me and my sister were dying of laughter the other day when we thought about the entire concept of "if he tries to win then he's kira, but if he loses then he's kira" lmao.
What is important here is HOW he loses or wins, if he throws, if he thinks twice before winning... this kind of stuff would show he is overthinking about trying to be less guilty.
I appreciate the fact you laugh when the line "he's risking his life".. and they cut to playing tennis. Very few people laugh at that in these reactions
Really?! It tickled me because of how serious the moment was and then just cuts to L having the time of his life playing tennis haha!! It's such a funny juxtaposition!
One thing to be aware of regarding L's usage of percentages: the writer explained after the show aired that basically every time L says a percentage, like "I'm 3% sure you're Kira", he's actually adding 90% on top of it. So when he said "I only suspect you 1%" in his head he was actually saying 91%, but he intentionally makes it sound lower in order to keep people from figuring out his true thoughts about it
There are as many opinions as there are people on the planet, so unfortunately there lots of people having horrible opinions/world views/morals... Otherwise there wouldn't be crime or war. It's sad but that's how humans are
The 4 notes scene was somewhat lost in translation in all english subs/dubs/manga, because explaining it would require a full screen TN note. The way that Japanese grammar works, the numbered order of the notes would seem incomplete, like saying "Gods of death who love apples" while Kira's order would say "God's of death love apples" Most would respond with "...who love apples what? Is this incomplete? Maybe the message will be continued" But Kira would have an ego and insist on the real message which most people wouldn't notice. Hence revealing the 4th note basically sayimg "caught you red-handed"
I genuinely think your insight/predictions are the most intriguing and exciting out of all the current death note reactors right now. You are able to enjoy the depth of storytelling and nuanced characters without pre-existing bias and it really highlights the value of viewing both (Kira and L) opposing perspectives. Of course we're not talking about building statues to worship Kira but the value of personal introspection that the show brings.
At this point in the story, I see it as: when L gives a very low % chance that Light is Kira, he is thinking about it from an objective stance from evidence alone. He is being realistic that from what he actually has, he wouldn't be able to convince anyone else. But he has a hunch that he can't get over, and every time he seems to find exonerating evidence, it is never perfect; it's never 100% exonerating, so he never quite has enough to dismiss his hunch. He is also not willing to just pull the trigger on his hunch unless the objective % is reasonably high, and I think it's these two sides of him interacting that make all his choices SO interesting.
l would also like to add that the author confirmed that L’s percentages were basically meaningless; L was always certain that Light was Kira from the very start. Source: Death Note Volume 13
I think a lot of people who defend Kira (those who support his actions, I mean, not those who just like his character) like the idea of Kira more than the man himself. The idea of someone who kills criminals to protect others has its appeal, but I believe Light only uses that to disguise the real reason behind what he's doing, even to himself: he was bored. This is the most exciting thing that's ever happened to him. If all he wanted was to create a better world and rule it like a god, all he had to do was sit down, shut up and write names. But no, he killed Lind L. Tailor, he killed the FBI agents, he killed Naomi Misora (while mocking her), and now he's trying to kill L. This game is the solution to the boredom he was feeling in episode 1, just like it is Ryuk's.
SPOILER ALERT The reason I like Kira is because he actually wielded way more results than anything ever as mentioned later. He stopped wars, he almost extinguished crime.
@@Starkiller2725 Well, you're half right. The wars he did indeed end, but the crime statistics in the series aren't trustworthy. Sure, in theory, crime was reduced by 70%, but when there's someone killing all criminals, many crimes are unlikely to be reported. Maybe someone steals from you, but you don't think they deserve to die for that, so you keep quiet. Maybe the crime is serious but the criminal is a family member, so you don't report them either. This type of thing is bound to happen, giving the illusion of reduced crime. As an example, the SA statistics in... I believe its Sweden, are seen as high, but is this because SA happens more there than in other countries? Not necessarily. If the population trusts the system to help them, they'll be more likely to go to it for help, making it seem like the crime is much more common in that place. Statistics are annoying like that lol. Is it possible crime was reduced? Yes. Not from people who matter, I think, but regardless, it's possible there was less crime under Kira's rule. The wars are more definitive. If you think that's enough to support Kira, despite his god complex and clear pleasure in taking lives, even innocent ones, okay, but helping others is not, and never has been, what Light was interested in.
