Do the POD GO and Fender FR10 Outputs SOUND the SAME?
Here I test the Main L Output from the Line 6 POD GO against the XLR Output from the Fender Tone Master FR10 FRFR speaker. Does they sound the same? Any differences?

Pedalboard Build with BOSS Amp & Cabinet IR-2...PROBLEM SOLVED?

    Audiphile here. Indeed, it's really hard to discern, but listening on AirPods Pro to me the FR10's output sounds clearer. Also, as you said, the FR10 has a slightly hotter signal, no doubt, which contributes to a more pleasing sound to the ears I would think.

  • @JamesFlorio-ti8gc
    @JamesFlorio-ti8gc День тому

    Good way to test sound for gigs.... Getting them to sound exactly the same though idk . Usually id say the XLR is best because it can send the info better, quicker, to the FOH . I don't hear a difference here. Try it at a larger venue. There may or may not be a latency with pod go without XLR. I bet the XLR is great on the fender being a newer unit

    • @JoshGordonGuitar
      @JoshGordonGuitar День тому

      There may be a difference at a venue due to room acoustics. But the core source signal tone from either the PG or FR10 will be the same, accord to this test anyway.

      @JoshGordonGuitar it really sounds exactly the same in your room for sure yes it does...great 👍🏻 job btw it's not easy to get a constant volume, EQ, tone, and still sound and feel good under the fingers....Helix has actually done a great job with picking dynamics in recent years with updates btw 💯👍🏻

    in other vids I have picked up the Info that the first series of these had a hiss issue. I think it should be fixed in the more recent ones and I believe also that Fender offers a bugfix for the hiss for the older series which can be done at the dealerships. I'm telling this from my memory so details might be wrong but I think it may be worth looking up online info on that. I have the same spkr coming. Will let you know if there is a hiss issue. But it will take some more days. The dealerships are having a bit of a lead time at the moment on these Fender FRs.

    When I was considering a Fender FR I read a lot about the hiss issue. My understanding was it was an issue with the initial release & was supposedly fixed on subsequent runs. I also read of folks that got them that hissed, exchanged them for another & got one that didn't hiss. I got mine & it's dead silent with the pod go. Maybe you should try an exchange? I think you're spot on about the onboard tone controls. I can dial in the room easily on a gig. Hope it does the job for you.

    I have one on my pedalboard and love it. A lot of people are using two which will make even more sense when IK comes out with the new update this month. It did take me some time to find amp captures that worked for me and those were NOT the factory presets. But there are a lot of great captures to be had out there. I am using two Tone Junkie captures. A 68 Fender Twin Reverb and a 66 Vox. I am using it in the loop of my HX Stomp.

      This pedal has brought me to a much happier place tone-wise. While I do love my digital modelers I still prefer the tone of real pearls and a tube amp. However, my band wants a guitar feed into the PA. This pedal allows me to simply put it on my pedalboard and not have to mic the amp. Loving it!

  • @69Firebird
    @69Firebird 6 днів тому

    I put my Tonex pedal in FX loop of my Podgo, turn off Amp/cab and use Podgo as stomp only. Not sure if all my settings are correct but seems to work well. Could you do a video on that experiment?

    • @JoshGordonGuitar
      @JoshGordonGuitar 3 дні тому

      I may try that out some day. Right now my Tonex One is on a new pedalboard I built. This way I don't need to mic my tube amp and can get a simulated amp/cab signal sent to the band's PA. Don't need to mic my tube amp this way :)

    • @JoshGordonGuitar
      @JoshGordonGuitar 6 днів тому

      Yeah, I'm on the fence right now. I think the BOSS IR-2 is definitely simpler to use and dial in tones. However, the Tonex One has much more features and capabilities. I just need to spend a lot more time with the Tonex One and its editor application. I think it'll provide what I need...just a couple of amp/cab sim rigs to feed to a PA or FOH while I use either a tube amp or FRFR on stage.

      @@JoshGordonGuitar Thanks for replying, but unfortunately I've tried that. I've also tried hold the "Tap" and "Mode" buttons together as advised by another person smarter than me! Nothing works so I've opened another ticket at Line 6 for support. I'm a big Line 6 fan, with a long list of their gear that I own. But this pampered POD Go has been a real dud. It's been back to them twice, the power jack shorted out and the well-known input impedance issue, and now this. Plus, I have never been able to get a convincingly good tone out of it. Every effect piles on digital clipping distortion until you turn them way down, at which time you no longer have any effect. It always sounds artificial. I've got a POD 2.0 and a Helix, both of which my cat could get great sounds from by comparison. Ugh! Thank for the help though.

