You know, this show is very complex (as you've already noticed) and S2 is when the show goes the hardest at seeding its mystery with half answers that just raise even more questions and setting up many foreshadows to be paid off later, so it is very common for people like myself to take like 2~3 rewatches plus some trivia videos to fully understand the plot and why/how the story unfolded the way it did. However, with your ability to remember smaller details that have been shown long ago plus being able to recall on said details and connect them with new pieces of information when they drop, I've no doubt you'll be able to grasp and understand most of the show in your first watch (which is very impressive) and I'm so eager to seeing that firsthand!

At this point, the great problem of all humans is more than evident: with any type of power or advantage, humans become corrupted, even if they have very strong values or a great sense of justice. I agree with Rem, humans are despicable.

What I love about this series is there's so much mystery but unlike most shows (lost for example) it actually eventually answers them all, it's not just dropping mystery for the sake of keeping you engaged, it's all part of the plot and its a reason this show is so we'll received in my opinion

This show is the opposite of certain other shows that leave the viewer feeling like "they're just making the rules up as they go along!" Everything's super well planned by the author BUT a lot of how well planned it is might only be evident season/s on with hindsight.

Big juicy flashback! This is one of those episode you might want to give a rewatch or two or three. Gotta talk about the music, the song with vocals in Ymir's flashback is called Call of Silence and aside from being hauntingly beautiful it 's also notable because the chorus has the same melody and chord progression as the song Call Your Name from season 1's OST which is the song that plays when Eren plugs the hole in Trost. Super cool and something Hiroyuki Sawano loves doing, calling back to musical themes and reworking them into new contexts.

18:49 - I think Bertholdt was just restating the question Eren asked him. The question he asked was, "What were you thinking?" so Bertholdt began his response with, "Back then... I thought..." before getting into the actual thought. I don't think he was suggesting his thoughts have changed, but I could be wrong. At least, that's how I always interpreted this moment. Speaking of which, I know it's off-topic, but I remember trying to include as many words from the essay prompts as possible when I reached the written portion of tests in college. You know, to help reach the word count. 🤣 Ahhh, memories.

There is nothing to suggest Ymir cares about Historia's family. The only time Ymir mentions Historia's family was when Christa asked if Ymir joining the scouts to find christa have anything to do with her family. Ymir says yes because hearing the news of her family seemingly abandoning her was the reason she wanted to find christa. I assume you are finished season 2, so this shouldn't be a spoiler.

No spoilers Sophie, but if you rewatch Ymir's flashback a couple of times and keep the events of Ilse's notebook in mind you might just have a lightbulb moment. You're pretty observant so I wouldn't be suprised if you get it quickly. Unless ofc your patreon has already steered you there (probably actually. Nevermind, good vid as always)

When they first released this episode, a lot of manga readers were shocked. Due to them showing certain things that we JUST got revealed on the msnga. 😂

Here's something interesting when this episode first aired: Anime-only watchers weren't the only one who got a surprise with Ymir's backstory, so did the manga readers. Most of this episode adapted manga chapters that were released ~5years before this aired...except for the Ymir's backstory part, which was only from a manga chapter released ~5 months before! What happened was, the anime director wanted to know more about Ymir. At this point of the story in the manga, the only info about Ymir was basically the mid episode info of this episode...that she was probably from outside the walls. Isayama himself hasn't finalized Ymir's backstory and wasn't sure where to put it, the anime director's inquiry helped with that. As Isayama was helping the anime staff storyboard this episode, he was also including that in the manga chapter about to be released. So Ymir's backstory appeared in an earlier point for the anime's timeline compared to the manga's. (Which kinda lead to forum discussions of the anime having some manga readers accussing anime-onlies of being manga readers pretending to be one for making accurate predictions, for clout or internet points...when in reality, the anime provided more info earlier for its audience.)

You say you're confused, but I've never seen another reactor put together so many pieces of the puzzle that this episode presents! Or at least they've never verbalized it to the same extent you did. Not to say that everything you say is correct, but there's a lot of great ideas here. I'll only say that there may be a few more dialogue, visual, and _audio_ clues you may pick up on if you rewatch ;)

Light has such a huge advantage over L, L has pretty much caught him already but because L is under the assumption that Kira has a weapon or method of killing and doesn't know about the supernatural element Light is basically able to invent new reasons not to arrest him as he goes. I love the dramatic irony in that we as the audience can see exactly how close he is to the truth, it's one of the show's strongest hooks!

What I love about season two is that in the second half, when you get the Reiner-Bert-Ymir parts, you get bombarded with sooo much information, but you have very little context to it, so it's quite a frustrating season upon first watch! I always imagine the scenes of them talking in the trees as three characters having a casual conversation with "season four knowledge", while Eren (and the viewer) are just dumbfounded. Can't wait to see you piece everything together!

If i was Hiroyuki Sawano, i would lay awake every night for at least an hour thinking "Damn..... i composed the Attack On Titan Soundtrack." and sleep proud of myself. And i hope he is proud of himself, truly, thats one hell of a masterpiece, i can never get over it. When i marry, i want to play it, when i die, play it in my funeral, idc, play it any time of my life, i can't see myself getting tired of listening to it.

Okay usually I enjoy watching new recruits to this anime theorize because it gives us all a chance to relive those moments ourselves.....BUT I feel compelled to give a small vague hint( that won't spoil anything I promise) to add to your theories: Ymir just confirmed she's older than she looks because she KNOWS how long she's been around to make that estimate as well as having vague memories of eating someone. Eren Knows how long he's been around because in addition to his trauma from when his mother was eaten he also has witnesses to his life like Armin,Mikasa, and Hannes from BEFORE he discovered he can turn into a titan which we the viewer also seen, so unlike Ymir Eren is definitely as old as he looks.

I would love, after you finish the series, to see you do a video on your favourite music pieces from this show, would be interesting.

I think Reiner's split personality stems more from his guilt than from his care for his fellow soldiers (though he does care for them). He can't come to terms with his sins, so his mind, as a self-defense mechanism, makes him believe that he's a soldier protecting the wall rather than a warrior who destroyed it.
