EXPLORE The Most SHOCKING Doctor Who TWISTS
I enjoyed Colin Baker as The Doc.
Colin Baker was good he really shines in BF it was Micheal Grade was the problem
Colin Baker was better than Silvester McCoy. The viewing figures show that.
Colin Baker was much, much better than Whittaker or Gatwa. Possibly the worst other than them but it’s close and I could more than understand other opinions. What isn’t up for debate is Whittaker is far and away in last place and Gatwa is very clearly second worst.
The costume is awful and it matters a lot because TV is primarily a visual medium.
The last 2 Doctors are worse!
His rather "Arch" acting style and the poor characterisation of his spiky Doctor by the writers didn't help matters.
Not after 14 he's not.
He isn't the worst anymore, JW and NG have taken the crown consecutively I liked Collins character, I just hated his damn costume, took me out of the show almost completely
He has the 2nd doctor in his era so not the worst
Answer: It wasn't. It was sabotaged by the stuffed suits in the BBC.
I think that modern Who only have such a dark history in Doctor Falls
It was the mean spirited nature of the Doctor that diminishes him, and the next one. No wonder it died then...
I always felt the 6th Doctor was given a huge level of neglect.
3:10-Ezra Miller's favourite Doctor Who moment
I'm amazed that Mr. Baker struggled for work before leading Who, he had seemingly such a presence, he would have made a great thinking man's, every man. I would love to have seen him play Sherlock Holmes, Gandalf of Lord of the Rings or Scrooge. A short lived stellar career.
He played Sherlock Holmes in the early 80's not long after he left Doctor Who.
I used to think that Sylvester McCoy was the worst. Until the reboot… And then I watched The Hobbit, and had horrible McCoy flashbacks…
I feel bad for Colin. I love the 6th Doctor. On big finish he absolutely shines.
It was a masterpiece compared to the last 3 doctors.
His first series is so much better than anything McCoy made
Dr.Who definitely isn’t the best choice for some of these actors given the poor quality writing and production.
For me, Peter Davison *was* the Doctor (until David Tennant took the top spot) Sharaz Jek, I think is a character who could, nay, *deserves* to be brought back. The parallel to Darth Vader is unmissable: A formerly-handsome man, hideously burned, and forced to live behind a black mask, who in their last moments, sacrificed their lives for another, and I think Sharaz Jek's mask is every bit as iconic as Vader's. As for Turlough...My issue is with the casting. Not that Mark Strickson isn't a good actor, he was simply way too old for the role, and if I'm honest, the image of a grown man dressed and posing as a school-boy always struck me as disturbing and perverse. All that could've been solved by casting a younger actor.
The photo of JNT at five seconds, reminds me of how Lindsey Buckingham looked in the seventies: Another misunderstood creative genious.
I'm not sure that the premise that collin baker was "the worst doctor" was true even at the time of this video's upload. I think that the most objectve measure of how good or bad any one "doctor" actually was, is how synonymous they become with the role. And i reason that average week on week viewer retention aswell as time and number of episodes spent performing the role is a fairly decent indicator of that. (Note: this automatically disqualifies 1 off doctors as audiance retention cant be calculated between appearances) Ie. Any dr that captures the audiences imagination as the dr is a "good doctor" and those that dont are a "bad doctor" Now, i dont want anyone to think that whether a doctor is good or bad rests soley on the shoulders of whoever fills the role itself, as the show us the result of a collective effort however each doctor is defined by who fills the lead role so thats how i'll identify them? Although they each have their own cult following, colin baker, sylvester mcoy, peter capaldi and jodie whittiker all failed to retain audiences throughout their relatively short respective runs. Thus are all "bad doctors" Whether theses failures can be attributed to declining production values, stale writing, franchise fatigue or an unpopular change in creative direction, the result is the same. As to who was actually the worst doctor back in 2023? I dont know, but i think anyone on my short list has a good chance at taking the title of "the worst".
John Pertwee was my favourite DR WHO Spearhead from is my number one favourite Dr who and Silurians Dr who and the Deamons Dr who and the sea Devil. Happy childhood memories l have a large collection of of John Pertwee as Dr who William Hartnell Patrick Troughton Tom baker loved the 60s 70s classic Dr who's.
During his first season Colin's Doctor came across as kind of hateable. His Doctor was overly pretentious, rather arrogant and a know-it-all (and not in the good way, the "Ha! Look how much smarter I am than you lowly humans" sort of way). The 6th Doctor did mellow out a bit after the first season, but the damage was already done. Not sure to this day if Colin really thought that was how the Doctor should be portrayed or was just a victim of very bad writing.
I've just watched all the Peter Davison episodes. I felt he struggled at first (not surprising considering the longevity and persona of Tom Baker) but by the time he ended his role he had grown into the role and in my view had just established his own status and quality when he left.
Yes, he did. I would say that.. the way it all felt at the end.
Now that Ncuti is in the role there's no way Colin is the worst, and there's no way The Twin Dilemma is the worst Doctor Who story of all time.
