Glastonbury - In search of the Holy Grail.
A trip to Glastonbury, the place where legend has it, the Holy Grial might be buried. Whether it is or not I have no Idea, I left my spade at home. Glastonbury is a strange and wonderful place of both the wacky and the profound. I really love it.
We took a trip up the Tor, which I haven't done since I was a kid. Lillian came along (not as a pillion, she came with Elias and his mate Charlie). It was her very first time up the Tor. It's a steep one but so worth it for the view, you can see the Somerset levels and can even view the festival site.

MOTO TOURING MESSES WITH YOUR HEAD - and a trip to Clevedon
Переглядів 1,1 тис.День тому
Anyone else with me on this? You do a long trip on your bike and it's pretty much all you can think about after? I know the trip from Bristol to Turkey left a real mark on me. It was actually quite a significant time for me to be away and alone. I had some things I needed to think about and the solitude was a godsend. I came back feeling better and more prepared for the busy time ahead and also...

BAFFLE HAUS - Pontypool Great coffee, awesome food, motorbikes everywhere - what's not to like? In this episode I take a trip to the amazing Baffle Haus in Pontypool. This is a place I have wanted to visit for a while, clearly lots of other people think the same. I arrived just 5 minutes after opening time and it was already getting busy. I was ushered in by the parking attendant (They have par...

I accidentally managed to get myself mixed up in a biker gang ride-out! It's a long title I know, but this is all about bikes and kit. I smashed my GoPro 10 in a little accident filming the last episode. I wasn't too upset about it as it has been a nightmare for the most part - battery pulls, freezing up just when I needed to to record, it's been a tense relationship with the GoPro. I've secret...

End of April Update and My Wonky Forks

Well April has been and gone with only 1 little ride around Bristol. A huge amount of change though and plans for some trips in the not so distant future. One thing that needs fixing badly however is the issue I still have with the bike after little spill in Belgium - not just bend handlebars, but wonky forks! It's al fixable and explains why the handling has been so bad for so long. Time for a...

Hiya, love my Goose, had it 4 years and many adventures. 2 improvements for me. 1 -I put an inflatable (thin) mat underneath the sleeping bag - not necessary but I'm an old git so just that little bit more comfy 2 - use a tarp - its just a Vango not specific to Goose but does the job (not in gales thoughj!). Its made a great difference as its created an external porch which in wet weather is a godsend - able to cook and more importantly roll in and out while staying dry - been a real boon. In dry weather not needed but comes into its own in the wet. Another subscriber gets much the same effect see CharlesDaleActor using external poles - ingenious but I prefer my cover to come across the bike...limits storage but keeps bike dryish. Sure there are many more permutations, a month In France in September, will explore! Like your review, straight to the point. Cheers

Thanks mate. Appreciate the comment. I've heard the inflatable mattress addition is a good one. Someone else mentioned swapping out the goose mattress with a thin blow up mattress which made the roll tighter and smaller on the back of the bike. Some.good tips there mate which I will be looking into for sure. Thanks!

I did 2 3500mile tours around Europe on a 883R, got a tall sissy bar and strapped a bag to it . Mine had forward controls which made it comfortable on the legs but meant you need a good seat as more weight on your backside. I had slip on pipes and a S&S air filter, once it was tuned improved the ride no end. Fuel injection is better for riding in the mountains (alps) as it adjusts the mix automatically, carbs need adjustment or run rough in my experience at altitude. I doubt you'll regret buying a sporty! 👍

I read Glastonbury and thought aha..., then I saw you on Thundy and wondered, where is then the Drum kit? Second thought..., OK, Liliane is bringing it in the car, but even that turned out negative! ..., and then the realisation and momentary disappointment of no special apperance on the centre stage at the Music Festival. Instead, we got treated to a really enjoyable visit to a place that i'd always thought was just the name giver for the world famous music party. Thanks for yet another good and interesting video, as well as correcting my false perceptions! Also congrats on getting to grips with your audio issues of the past. I'm sure I enjoyed watching this just as much as you apparently did, living it out with the next gen., and your "future biker lady"?

Beautiful place 👍 On my list now 😊 Btw, went out this week to look at and check out some bikes… like you I also have had this Sportster itch…. I’m cured…was able to compare a Sportster with an Indian Scout and Scout bobber…. the Indian won on all points… such a smooth and easy to handle and nimble bike … the sportster felt like a real heavy and lumpy thing compared to the Indian …. for me definitely no Sportster …. if you have the chance to compare them then definitely do so 😊

I'm just planning my next tour after having been 3 days in the Black Forest last month. If I ride out on any given day, east of where I live, for a couple hours, and the ride back (towards west) is going well and the weather is fine, i'll often think, "why can I not carry on till I reach Calais"? It's been so many years since I last rode in England, so that is what i'm planning right now. I 've found a Calais/Dover ferry crossing for just £42, so that just has to be taken advantage of! Yep, I get'cha on the Sportster argument, I was one of those who also said "NO", when you first mentioned it but i've had 2nd thoughts. They say, "where there's a will, there is a way" I mean, look at Iggs'n'Mort doing their journey (who you were definately referring to), going not just sooo far on a Sporty, but doing it two-up on a 883. So go do it Matt, bugger the others!! If I ever had a Sporty again, it would defo be the 883R, I borrowed one for a half day some years ago, loved it. Hey, this was a short but sweet journey, that you took us on, annd in a corner of the country that I hardly know, despite growing up in the south. I bet that beautiful "little" Pier is grade-listed? I say little coz I was used to the Brighton Pier growing up, somewhat bigger than here, but then again, Brighton was never built with a Ferry in mind, as was Clevedon not designed for Amusement arcades! The little chat you had with us on the beach was most enjoyable. It's always interesting to listen to your thoughts and life experiences, spoken with your easy listening voice. Every time we see that narrow squeeze along the side of ya house, I think, " next time, I must look how scratched his wing mirrors are..., but I always forget! Thanks, a good video..., yet again!

The bigger the trip though, the stronger the thoughts of just wanting to jump straight back out and do it all again. It's about an hour (ish). Really worth a visit, I'll be back for sure. Language skills, not something I had at school! Lived in Scandinavia from age of 20 until my kid 30's. Married to a Norwegian so it's kind of in my blood now, been speaking it over half my life. (Now that is a strange thought)

@@thebristolthunderbird ....no it's not, i've spoken Swissgerman also for more than half my life, I even dream and swear in Swissgerman, it carries more weight and satifies me better than swearing in English! I have a friend in Colerne and might connect the visit with Pontypool on my way up to Sis in Shrewsbury. Ever done the Shropshire Hills, love it there. Thx.

I've had mine for a good while. Purchased it second hand so it may have been a slightly faulty one. Had to battery pull quite regularly. Really good quality otherwise.

That looks like an amazing place! Unless I’m mistaken, that was a real Harley XR750, one of the coolest bikes ever built. And then that CBX on top of it! When I make it over to the UK again, that will be on my list of places to visit. I was super impressed with your Norwegian! To my untrained ear, it sounds like you’re 100% fluent. Really enjoyed this one, thanks for sharing it.

I've never been there, no excuses!!! Love the 5 minute MH Tips. Sat in the car at Cribbs now as just had to get out of there as sooooo busy. So perfect timing for your MH Tips. For me it's riding a bike, no idea why it's so good for me. But I deffo do that thing of going down a rabbit hole in my head, and it's always negative thoughts 🤷🏻
