Our Liberty House is a gardening lifestyle channel. Lucas & Beth live in Zone 9b, Sacramento, CA, (with their dog, Liberty!) and garden in 6 raised beds in our backyard garden. Together, we garden year-round and share what we are growing and what we are learning along the way. Our gardening strategy is to create a garden full of diversity. We intermix vegetables, flowers, and herbs to create an ecosystem where beneficial insects thrive. We avoid all pesticides and instead plant things that will take care of pests for us. We compost and try to live a sustainable life where we can 'eat what we grow' from our backyard garden. Thanks for joining us on our journey!

    I mixed 0.5 TBS of neem oil with a few drops of dish soap in 1L water and sprayed my entire plants after pruning heavily infected leaves, after a week I sprayed store bought insecticide solution to get rid of the mites, after a few days, I sprayed the neem oil mix again. Now I end up with new disease on the both old and new leaves, something like black spot, what did I do wrong😭

    When my tomato plants reached the 7ft ceiling in my greenhouse I started to snip the leaders but then, side shoots shot up to the ceiling and I just didnt have the heart to snip those as each & everyone of them was full of blossoms. So now those shoots are all bent over smashed up against the ceiling plastic. I have been looking at greenhouses for next year hoping to get a taller one but 6.5-7ft seems to be about it unless you want to spend thousand$ for a commercial GH. I dont. 15L X 10W will do me fine. !

    I would caution against using paper shreds. Ink and other additives should never go into your soil.

    Tyvm for the video. 3 Questions: 1) is it OK to spray the neem oil when sun is on the plants? 2) How much of the plant can be pruned of diseased leaves without killing the plant? 3) Is it OK to get the neem oil spray on dill, oregano? p curly parsley plants? I companion plant in 3' foot high vegee boxes. Want to know if I should harvest the herbs before I spray...

    I overwintered a good productive pepper. I cut back foliage and sheltered it by a window inside. When the temps heated up, I planted it back outside. It looked healthy and even grew 3 peppers but it never regained even decent vigor. I was not impressed.

      One way would be to install the steel on the interior of the posts. The wood 4x4s would then be exterior on the corners.

    Sacramento (County) here as well. Nice garden! Ours is generally doing well this year, except for our tomatillos, funny enough. Yours look like they’re doing well. Given our yard layout, I’m not sure our garden would have done well this year without shade cloth. I’ve grown probably at least 50 tomato varieties and San Marzanos are the worst for BER in my experience!

      @@ricardorodriguesrr18 I heard that if you give them too much water it waters down the taste. However, soil is different, weather etc. can all affect the flavor. Next year might be better for you. One year i didn’t get a single Roma to get to the red stage. You just never know.

    • @OurLibertyHouse

      Depends on the water pressure at time of watering, but yes, the idea is to have the water come out deeper and drive the plant to create a deeper root system rather than a superficial one

  • @yes350yes
    @yes350yes 3 місяці тому

    Adding my two cents here, I use rabbit food pellets which has some alfalfa in it which can help a lot to heat up a pile, but of course your pile has to be big enough at to the size of your shown pile,. Also many people who want their pile to develope faster make sure the pile bits are already broken down to a degree.

      I would make sure to get galvanized steel which won't rust. Any and all wood will eventually rot, but we like using Redwood, which is rot resistant (like cedar), but you could choose to seal the wood if your worried about rot.