@, by your logic more people who normally wouldn't report a crime would have reported it because they do know that the criminal would get punished by Kira. I doubt that most people would stop reporting crimes just because they want to spare someone from being killed, although i do admit that a significant portion would indeed do it.
I watched/read this as a teenager and, yes, I did at first root for Light. Over time, I started leaning more towards L, and today, 15+ years later, I'm fully on L's side of things. Age/growth really does change perspective over time. I also had a lot of anger when I was a teen. I still love the hyper-intelligent back and forth between them regardless. That was what I admired most about this story to begin with.
I understand why people like Light. First, he possesses that charm, charisma, and intellect that makes people like serial killers. More importantly, when I was younger, I used to take things at face value and believe things people say. Like believing how Light genuinely cares about making the world a better place. After a couple of decades and a lot of life experience, I understand that Light only cares about himself. He doesn’t care about saving the world per se, he cares about being the god who saves and rules the world. He thinks he’s the best human ever, and so it makes sense for him to want to shape the world into what deems to be the best. Over and over he demonstrates that he only cares about himself, and doesn’t hesitate for a second to do anything to save himself. Unfortunately, people really want to latch on to the Messiah figure, so we just want to believe it’s all good 😅
Oh I completely get it! As I said in my outro - if I was in my teens watching this I probably would have latched onto Light and be a supporter of what he was doing, rooting for his success. But I find it difficult to do as an adult probably because I see the red flags haha!
Huh that's weird cause when I was in my teens first time watching death note I was like "sweet we are focusing on the villain pov" like never once I've buy him being "good". Tbh the only time I kinda buy it was after the first time killing someone he had a meltdown and just talks himself into thinking he's the "good" guy. The times i did root for him cause it was fun more than anything. But Ig for some people someone like light is somehow morally good
@@yuuya3639 Here's a thought exercise, what if Light instead of killing criminals, he was killing off rich people that were parasites on the society. Morally nothing has changed, he is creating a better society. He is still a mass murderer, would you think he was the good guy? Changing nothing else about the show except maybe he kills a millionaire but the millionaire was a morally good guy. He gives back to the society, he is a pillar of his community(or hell she/they?). But by him being a small part of the rich people class, he is also executed. Is Light still the bad guy or is he a revolutionary? We will also keep his motivation same, he is bored and is inundated by constant news of people being let off, mass lay offs, the prices skyrocketing while companies are patting themselves on their backs for record profits.
@@thefonz8373 Changing the victims doesn't really change anything, Light is still doing it for the same reason; He gets off on the power and thrill of it but that's not "big enough" so he "rewrites the narrative" in his head to make himself the best person ever. For example he could be killing off the poorest people to reduce the population because "they're suffering anyway and the needs of the many" and "I'm being as random as I can about it" (very Thanos).
The one who said that light is not the worst to have the death note probably forget that ryuk himself said in eps one that several death note come to human world in the past and no one kills so many people like light do in just 5 days. I mean he's probably the worst to have the death note. I might be surprised if I know how much people he kills in the entire series.
I've been loving your reactions to this show! Also love your Bulbasaur earrings by the way! :D In my opinion, the show picks up even more at this point.
I can't get enough of your wild future predictions 😆 Plot/characters of Death Note deserve to be analyzed the way you do it. I first watched Death Note when I was about 13, and I remember not liking Light back then same as now. Although, it wasn't the mass murdering that was a red flag for my 13yr old self, but the way he manipulates all female characters who express sympathy towards him.
