I wanted the nickname "Sevenstring" because I play a seven-string guitar with a high "A" string. I had to settle with eightstring, but I plan to actualy build an eight string shortly with both the high "A" string and with a low "A" string. (I build my own guitars)

Of course, my greatest guitar influence was Lenny Breau, Ted Greene, and not to forget George Van Eps

I also play the pedal steel guitar, and if you notice all my favourites (Canadian spelling) are pedal steel guitar players. The pedal steel is an extremely difficult instrument to master.
My biggest wish and my only motive in presenting these videos, is that every person/guitar player/jazz player/anyone interested in Jazz Guitar, pass along these videos of Lenny Breau and Ted Greene to anyone interested in the guitar.

Most probably the best video recording of Buddy's right hand technique.....He is playing a "Fuzzy" guitar, later renamed to "Excel" guitars. Invented by Japanese maker, Mitsuo Fujii.
Ted Greene - Autumn Leaves
Переглядів 2,6 тис.12 років тому
Ted is giving a master class to hundreds of guitar players, and he was just speaking about keys and explaining how J.S. Bach handled music. Someone in the audience asked Ted to play, and Ted asked which tune they would like to hear. Someone again yelled out Autumn Leaves and Ted takes about 15 seconds to decide what key signature he will play the tune. Then he starts...and at the end he ends a ...

Ted Greene - 3 classic melodies (TedGreene.com)
Thank you. 1 genius. 1 highwire. 0 nets. 1 instrument. 1 cable. 1 amp. 1 take. 1 mic drop. Speechless. Thank-you!!
Buddy sure was a gracious guest and he represented Americans well. He was the greatest all around steel player and very creative.
When I first heard Ted Greene I think 40 years ago , he was a purely great musical guitarist that did things with Harmonics that I’d only imagined. . I wish he was still here with us. One not to be forgotten. Thanks UA-cam and all those who remind us .
With volume on my phone turned all the way up, the music is barely audible. Background noise is terrible.
Why does every single video of this dude have fucking terrible audio quality fuck
Now I know what Eric Johnson studied
Would've loved to have met him. Seemed like such a warm, friendly soul.
It’s a shame how nearly all videos of him are poor quality, especially audio quality.
Amazing tone. A true Master. Wish I had been there in person. Amazing trip now going back to 2003 every time I watch , again and again.
A strange and beautiful take on Elenore Rigby. Ted ate, slept, and breathed guitar. That's what you have to do to play like that.
genius , over the top
How is it that I've only just heard this man playing for the first time in my 61 years on the planet? So beautiful. My mind is blown. ❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Stephen, I hope you are well and smelling the roses!
Ted opened so many new doors to the house of guitar. He also left a bunch of extra keys around for people to try on the locks that remain. So did George Van Eps. He was Ted's teacher for awhile.
Ted greene obrigado pelo seus acordes, e sonoridades maravilhosas!!!

This is magical indeed
Truly, a based human being, and we are all poorer for the loss of him. Saint Ted !
He's kind of like the Keith Jarret of guitar.
2:14
Ahh... The chord chemist soothes....
great tonal landscape - reminds me some of Pierre Bensusan
pinky hanging out in space doing stuff
Watching Rembrandt paint would have been like this ❤️
He always plays his Telecaster as if he were in a dream.
Staggering how few have liked this
Jacob Collier just said that Ted Greene is a massive influence and inspiration. I came here to see why. Jacob is right again!
Just did the same.. and yes it was worth it! What a performance!
Truly this man did it all when it comes to the music world. Hope he was ready to meet JESUS CHRIST at his death, otherwise, all was in vain. Well maybe not in the sense that he was a major influence on the Christian players as well as secular. R.I.P. Buddy. You absolutely were the god father of the pedal steel guitar.
I sense some sadness inside of him then, but maybe it's just me...
Great
amazing
full event? plz?
He said he is trying to get somewhere and he is following where the music takes him to get there and sometimes the music doesn’t go there. His improvisation skills are genius level.
Never saw Ted play with a band. Any video out there where he plays with other people?
One of the most beautiful guitar pieces I've ever heard. Lenny was god-like on the fretboard.
amazing!
This guy was on a level far extreme, he’s a virtuoso without a single doubt in the world
That seems like all manner of harmonizing from a melody line. Each single note like a single fretted note in the melody gets accompanied by delicious other notes that evoke the exact feeling. And he does it one after another. Hugely impressive.
An Angel
He is Bill Evans, but on guitar.
Professor!
True musical genius- never to be forgotten….
Tim Greene is one of Gershwin's "Irreplaceable You" musicians. What an incredibly amazing interpretation of that tune! Thanks for posting this gem.
Lovely! Stephen was a great player and very helpful to me when I emailed him for advice.
is this the greatest intro to a song ever.......
My Dad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is hands down one of the greatest musician's and guitarists to walk the earth. His playing is extraordinary evkking thiughts not many musicians can. A complete understanding of music and all its potential. Thanks Ted!
another awful piss poor armature recording effin ignorant monkeys chatting crap no fun to try listening to Ted just a waste.
just another bad recording
