if you have homebrew you can wipe the SD card clean but if there are applications on the sd card, those will be lost but if its just homebrew you will be fine. Hope this helps!
Slippi will unfortunately not use save files from a memory card or save them there. Slippi is just used to make sure that things like characters, stages, UCF and other options to make competitive play easier are avalable. I am also assuming that your talking about saving progress in the adventure mode which will not be saved.

When choosing SD in the slippi nintendont loader, it immediately takes me to another menu where the only option is to try to load a GC disk. This errors of course since there is no disk in the machine. Is this an issue with my iso? Edit: Yeah I removed the .iso file name when I first renamed it. Making sure it was "game.iso" worked.

if you want to record slippi games you need to plug in a USB devices for it to boot up. If you don't want to do that you need to turn the file writing off for it to boot.
Okay, I’m in a bit of a pickle. I homebrewed my Wii years ago, and have lost the SD card I had in it. Do I need to reinstall everything? Can I use a USB drive to do so? Do I need to update homebrew? Sorry for so many questions but I’m v confused and want a strwamable setup for my uni local
Yea it’s very possible, just not recommended since the sd card is hidden and the usb isn’t. Don’t wanna have the usb bumped or unplugged especially if you plan to bring your setup to a tournament. Hope that helps!

So there is an issue that I have run into, oddly enough the issue is in the name of the file ID as far as I know. For example, you need to name the file for standard melee "GALE01" but for things like animelee will also need to be named "GALE01". Because of this it usually doesn't work since there are two of the same. I recommend looking at the file types in dolphin and seeing if the ID of the file is different. If they are, name the folder with that ID and drop the game into it and name the ISO game again. Sorry for the complicated response its just a bit hard to explain it over UA-cam comments.

you are able to use slippi to play melee online while using a computer. You cannot play melee online through the wii. However, the computer version best fit for competitive play (slippi) is also able to be run on a wii. This is a guide showing how to set it up on a wii. I hope that helps!

So when you install homebrew its no longer on the SD card its just on the wii
So you dont need to fill up space on the SD card with homebrew

If you download slippi to your wii, you will have everything unlocked. You open slippi through a different app on the Wii and they’re separate

if you want to record slippi games you need to plug in a USB devices for it to boot up. If you don't want to do that you need to turn the file writing off for it to boot.

I would always recommend to not use hdmi and to always play on a crt tv
I'd recommend purchasing a Retrotink. You feed in the the composite cables and it will feed out lagless HDMI in an upscaled resolution.

Can I load other iso's using this methodology? What if I wanted 20xx Uncle Punch and my Animelee iso? game game2 game 3?

i dont have a legal copy of melee and the only video game store in my area is a toltal scam 70$ for a copy of melee and the disks are scratched
I can’t say what you can or can’t do, but there may or may not be free ISO copies of melee on some certain websites