Ah I'm so glad I'm doing this show justice! It's definitely up my avenue as a lover of True Crime haha!! Fun fact: I wanted to be a forensic investigator for the longest time but just never pursued it!
i really enjoyed your point about light almost having a fragmented self perception. it’s true, he often refers to himself in ways that seem as if he’s some sort of separate entity from Kira, or vice versa. ive noticed light uses distancing and detachment to cope and/or justify his own self, especially here. while he’s definitely broke himself off from kira while interacting with his father, it’s also very odd that you’ll see he has a recurring habit of referring to himself as “I’m the Light Yagami that’s worried for his father.” or in the previous episode, “…Like Soichiro’s son, Light Yagami, would.” while it’s true he’s possibly only echoing what he thinks those in the 3rd person would name himself as in this situation, it’s still… weird. because he’s still talking about himself as if he’s a different person. he utilizes this mindset to do what he wants without having to feel guilt about it. as if he’s playing two different characters with their own roles.
The game really shows how L's own social skills aren't exactly up to par, lol. He's a little too eager in regards to taking everything about Light suspicious. "Kira hates to lose, Light wanting to win the game is suspicious!"
That’s not quite it, if L figures that Light throws the game or shows hesitancy in winning then it’s going to look as though he’s overthinking how L perceives him. Which would be suspicious behavior that points to him being Kira.
@@TheDeathOmen _"That’s not quite it, if L figures that Light throws the game or shows hesitancy in winning then it’s going to look as though he’s overthinking how L perceives him. @@Mansplainer2099-jy8ps And that’s part of it, because they both know L flat out stated he’s suspecting Light. No matter how Light acts it doesn't reveal anything, it's really just a pre-emptive thing to his next move.
I really have to say, your deductive reasoning throughout these reaction videos is impressive. I won't say whether you were right or wrong on one thing or the other, as that would be spoilers, but after all the 10 episodes: I am quite impressed.
Another banger episode! The mental chess is insane when it comes to L and Light. And I think you're absolutely right, Light is charismatic and I think even in the second episode there were fan-sites for Kira (most probably set up by teens at the time). He is very likeable but in the end it's all a front, as is with many psycho- or sociopathic people. The way he uses his charm to bait a girl on a date as part of some scheme for his own survival says it all, imo. Also: I've always been a great defender of L's way of sitting and sweet tooth!
You are allowed to dislike Light, while admiring the writing and his intelligence. He is a bad person but an interesting character. You're right, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. It's a great show though as it forces us to look at morality, justice (both natural justice and our justice system) and human nature. You also make some great points about dystopian novels and how our views change as we grow and mature. Btw, the Japanese version of the Death Note musical is excellent and they sing throughout the tennis match 🎾. Well worth a watch on UA-cam once you finish the series. Quite a lot of philosophy in it as well as good songs.
I do love a good musical so I will have to add that to my watch list!! He is incredibly interesting especially from a psychological perspective. Just watching the way his concepts become twisted as time goes on despite having good intentions to protect people from harm only to be causing harm to others in turn. I think why I love this show and AOT is because it really forces you to think and evaluate your understanding of what you believe to be right and wrong. With Death Note - you either agree with Kira or you don't and you have to come to terms with that decision but at the same time also questioning the concept of the death penalty altogether because who should truly have the power over life and death? With AOT it's the fundamentals of utilitarianism and finding yourself sometimes conflicted on a morally grey issue which you would have formally condemned but now because you are immersed in the story and world-building you begin to feel your mentality shift somewhat! If I had knew anime was this deep I would have started watching years ago!! I've been missing out!!
Yeah, it does make you think about the death penalty and whether any human or the government has the right to end someone's life. I would have watched anime years ago too if I'd known!
@alex9103 yes the English version is great too, I have the English songs on my playlist they're so good. The Japanese actors will always be the real life Light and L for me.
The reason why Light could tell L about Ray wasn't needed to be explained by deduction. Ray showed him his badge during the busjacking and Light even had an alibi in the girl who was with him.
He didn't tell L about Ray showing him his ID because it would then be obvious that he was Kira. If he told L that he saw Ray's badge that's evidence against him. So he led with the idea that L's only reason for believing he's Kira is that he is was ONE of the people followed by Ray at the time before his death. He could put it down to his deduction skills if asked. As far as the show goes - L doesn't know Light saw Ray's badge.
