good grades should be in the major ie chemistry in your case. Project work and good references also add value. I am writing to request that you consider starting a series focused on academic writing, including topics such as papers, proposals, reviews, projects, and reports. Dear Sir Wish you could have continued at IISc. Most of your videos are highly informative. Many of us are getting educated about Postdocs, master degrees, PhDs etc. In summary can i conclude based on the current scenario its better to stay in homeland than to think about US?
Well it depends on personal reasons also.
Sir I want to know one thing. Is it compulsory to choose host institute is different from institute where I completed my Ph.D?.
It is recommended but I don’t think it is compulsory. One thing that is important is that the professor should be different than the PhD guide in most cases. But then there are always exceptions so you should study past recipient’s for guidance
I feel that one should try to prioritize one of the following disciplines: 1. Computer Science 2. Data Science 3.Artificial Intelligence 4.Machine Learning 5.Mathematics 6.Statistics 7.Physics(Specially astrophysics) 8.Chemistry 9.Electronics 10.Electrical 11.Aerospace 12. Life Science
But, Why so much crazy in Computer science!! What is happened to Core Branch ( Mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering) ???
But you have to keep in mind that everyone does not like every major it is not just about job opportunities. Many people who like calculus, differential equations prefer the mechanical fields. Not all like logic, discrete math, compilers, data structures and programming languages and networking. So some people are jaded by the end of the third year of the bachelor’s degree.
Yes people are attracted by jobs and salary but only few people have affinity for computer science. In fact the skills in high school like calculus, matrices and physics, chemistry are directly related to mechanical, electrical and science fields. Computer science actually needs a different skill set like discrete math etc. Courses like compilers and networking are divergent to what is taught in high school
@@Anirban2050 I have mentioned aerospace in the list....Mechanical is also fine to some extent.... In modern times, people are mainly excelling in the fields written above and mechanical to some extent.... Now, try to understand the context
Yeah of course...@@Nirgudduo
