I come from a rhythm gaming background, so it's interesting when a community is so against hardware changes that would make movement easier when that's the baseline for DDR/ITG/PIU players. For us, it started with bar-usage. Using the bar behind you makes faster stepping easier, balance better, and overall just way more enjoyable. But we didn't stop there. Later dance pads removed corner brackets, which were bulky and obnoxious and even tripping hazards due to screws sticking out between the arrows. This was in tandem with modifying pads with gorilla tape or foam take between the panels and sensors to make arrows more sensitive. Now our most recent is FSR sensors, or pressure-sensitive ones that can be adjusted with a program to find that perfect medium between an arrow that requires you to stomp to activate vs an arrow that is so sensitive it will trigger at the wrong times. The main difference is tournaments for rhythm games provide the pads so everyone has to play on those same two pads, whereas for melee you bring your own controller, but since covid we've also had remote tourneys where people would just play on their own modded pads at home and nobody ever called foul play on this. Idk, generally I'm pro-b0xx controllers because of my rhythm game background, but I do find the discussion interesting.

Pound 3 is the best all time but Cody’s run is second in the same tier. Eras aside Mango was not a top seat going into this whereas Cody’s was. Also Mango’s quality of wins was slightly better. Cody’s still super impressive and deserves to be up there in the argument.

Objectively PM is S tier and above the others. Brawl story mode plus melee mechanics. Goes above Melee without saying and definitely above Ultimate with its bad competitive mechanics and shitty single player.

He's a one of kind player he was great at Melee and brawl and even tho people shit on him he was very good at smash 4 too hes one of the only people in the smash community that can even do that and he was dam good in project m too.

i'm totally necro--commenting, but who cares lmao as someone that used to play melee about 7 years ago with no issues, I was shocked and worried when I picked up rivals of aether 2 and started experiencing intense pain in my arms. because of this, I've been religiously researching to find a good box controller and this video has been incredibly helpful. thank you sir!

I’ve been following melee consistently since before the rise of Cody, and I think he seems like a pretty genuine and likable guy. I’ve seen him get a lot of hate over the years and I don’t really get why he is sometimes listed among the less likable players. I’m glad he was able to rise to the top of melee. Awesome video by the way.

GOAT means greatest of all time. Mango has been a top player and winning majors for the longest period of time in different eras of melee. shouldn't even be a discussion how can you be the greatest of all time when you only won for a few years.