Good point. Another double edged sword. Guess it's all about how he presented the information. A hypothetical: I'm guessing Ray sent the notes he took to the FBI. Now were L to question the girl Light went out with and were their stories not to align, then that would be trouble for Light. So he'd have to at least share the fact that he saw Rays badge rather sooner than later as to not come off as omitting the truth.
@@iampotsataja _"A hypothetical: I'm guessing Ray sent the notes he took to the FBI."_ Factor in that Raye asked Light and the girl he wasn't supposed to identify himself hence he might also not want anyone at the FBI to know. _"Now were L to question the girl Light went out with and were their stories not to align, then that would be trouble for Light. @@Mansplainer2099-jy8ps weren't Light and the girl questioned regarding the busjacking? Why would Light draw that attention to himself by killing someone that close to him? And your theory also hinges on the fact that Light would gamble with Ray not sending the info he gathered to the FBI, which he has no basis on. He doesn't know Ray personally, he has no reason to believe Ray puts pride above integrity as a federal agent.
@@iampotsataja _"weren't Light and the girl questioned regarding the busjacking?"_ Of course they were. (Which begs the question why Naomi wasn't pursuing that info but I suppose she wanted to get in with L and the authorities first.) _"Why would Light draw that attention to himself by killing someone that close to him?"_ Well, obviously, it is always a judgment call. Which is the bigger risk, leaving her a living loose end or another death in my radius? _"And your theory also hinges on the fact that Light would gamble with Ray not sending the info he gathered to the FBI, which he has no basis on."_ What? First of all, it's not my theory, it's just keeping track of the details. Second, I was not saying that Raye Penber just held off on reporting anything about his Light Yagami assignment until Light killed him off, I was specifically referring to revealing his identity to the person he was following and the person's date when he's instructed to not reveal his identity. _"He doesn't know Ray personally, he has no reason to believe Ray puts pride above integrity as a federal agent."_ I know but so what? Light kills off Raye. You're arguing that Light can't 100% be certain that Raye didn't tell lots of people in the FBI "Umm, you know that Japanese kid we sort of suspect of being Kira so I had orders to follow him and we're not supposed to tell anyone we're FBI agents or give our real names? Yeah, I kind of had to reveal I was FBI agent Raye Penber to him, sorry, I know I messed up, but I was like 99.9% sure he's not Kira.", sure, I get that, but you realize you're also arguing that against the show where Light can't be 100% certain he's not bumping off the guy now being considered being demoted or fired over how he handled his "Light Yagami = Kira?" assignment?
10:44 It is 1% because the only suspect and lead (if you call it a lead) they got is that kira might come from the Yagami family and Light got more suspicion on him for his intelligence.
Very good character understanding at the end there. I think your analysis of Light was spot on, so much so, you suspect that he might not be the person who made those tapes, because it's not in his character (we'll see)! You're also right in saying that basically he's a very immature character. I think that's a pretty fair assessment. Teens who watch liked Light, but adults liked L. Imo, the older you get, the more you side and agree with L, and meta-wise, i think that's a really cool aspect to this series upon rewatch.
It's interesting being able to reflect on this from a perspective of being younger and knowing myself I definitely would have jumped on the Light bandwagon! But yes - definitely not in line with Light's character so far so felt like an immediate RED FLAG to me because why would he start drawing more attention to himself now when he's already got the pressure of L baring down on him? Just doesn't make sense for someone as intelligent as Light!
Thank you so much!! I am getting more vocal with expressing my theories - I always worry people are going to shout at me for them so I didn't speak as much but now I'm growing more confident to talk!
What baffles me is is how many people only criticize light bacause he goes beyond the initial goals he set out. Like if he had actually just stuck to killing only criminals then that would be fine. I disagree with that sentiment strongly. IMO even in an ideal situation where he never strayed from that vision, and only ever killed people that were 100% guilty of the crimes of which they were accused I'd still consider him a serial killer and a monster. It's uncomfortable to me how many people out there are like "well he had the right idea, just went about it the wrong way" like no, he had the wrong idea from the start.
i have something similar to L except it's not sitting, but clicking my fingers next to my right ear. helps me get ideas out and recall things from say years ago. some people find it odd but it genuinely helps me focus/think/concentrate/remember.