    One downside I can see is price. You’re paying a premium for a modeling unit and a second premium for some sort of FRFR cab/amp. With something like a Quilter pedal which is also an amp you can just plug it into an old school guitar cab, and it has an XLR out. Not quite as versatile though on the multiple sounds front.

    • @JoshGordonGuitar
      @JoshGordonGuitar 7 днів тому

      Price kind of depends. I bought my HX Stomp used off of Reverb for around $700 CDN. The Fender FR10 was under $700 new at L&M. I could buy a new Fender tube Combe (Deluxe Reverb or Pro Reverb) for $2,000.00 easily. Yes, I loved the couple of Quilters I had. Back in late 2021 to early 2022 I ran the POD Go into a Quilter and into a Fender Bassbreaker speaker cab. The sound was excellent :)

    Good job Josh. I bought my POD Go 3/2023. It was rough getting started. I use the snapshot mode mostly so I can hit 1 button when I am lead singing the song. But I use the same patch in stompbox mode to because I found when I am not singing it gives options in each patch that does what I need when I am being just the guitar player. Handy tool the POD Go is. I modified my Deluxe and Blues Jr. amp gain stage configuration to the original Bassman with the JTM45 High pass filter and reduced the Bright cap to 1/10th of the bright. Really sounds good after 20 years of experimenting. So, I run my amp at in the clean and with some tube crunch for my bands. I use all Celestion G12-65s in the amps. Because if the risk of tube amp failures at a gig, I am struggling with the sound of the amp/speaker models sounding right. I just bought the Celestion G12-65 IR pack. It's still not happening. I will give the US Double Nrm that you used in the video a try. I didn't see the bright options the first time I gave it a try. Thanks for pointing that out. Wish me luck. Cheers!

    I don’t think the FR10 will like your pedal board. Like the Powercab they expect a hefty input signal to work properly. I use a Helix Floor and an Iridium based pedalboard into a Powercab. The Iridium needs the input boosted by +12db (done on the Powercab) to get level with the Helix. Your IR2 might produce the tone but it will be at instrument level, not the required line level. I really hope I turn out to be wrong.

      I just got the FR10 today. So far it's sounding good with my pedalboard. But I'm at bedroom volume right now. My next rehearsal will be the true test :)

      I switch gear because I feel like it. Variety is the spice of life, no? Lol. I'm always changing up gear and chasing tones. It maybe is a fool's quest but it's MY journey for now. Thanks for watching 🙏

    Hi ther it’s me agin I have a pod go also I’m doin what your doin with a pedalboard however.. My pod go is wireless I really like the unit on the pod go so what I did was add the pod go to the beginning off my pedalboard to use the wireless unit then you have added everything To your board really works great …so Pod go … 1/4 6 ft other side of mic stand into My pedalboard out to source …. You use the benefit s of the pod go Amps extra speakers Anything to enhance it Ok hope you get it … This is useful to you I’ve been watching you create patches for some time so thought I’d help out .. Oho one other thought boost after the pod go seems to work great .. done .. peace

      Thanks for the advice :) But for me, I will either use just the POD Go or just my pedalboard. I bought the POD Go so that I wouldn't need any additional or external pedals and such. Yeah, I keep my rig as simple as can be. I don't need so many effect choices that I end up thinking more about effect switching instead of focusing on play the music :)

    Ok hi there I have the pod go .. Everything you say sound right . Pre set sounds good My one word of advice Is to move your mic that’s at the speaker back .. 4,5,6,7 ft till happy it’ll give you a much better live sound Your move air like a real cab … anyway hope it’s helpful try it …

      Thanks for the good feedback. I have tried all distances with mic placement on the POD Go. And I prefer the sound of the mic being closer. That's what makes my ears happy :)

    Not a bad idea here....but for a better sound and much better response why not try a HX stomp and a tone x....just a idea 👍🏻💯

      Good idea, but I don't want to buy another modeler. I'm just going to stick my the Line 6 gear I already have and the BOSS IR-2 and pedals I have. However, ya just never know...lol

    i have the headrush 108, it reveals the true results of what you put into it. I tried the headrush pedal board, yuck. now I've gone Friedman IR-D and the fender fr10. very happy, kept the headrush 108's for band fold back and they are great stage monitors. there's an out on the back of the fender fr10 that may work to go DI to desk, or maybe with the friedman, i may put a DI box on pedal board and send to desk and through to fender fr10

    Hey Josh, what made you pick 10 not 12? I think the weight difference is minimal, I'm waiting myself on my 12, so I'm curious on your decision driver..

      The FR10 is a little smaller and a couple of lbs less. I believe it's all I need to hear myself on a bar stage and simultaneously run into the PA.

    For modeling I always use a high cut from 3.5 to 5kHz. Most real cabs work from 100Hz to 5kHz
