I believe that Ted's unique voice as a musician is immense and when we watch him play, it's very evident that he's way beyond the term "guitar player." His theoretical mastery of music is truly incredible. There will never be another player of this caliber. It was a tremendous loss to all musicians upon his passing. RIP.
I’ve watched this video endless times and wonder.........where are those concepts for chord choices and melody lines in my brain and fingers. There’s just no possibility of me ever discovering what Ted had. So, I have to be content with whatever guitar playing skills I have and try for whatever melodic ideas I’m lead to while playing. I’m convinced that Ted would agree. He was a master of his instrument, but every time he picks it up, he goes way beyond being a guitarist. There’s hardly any word that truly describes his talent combined with a unique inner being. For me.........he’s masterful at every level.
As I read through the comments and have to say , Ted Greene was just a terrific muscian , and person. By listening and marvelling, one passes on and brings forward his influence. So many players and so many ways to play a melody, let all these great musicians influence your play. Thanks for posting Cheers from Calgary
people think if they copy someone they will be a clone, it doesn't happen. so they focus on scales, modes and theory and never get anywhere. We all know the same english words more or less and yet we all speak uniquely. Plus some of Ted's voicings are quite the stretch so you have to make easier versions sometimes!
30 years ago today.
Ted Greene is rapidly approaching the status of "my favorite guitar plsyet", and I'm lovin it.

Couldn't agree more....

Of course it's possible for you to discover something like that, don't insult this man like that.

Google: harp harmonics ted greene
harp harmonics = lenny breau
Then everyone would sound the same. Not very desirable... - Every chord melody player should learn to play like himself!
yeah and yet thousands of players lack of style