I'm glad you found something that helps you focus! I have a little quirk of rubbing my feet together to comfort myself. For focusing I usually fiddle with my fingers to try and formulate my thoughts haha!!
Light always intends, the whole time, to be the god of the new world. At no point is it about the work. If Light accomplishes his goal and dies in the process, he will feel he's failed. I think Ryuk even points out, when you've done the job, Light, the only killer that'll be left is yourself.
When I first read Death Note years ago, from the 1st volume I always thought Light was a bad guy and L was good guy because it seemed clear cut. But then my teenage little sister argued with me Light is the hero who should create his perfect world. I was shocked to learn that not only does Light have irl fans actually, but that one of them was my own family. Hopefully my little sister won't secretly turn out to be Kira 😰
Cute earrings. I agree with most of everything you said at the end there. But the fundemental flaw regarding Light is that he actually doesn't love his family. Even for a japanese person he is extremely formal and distant from his parents at all times. Even with a genius level intellect, up until now what we pieced together of him is that he was always placing first on nationals on anything he tried. Light is like 17 when this show starts. He gives all the signs that he barely had any childhood, he refrained from dating girls because of study. He dropped sports because of study. His dad put enourmous amounts of not just intellectual and physical pressure on him, of morality also. I'm not excusing Light of anything, I'm just saying, he lived with pressure and was not treated emotionally (even if he could, he'd probably try to be a therapist to his own therapists and revert power structures). Light would have always turned 'evil' regardless of what power was bestowed on to him, magical or not, because he is a psychopath. And the confirmation of this will keep popping up in following episodes, he is completely incapable of having regard for a human life that isn't his own, and he spent his whole life being trained to think he's physically, mentally and morally superior.
I'm so early! I was waiting for your next reaction to come out! I can't wait for you to see how their relationship and their characters progress more through the story.
Honestly this show is phenomenal. I have to show restraint not to binge watch! Videos may slow down due to me starting full time work soon and Christmas coming up but I will still be posting Death Note twice a week!
There is a whole inside joke on the fandom about L trying to kiss Light to prove he is Kira, and both having a mental battle and the lengths they are willing to go to prove if Kira is homophobic or not bases on how gay/homophobic Light react 😂
19:00 No i dont think so. The smartest thing light could have done was ignore ray penber, ignore L, and pretend that nothing was different. Complete school, get a job, live a normal life. It's lights desire to be known, to be seen punishing criminals. If light didn't do that, L would never catch light.
Well, even right now at this point in the show L really has nothing on light. So long as L never finds out about the death note and Light doesn't go out of his way to taunt L, there is literally no danger at all to light.
@@Sirlancelot-of-Faunas-Forest I disagree, Light "switching gears" to give up on detective work and become a CEO or something would be suspicious to L so L would still keep comparing Light Yagami's behavior to Kira's but Light would have less insight, it would be all "camera and potato chips" situations.
@Mansplainer2099-jy8ps lights not a detective tho at this point. He literally hasn't even graduated school yet. Its not weird for ppl to want to change professions during college. So long as light is careful when using the DN theres literally no risk to light.

Just gonna say: All gods exhibit human flaws in their stories, not just the greek gods (also greek gods in myth are not the same as the gods as worshiped), including the Christian one (as represented in the bible)
the deductive reasoning test doesn't translate well into english. Because of the way japanese syntax works if you line up the notes by exhibit number it would lead any reasonable person to assume that there would be a 4th note to complete the sentence. However, because light knows there are only 3 real notes, he lines it up in the way he intended instead of the more obvious way anyone else would.
It's so funny. From the first second you know why the tapes are probably not from the real Kira. At the same time, you think L might fall for it. - That effectively means you think you're smarter than L. 😸😸😸 humans - it's always the same story.