It was Vietnam war on TV all time and Cold War. Kids were more aware.
Born in 1961 l loved all the old Dr who William Hartnell Patrick Troughton was my favourite till John Pertwee started playing Dr who he was my favourite Spearhead from space is my number one favourite. Tom Baker very good Dr who l think Tom stayed to long as Dr who at the beginning good scripts pyramid of Mars is my favourite Talons of weng - chiang as the series went on the script stories didn't have that same attraction. When Tom Baker left Dr who went down hill l think Tom Baker only stayed so on playing Dr who for so long only for the money l see in his face at times he look tired bored playing Dr who.
When it comes to classic Who for me it's always the 4th and the 6th
Because no one liked a vain, arrogant, supercilious, and cowardly, Doctor.
John Pertwee was my favourite DR who Tom Baker very good after he left Dr who went down hill.
When I was younger, I could never forgive Colin Baker for replacing Peter Davison, who had been my introduction-point to Doctor Who. A few years ago, I caught a few of the Colin Baker episodes, and every so often, he would say something a certain way, or give a certain look at someone, and it made me think ''Ahhh, *that's* why the 10th Doctor...'', and that gave me a new appreciation for Colin's tenure as the Doctor. My least favorite Doctors are unquestionably Sylvester McCoy and Matt Smith. Instead of Peter Capaldi, I'd've cast David Bowie as the 12th Doctor. Capaldi's run started strong, but soon degenerated. But seeing Jodie Whittaker regenerate into David Tennant; that was good!
I agree with a lotta the comments here. Colin baker played a great doctor. His character was genius. They shoulda held onto him longer in the show. A lotta stories were quite dull and bad. Whom shoulda been fired were the writers of the show.
The BBC at the time should have left the show alone. They put it on hiatus in 1985 at the worst time. If they were going to cancel it then after season 24 would have been a good time. I find it very hard to watch that one. But then season 25 improved in leaps and bounds, with the exception of The Happiness Patrol, whilst season 26 was near perfection, with the exception of Ghost Light. I'd put The Curse Of Fenric up there with the best of what the Tom Baker era produced. The plans for what would have been season 27 prove that the show was only going upwards. In hindsight, the show ending when it did at least allowed Sylvester and Sophie to continue their characters' relationship in the Big Finish audio stories, which wouldn't have been as good had they had an on-screen end game to be wary of. In short, the show shouldn't have been cancelled when it was. However, in the era of RTD2 and Ncuti Gatwa, it most certainly should be.
To paraphrase the Tenth Doctor shortly before he sacrifices himself to save Wilf, Colin Baker's era was capable of so much more, and had the BBC allowed the show to continue without interference it would no doubt have proven this. Any issues with Colin Baker's era (and there are several) are not of Colin's doing. He was a good actor and enthusiastic for the show, but a scapegoat was needed and the leading man of the time was unfortunately it. Peter Davison jumped at just the right time, otherwise he'd have been the Judas goat. Anyone who thinks Colin's run was bad should buckle up tight before watching the pantomime that was season 24.
No way was Colin Baker a bad Doctor Who,I like watching the old episodes of his and listening to him on Big Finish audio. The trouble was at the time the BBC messed about with the schedule and timing of showing Doctor Who up against Coronation Street. Also Micheal Grade wasn’t a fan of the show. After Peter Capaldi those are the worst Doctors
¿You dont like 12 doctor?
Yes I do like the twelve Doctor but after Peter Capaci. The 13-15 doctors are not any good.Even David Tennants return couldn’t save Doctor Who.
@@STUARTHERON-z5c yeah you re right
Colin Baker wasn't as bad as all that. The series needed much better writing than it was getting at the time. In particular, I really dislike the weakness of the writing when it comes to character development for companions. That wasn't unique to Colin Baker's time--it had been getting worse for quite a while. Peri's entire character seemed to be about providing counterpoint via constant whining. The sixth Doctor needed a more Romana-like companion, rather than Tegan on overdrive.
Who is this "sick doctor" about whom you speak? 😉 Collin was the worst of the classic doctors and the begining of the show's decline, but thanks for the background.
This has aged well. Compared to what’s being made now Colin’s era feels like Tom at his peak.
What went wrong is that stupid suit.
Gurl, no one has forgotten this story! If they have, they've never really been a fan or seen real DOCTOR WHO in its fullness! ;0
There was noting wrong with Colin Baker. He's a very good actor. It was the writing and his fist companion was SUPER annoying. She is unwatchable.
The 13th Doctor was the worst.
Better than Chinball or RTD2 era
Tom Baker didn't retire. He was forced out by John Nathan Turner! JNT wanted too many changes to the show by focusing on a younger audiance!
Your joking have you s 0:24 even 13/14 and now 15th it makes 6th look brilliant 😊
The13/14 and 15th is bad it does make the 6th and 7th look brilliant
He had one massive problem, he followed Tom, any actor was going to find it difficult.
