Go ahead and get yourself the Harley you’re longing for. There’s nothing like a bike with a character. A bike with a soul. That’s why I love riding my T’bird and now my new Guzzi. When you start the engine of these bikes it feels like the beast came alive. If you love something and can’t get it out of your head for quite some time, it’s a sign that you’ve got to have it. Good luck mate!
@@thebristolthunderbird from time to time I have a ride on a friend’s modern jap bike. Very smooth and all the gizmos available on the mode joystick, but I feel nothing inside. Like I’m riding a sewing machine. 😆
Just do it! If you really want it you won’t regret. I was riding cruiser bike for the first time last month, hired Honda Rebel 1100 in Lisbon… and it shook my world… very nice bike, just missing v2 🤷♂️😉 So I would say listen to your heart and get yourself Harley 💪
There is a channel on You Tube called Laura Danielle. She rides a 883 Iron Sportster all over the USA and Canada... doing 400, 500, 600 miles a day for weeks. Camps off her bike some too. No big fairing, nothing fancy, she runs in on rapd and off road... itwaa covered in mud for 2 weeks on the Alaska trip... these EVO bikes are tanks. Much better than the new Sportsters. They can last forever with little maintenance. I've owned 10 HDs... 2 were Sportsters... an 883 and a 1200. Both were some of the most satisfying bikes I've owned. I love my Road King that's on my channel ... but i have nothing but love for a classic EVO sporty. Hope you find one and enjoy your riding no matter what! 😎
Thanks mate. Good to hear your experience with the Harleys. So many haters out there! I'll take a look at that channel, sounds like a good watch. Cheers!
Great video and what a fantastic bikes and cars event. Shame you couldn’t take the Thunderbird. I changed my SV650 (which did everything brilliantly) for a Moto Guzzi V7 which, on paper, is inferior in every way but I wanted more character and absolutely love it. I also want to own a Harley one day having ridden a soft tail 20 years ago (while only a CBT license!). The instant low down torque from the heavy flywheel felt amazing and was so addictive.
I've heard great things about the Guzzi V7. Saw one this morning actually, guy with an open face helmet riding in the rain. Looked like he was loving life!
@@thebristolthunderbird I always thought the V7 looked a bit boring until I sat on one and it just instantly felt right. Oodles of character and they don’t make you want to rush around all the time though you can hustle them too when you’re in the mood.
How good does that Gulf colour scheme look?! That combination of blue and orange never gets old. Apparently, my dad's family came from Clevedon, but I've never been. Looks like it could be worth a visit next year (after the Haynes museum you showed the other day!).
They are heavy, but only a bit heavier than the thunderbird. Old school designs are just heavier aren't they. I get on the Fazer and feel like I'm going to fly!
If your Fazer is stuttering at low revs, it sounds like you might have a blocked pilot jet on 1 of the carbs….I had that with mine & I ran “ Mechanic In A Bottle” through it & took it for a thrash, it cleared after about 45 miles & has been perfect ever since ( 3 years ago))
Yea, my first Fazer was the same. I ended up taking the carbs out and cleaning them, worked perfectly after that. I'll give the Mechanic in a Bottle a go, easier process! Thanks mate.
@ …The last time I tried to buy it I had difficulty finding it for some reason, I ended up buying some other stuff which was recommended by my local car shop ( I think it was called Clean Drive)
DO IT. The “haters” have their own agenda. Either jealousy or they have never ridden one and just follow the pack. I’ve had R1’s, Blades, Ducati’s, GS and a Vmax. I recently took delivery of a brand new Low Rider S and it’s without doubt my favourite bike ever. It’s not about “the best”. It’s about what moves you, and nothing moves or stirs you like the sound and feel of a Harley, and I’ve had a lot to compare against.
I guess you’re not extending the thunder cave for nothing Matt, get that Harley in it! Fantastic video with the cars, bikes and ‘Flapjack review’. And to your point, I found sunglasses in my en-suite the other day haha (like why are they in there?) 🤔
I’d wish I knew that was on in clevedon I would have come down and said hello .as for the sportster my mate has one and he has uprated the suspension and it rides so much better than standard .go on get one , as I’m getting on now maybe I should think of it .
I am going to get one for sure. I've been wanting one for as long as I've been into bikes. Think I'll go for the 1200 conversion though, everyone seems to rate that.
Dear Mr. Thunderbird . I can tell you i have had many bikes over 49 years of riding if you buy a Sportster you will never regret it. If I was stuck i would sell my two other bikes and a kidney!!!! Before selling the Harley. We are here for a good time not a long time. So buy a Sportster. 😊😊😊 . Ride and be safe.Ron from Ireland.
I’ve got a good idea for some content for you in the new year. Doing a video on blood bikes covering Bristol. Give me a shout if you are interested. Great content again👍
@@thebristolthunderbird yes happy to meet up, I only live in Westbury happy to meet up in Fowlers. Have a look at Freewheelers EVS. Just message me when you want to meet up.
I didn't really get the place in Clevedon with the classic cars and bikes. Was it an event, or just a regular get together? Hmm - think the Thunderbird gets you more kudos than a Sportster. Harleys are nice though.
If you have a Harley itch, maybe you should scratch it. Much has been said on many videos about 'character'. The character I like most on a bike is reliability Looked an interesting mix of bikes & cars at the meet.

Clevedon is lovely. I didn't even show the pier, but that is a beautiful bit of Victorian (I think) design and build. Well worth a visit.
And yes that colour scheme is timeless!
Love the Sporster. but they are heavy 😲
Thank you very much for the video 😀