@@Mansplainer2099-jy8ps The viewers were clearly told here that the tapes are from Kira - so in this respect we don't have any more information than L. And even if we had (or have) more information, I'm afraid L is still miles ahead of us with his ability to combine (he just needs less information than we do). So our “advantage” is really nothing more than a “consolation prize”. 😼
(30:35 ~ 31:05) - I'll have to disagree on that. Gods of pretty much any pantheon and religion are completely twisted and done some exceptionally messed up things without blinking an eye, so Light would fit right in. There are some outliers here and there (usually deities of harvest/family/hearth) that have unblemished reputation, but those are a clear minority and don't really have any significant tales connected to them.
It depends. I can speak for Hinduism, atleast from what I know, and while there are fierce and sometimes outright violent deities in my faith who give off the impression of immoral actions to less informed people, the context of their 'violence' plays a huge role in understanding them. Each deity has a purpose in a story, which aims to convey things on a number of plains to the listener. The Goddess Kali, for example, wears garlands of skills and is known to have drunk the blood of innumerable Asuras (demons) in the most rageful manner. She, however, demonstrates the uncontrollable overwhelming aspect of nature which often gets overlooked in other faiths, but is also deemed as part of reality and venerated in Hinduism. Hope this gave some clarity!

You will be so surprised by how much people support mass killings. Not only in this anime, but in Attack on titan as well. The thing is that not only they defend the murderers but are mad at people that don't agree with them. I think that this happens because most are children, although I have no proof. These anime have so much more to them then just the plot! The art, the simbolism, the paralels with the real world. Guys, the author is mocking you! With that said, just ignore those and keep up the good work!
Make no mistake; with the Death Note Light is a garbage human being. Having to defend why you don't like him to people that defend him is madness i.e the world we live in today. I do happen to like Light. I'm chaotic neutral. I like watching him lose control and be forced to come up with plans even if they are to stroke his own ego. I also think as you brought up the Death Note adds a layer of corruption onto people that use it. Nature vs Nurture maybe? But, what I don't understand is why people who don't like Light absolutely love L especially because they are so similar. L was out here playing with Lind L Taylor's life in episode 2. I don't think it matters that Lind was scheduled to die, L's approach was just wait and see. Much like how Light was with his first kill. How really different would it be if L had found the Death Note? Great reaction and commentary.

About what you said about Light genuinely caring for his father and family, don't you remember when he was making his exploding drawer, he was thinking to himself how if he's not careful he might end up killing his family? He's not worried about putting in too much gasoline, he means it'd be easier if his ascent to godhood does not involve killing off his family with the Death Note.

So when he said "I only suspect you 1%" in his head he was actually saying 91%, but he intentionally makes it sound lower in order to keep people from figuring out his true thoughts about it
"I know you know I know, but would you know if I you knew I knew?"
I haven't been reading the comments, so I didn't know people were defending Light. Holy cow. But people thought Walter White was a hero too.
There are as many opinions as there are people on the planet, so unfortunately there lots of people having horrible opinions/world views/morals... Otherwise there wouldn't be crime or war. It's sad but that's how humans are
Yeah I found it bizarre haha!! But hey - whatever floats their boat!
The 4 notes scene was somewhat lost in translation in all english subs/dubs/manga, because explaining it would require a full screen TN note.
The way that Japanese grammar works, the numbered order of the notes would seem incomplete, like saying "Gods of death who love apples" while Kira's order would say "God's of death love apples"
Most would respond with "...who love apples what? Is this incomplete? Maybe the message will be continued"
But Kira would have an ego and insist on the real message which most people wouldn't notice. Hence revealing the 4th note basically sayimg "caught you red-handed"
OHHH!! Well thank you for the heads up!!
"There's a 1% chance" When it comes to tracking down a serial killer who could be ANYONE in the whole word...that's a huge percent.
Your predictions truly baffle me lol, anyway great reaction
Thank you so much!!
SPOILER ALERT
The reason I like Kira is because he actually wielded way more results than anything ever as mentioned later.
There is a CJ Dachamp video that sorta analyzes his kill count. Funny video, highly recommend
I've been loving your reactions to this show! Also love your Bulbasaur earrings by the way! :D In my opinion, the show picks up even more at this point.
