Meta Knight is not banned from most tournaments like you claimed at 4:42. Most tournaments nowadays allow him, and even when the Unity Ruleset banned him the ban was never fully enforced, and mostly died out. The only place right now with MK banned is Boston, every big tournament has him legal and even in Brawl's prime there was never a major with MK fully banned. The only ban that exists in the main bracket at majors is double mk in doubles.
I main steve and kazuya. not because they're broken, but because Kazuya imo genuinely has the coolest looking combos, and I'm just so happy about Steve being in the game :]
@@JeramiJoseph for sure. Unless we added it to 1.03 or something basically only allowing so many pummels under x condition so handoffs are still available along with a few pummels. But I agree for regular melee it would be hard to manage.
Most regions have unbanned Steve by now bc PMLG turned out to be a dud and didn't affect the tournaments where it was legal, and the top Steves (Onin) aren't winning everything, with Acola just being a solid player. He almost beat Sparg0 with Aegis lol
I still think PMLG has the potential to be a really strong tool for Steve, however the main issues are that it seems to be a bit difficult to get the hang of it, and once plenty of footage of someone using PMLG to consistently cheese games shows up, the character will likely get banned as a result.
PMLG isn't a dud, and players aren't going to risk a ban/disqualification for the sake using PMLG so we already know your reasoning is flawed. PMLG caused the ban because people saw the potential for it when used at high level as its use (whether successful or not) always made the outcome of exchanges heavily favoured towards the steve player's.
@@Megajmaster1000 bro ultrank itself put a cash bounty on someone to perform it in bracket You're telling me every Steve main (or even secondary) is in a secret cabal and the entire collective of them unilaterally decided to not take the money? 😭
@@GaiaFGC idk what ultrafast putting a bounty somehow changes common sense. That being using a glitch that will result in my character staying bad is not the brightest idea.
I'm honestly really happy to see the smash community finally taking action against these types of characters. For me personally, the problem isn't whether or not these characters are busted or annoying (although it IS an important factor), it's about whether or not they are healthy for the game. The reason I think characters like bayo and steve should be banned while characters like Jigglypuff shouldn't is because of how many/the types of people pick up the character. Only Hungrybox -one of the "Gods" of Melee- was really able to bring Jigglypuff to the top level whilst almost everyone in Smash 4 played Bayo, and complete randos were able to get tournament wins with Steve in Ultimate. I really hope that the smash community learns when to put their foot down so we don't have another Smash 4 Bayo crisis.
Steve mains explaining how he requires a lot of skill and is really difficult to play in tournament, and that banning him would remove something that has always been a core part of the game. Not to mention, if they can't play Steve, what other fighter could they possibly pick? Their options are just so limited.
This is my second video of yours that I’m watching tonight. I’m enjoying what I’m seeing so far I’m considering subscribing. And it’s currently 208 in the morning here
One thing i hear a lot in this video thats extremely important and i comend you for is this "with out this character, they would not have won a major". I cannot express how that gets real bad. Same with steve, you have a lot of people from a younger demographic playing him not oly b/c hes OP, hes easy to pick up,mastering him requires little fundamentals, and the way he's built makes hims agrivating to fight. I say this a lot, but who knew Onin, who knew Acola, who knew yonni!? When steve came in, where did all these teens come from!? Why are they winning with little experience? Why are they getting so much overbearing HATE? B/c of these unbalanced characters and many officials are too hesitant to ban these characters, why, b/c when they do, now those mains get upset like its not fair.(8:48 is a another point too) So my point is, we need better control over what we can control. If you cant control steve, kick him out for the better, not just from an enjoyment standpoint, but to keep people safe and to lessen stress and controversy.
Yeah I can totally see that. And a lot of people are saying if a character is unhealthy for the game to get rid of them. I’m no TO but I can see that point for sure
@@JeramiJoseph yeah, I just hate seeing history like this fall back on us again. It broke my heart seeing Acola cry at a tournament b/c he's know that he has to return , knowing that he's gonna get harassed by people online. I could say why he would be harrased but it would make me sound like a jerk as well. If a frickin character is not only broken, carried in game, but causes literally tension the real world, even to the point of death threats, I'm not even gonna consider anyone else's opinions, I'm banning him if it was my decision. I don't care if sound like those threats and stuff got me to ban him, again, if he'd causing this much trouble, WHY LET ARMAGEDDON LOOSE!?
@@jpc7795Horrible logic, G&W, Kazuya, and Sonic players get hate all the time. MinMin is extremely hated by the Japanese scene. This is not a good reason to ban a character, it just gives bad people more excuses to hate players and ban things they don't like.
It's a shame the TOs of majors didn't have the backbone to enforce a ban or walk back on it. All the justifications steve players make for PMLG have the same level of credibility as the reasons sm4sh bayo mains had for her ladder combos that could be done on any stage.
Who do you think was the most controversial character in smash?
Steve, i did not followed smash competitively at this time bue it seems like everyone agrees about MK and Bayo