AW ESPEON PROFILE PIC!! I love it!! Thank you so much for watching the react. The show is phenomenal. I love it so much!!
I can't get enough of your wild future predictions 😆
Plot/characters of Death Note deserve to be analyzed the way you do it.
@@DrSophieDarlingReactsOh wow that's some cool insight!
I love ur commentary! Glad that the algo brought me here! 💚
Glad to have you here on this journey!!
i really enjoyed your point about light almost having a fragmented self perception. it’s true, he often refers to himself in ways that seem as if he’s some sort of separate entity from Kira, or vice versa. ive noticed light uses distancing and detachment to cope and/or justify his own self, especially here. while he’s definitely broke himself off from kira while interacting with his father, it’s also very odd that you’ll see he has a recurring habit of referring to himself as “I’m the Light Yagami that’s worried for his father.” or in the previous episode, “…Like Soichiro’s son, Light Yagami, would.” while it’s true he’s possibly only echoing what he thinks those in the 3rd person would name himself as in this situation, it’s still… weird. because he’s still talking about himself as if he’s a different person. he utilizes this mindset to do what he wants without having to feel guilt about it. as if he’s playing two different characters with their own roles.
18:45 Your idea is quite interesting for someone who claims to be innocent. The chance that you, Sophie, are Kira has gone up 7%.
... what's your face and name btw?
I think its really serious when you remove the inner monologue and its so fucking funny xD
Which would be suspicious behavior that points to him being Kira."_
That would obviously be the case except L already told Light he suspects him of being Kira.
@@Mansplainer2099-jy8ps And that’s part of it, because they both know L flat out stated he’s suspecting Light. Nah. L told Light that he suspects him of being Kira just after the tennis match.

No, L has "tainted the test".
Thank you so much!!
I didn’t realize until years later he basically outed himself on the Ray detail.
It really just shows how clever he is to play to people's weaknesses! It's both admirable and terrifying!!
Good reactions, good analysis, good show. Can't wait for more!
Thank you so much!!
Great reaction. Also, I always thougth about the percentages this way... Light 7%, the other 93% is shared by the billions other humans in the world.
Hope you get better soon. Thank you so much for the fun video.
Thank you lovely!!
OMG the musical YES 100% is a masterpiece. The English version is absolutely perfect too 🖤 more people need to know about it existing
@@alexg9103And the music was written by Frank Wildhorn, who also wrote Jekyll and Hyde
@@iampotsataja _"A hypothetical: I'm guessing Ray sent the notes he took to the FBI."_
Factor in that Raye asked Light and the girl he wasn't supposed to identify himself hence he might also not want anyone at the FBI to know.
_"Now were L to question the girl Light went out with and were their stories not to align, then that would be trouble for Light. So he'd have to at least share the fact that he saw Rays badge rather sooner than later as to not come off as omitting the truth."_
Factor in that Light may have killed that girl offscreen.
@@iampotsataja _"weren't Light and the girl questioned regarding the busjacking?"_
Of course they were. (Which begs the question why Naomi wasn't pursuing that info but I suppose she wanted to get in with L and the authorities first.)
_"Why would Light draw that attention to himself by killing someone that close to him?"_
Well, obviously, it is always a judgment call. Which is the bigger risk, leaving her a living loose end or another death in my radius?
_"And your theory also hinges on the fact that Light would gamble with Ray not sending the info he gathered to the FBI, which he has no basis on."_
What? First of all, it's not my theory, it's just keeping track of the details. Second, I was not saying that Raye Penber just held off on reporting anything about his Light Yagami assignment until Light killed him off, I was specifically referring to revealing his identity to the person he was following and the person's date when he's instructed to not reveal his identity.
_"He doesn't know Ray personally, he has no reason to believe Ray puts pride above integrity as a federal agent."_
I know but so what?
10:44
It is 1% because the only suspect and lead (if you call it a lead) they got is that kira might come from the Yagami family and Light got more suspicion on him for his intelligence.
I really like how your insights! You're very smart, I like seeing your predictions! aha
Yeah his suspicion is more than 1% it's actually 5% which more percentages than any other suspect
No hints from me, but holy, you're really smart.
Thank you!! I blame all the true crime documentaries I've consumed over the years!
10:11 You was totally thinking "should I try sitting like that once?" Weren't you? 😂
Maybe...
@20:10 Great catch. And L catches it too.
There are more that 100 people in the Kanto region of Japan. 1% may not be a majority, but it is a plurality, and probably the biggest one L has.
By smartest thing I mean on his current trajectory - not what he should have done in the past haha!

Well, obviously we the audience have the advantage over L that we have more insight on Light.

Fun Fact and Somewhat Minor Spoiler:
If L gives a percentage that means he's at least 90% certain
I always thought that L was 100% sure, like based on vibes alone. He just needed the evidence.

You realize you just supported zelg's point, right?
You will be so surprised by how much people support mass killings. Not only in this anime, but in Attack on titan as well. The thing is that not only they defend the murderers but are mad at people that don't agree with them. I think that this happens because most are children, although I have no proof.
_"I also think as you brought up the Death Note adds a layer of corruption onto people that use it."_
Semi-spoiler: There is virtually no evidence for that and some evidence against it.
@@Mansplainer2099-jy8ps I guess I could argue humanity's curiosity that can be detrimental - eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge, etc. In itself the Death Note is what it is which is why the Shinigami are pretty neutral... mostly. But as Ryuk says he does this for entertainment. He knows in the hands of a human that there is a greater possibility that it will get used.
I think this show was meant for you, by deducing the plot development you are playing a detective role and being rewarded with the confirmation.
Honestly I love this show for that reason haha!! I get to engage my brain because it doesn't hold your hand and tell you everything outright!
It was really interesting hearing your thoughts, I just found this channel today, I am a Kira supporter through and through, from when I was a child to now working as an adult, but that's just me, I think no hate should be given to your process of thought, like how you said people hated that you dislike Light, you can dislike him, heck you can call me trash for supporting Light, go ahead, that's a human right. However, I should also say that I would have also mocked Naomi before sending her to the gallows, there's only two things in life, either you win or you lose. Naomi lost and can be stepped over. But again that's just me, it has been a long time since I have seen good opposing points. I hope I can continue to watch your reactions. Have a great day
*_Light is the hero humans need but not the one they deserve!_* Like "Free Luigi" of the UnitedHealthcare CEO killer right now 🤣
2:30 L is likely lying about being a British junior champion because it would be easy to get a list and bio of past British junior champions 🤔
4:16 Once played a school match against one of the top players off the whole east coast (yeah, I lost thoroughly) 😂
4:34 I know that you know that I know that you know that I know............................... 😏
26:00 Prewatched!!! 🤪
😂 I'm gonna bonk you on the head for the pre-watched comment Enurt! People keep accusing me of that and it's so funny because like I have the time to sit and fake a react!
Still amazing that you played against a top player. Must have been good to get that far!
@@DrSophieDarlingReacts Hopefully it's quite obvious I'm just joshing about "Prewatched" - you're just too good, Dr. (if I didn't know any better, _you_ might be Kira in disguise) 😁
As for the match, I was _not_ supposed to be the opponent! It was my teammate but was out with illness. So I substituted so could see firsthand how I'd fare (very badly, if I may reiterate) 🤣
@@enurtsold3296 Oh it's very obvious don't worry haha!! For no ulterior purposes at all, what's your real name and face?! >.>
OH NO!! Well at least you had the guts to do it! I would have chickened out haha!!
@@DrSophieDarlingReacts Cool, it's good to know I'm not offending. As for the question, if I told you I'm a past junior champion... oh wait!! You almost got me! 😝
Also, _everybody_ wanted to play against the top players to experience how good they are firsthand. Guess I just lucked out 🤗
@@enurtsold3296 I knew you were jesting so no worries!! Though you should see the very serious comments that I've had telling me I'm faking my reacts - it's been a wild ride haha!!
That's fair!! Though I would have still been like "oh shit!"
