Many Reasons Not to be a Christian
48:00 My first nail in my coffin of belief dated 1979. Went from Agnostic to about to call my self an atheist. before my knowledge of archaeology.. before my knowledge of Dna berfore my knowledge of most religious studies.
41:10 God is not important this guy just gave him limits .He is not limitless.absolute,.boundless,incalculable,interminable,illimitable,supertemporal,supreme
He does not have the "Christian God's Attributes
The lady must really think her teaching ability to be bad if she thinks the best way to help the kids is by trying to push her religion onto them. If she really thinks her teaching kids has less worth than her religion purhaps she should look for a new job.
Thankyou for putting knots into his theology./
he keeps jumpinp between timeless and in time.... Make up you mind he wants his cake and wants to eat his cake at the same time
With the knowledge of this god Kyle has… it’s easy to see how humans create gods better than the old gods humans also created.
I'd like to see Richard Carrier debate kat Kerr about her various claims.
"Since the primary motive of the evil is disguise, one of the places where evil people are most likely to be found is within the church. What better way to conceal one's evil from oneself, as well as from others, than to be a deacon or some other highly visible form of Christian within our culture?...I do not mean to imply that the evil are anything other than a small minority among the religious or that the religious motives of most people are in any way spurious. I mean only that evil people gravitate toward piety for the disguise and concealment it can offer them." Martin Buber
Feral children have been studied, and have shown no evidence of belief in any kind of God.
My gawd! Granny I do not know how you do it, you have the patience of a saint. I would have tossed his ass the second he started spouting all that nonsense about babies be theistic. Wow, as @mikeharrision1868 said Bollocks from start to finish!
This fellow is doing nothing but spout gobbledygook.
Not only do we not have free will, but neither does God have free will. If God is omniscient, then he's known from eternity past everything he would ever do and everything he would not ever do. So he is not free to do anything other than what he has always known he would do. Hence, God is not free.
My favorite arguments against the existence of a theistic God are the ones that refer to incompatible properties of such a being.
I've only taken a couple art classes in college but it would be pretty easy to explain art through using mostly Christian art. Christian symbology is everywhere and a lot of it due to its historical significance is considered important by secular society.
I learned how to draw a scuba diver in first grade. It stayed on the fridge till after i graduated. thanks art teacher.
Ahhh Frank! A legend in his own mind.
11:29 Should she show images of the Crucifixion? There are loads of Renaissance paintings on that particular gruesome image. I wonder what the teacher would tell the children about that...
0:42 There was a time when people in Western civilizations followed one of the age-old rules of conversation: you didn't talk about religion, politics or sex in polite company. (You can add money to that list. Bragging about how much or whining about how little you had was considered vulgar. You just didn't do it.) However, the buybull is very clear about religious worship. It wasn't a thing to be practiced in public with a preacher talking to his congregation. You were supposed to go into your room, close the door and worship in private. (Matthew 6:6) Religion, especially the Christian religion, was supposed to be a private matter. Why else do people talk about having a "close, personal relationship" with their god?
“The False Principle of Our Education “, Max Stirner,1842. The pre- Marxist Communists were in favor of ‘public schools.’ Today the Marxists are in charge, not Xtians. You are simply another “pious atheist.” You gawd is whatever ‘ idea’- something “ larger than yourself- you worship. “The Unique and Its Property “, Max Stirner,1844/2017 Landstreicher translation for details. Good luck!
I love you granny.❤
I can't even draw a credible stick-figure.
How do you tell the difference between a hidden god and a non-existent one?
All hail the Java Java King! 🐵☕️
Does Mr. Kyle use his “model” of belief for anything else in his life?
According to Mr. Kyle, god has the ability and the responsibility to repent of many things and on many levels.
I had a Lt in the guard with me who was super Christian, always proselytizing ☹️ spent his time working on his Sunday sermon while he was supposed to be working on army stuff. And he was a shit officer anyhow. He finally got “asked” to not renew his enlistment. If he would have been a Chaplin, he still would have sucked
Frank Turek is a preacher, what do you expect...
Should gods reveal themselves or be defined into existence? Word games just aren't convincing.
That it has come to this suggests to me that the christians are genuinely frightened of becoming irrellevant. We've got some hard derp on the way and some hard years to deal with, but they have shown their belly and boy is it a soft one.
Does this guy think atheists didn’t have any “dark nights of the soul” or didn’t beg god to hear us or have any experiential knowledge of god? 🙈
Yep….that’s why they’re atheists.
If Frank Turek proves me anything in the shown video than it is that he doesn't have serious or real answers...
Goodness gracious me! Bollocks from start to finish!
You’re allowed to say bullshit..😊
@@mr.c2485 Not sure BullShit is quit strong enough.
Based on history, this god has to know that the majority of people he creates are not going to believe in him and will go to hell. Yet, he keeps on creating them the same way!!! If you create a car and it keeps malfunctioning, you correct the problem before making more! Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is insane!!!
The god that tried to rectify the problem of people behaving badly by drowning almost the entire population of humans and animal life... That was a flawless plan.
No wonder my lasagna still tastes like sh*t! Lol 😝!
0:30 For some it is a non-existent part of their lives. We are the fortunate ones.
GG, What made you think this guy would be interesting to have a discussion with? (Trying to ask that as politely as possible)
Why are athiests interesting? Why do people want to talk to them?
@@i.m.watching5536original commenter wasn’t talking about theists in general like your generalized comment, what are you on dude
@Abraxun 1) I am not a dude. 2) Jesus Christ is real.❤️
@@i.m.watching5536 I’ll refer to all my guys and gals and non binary pals as a term that I find very gender neutral, even the ones who don’t address stupid things they just said 💜
@@i.m.watching5536 Some are some are not. This Kyle guy reminds me A LOT of Frank Abagnale Jr. He is maybe trying to get a bachelor degree in philosophy, but describes himself as a philosophy graduate, an independent researcher and his book as ground breaking. But let me ask you, which part of what he said in this discussion did you find convincing or ground breaking?
Questioner: 'How can I use a publicly-funded service to push my religion on a captive audience of five-year-olds?' Frank: 'Show them nudes.'
"A lot of atheists don't _reeeeaaaallly_ understand the strength of the argument" Translation: A lot of atheists don't immediately fall to their knees when they hear a bunch of nonsensical hot air that I personally find convincing. An argument doesn't become good just because you like its conclusion. An argument not backed by _evidence_ is nothing but hot air. Show the evidence. If you had any. You don't. So you blame us for 'not getting it' instead. No, we get it, we just happen to have _standards,_ ass.
Divine hiddenness is hilarious. _Why do you believe in a god?_ "Because it hides so well there's absolutely no reason to think one exists!" Fantastic, buddy. Want to come check out my basement? I have a purple snuffleupagus living down there, but it's impossible to find too, you could look for it, fail to find it, and then believe it exists too. I recommend you start looking next to the invisible trans-dimensional dragon, it usually lives in my garage but I couldn't find it recently.
Yet another attempt to say “god is omnipotent and omniscient, but it can’t do that”. Why not accept the far simpler (and logical) position that religions are man-made creations - whether they were to make primitive attempts to understand the world around them, or whether they were what happens when a con-man meets a mark, they are still tall tales.
Who doesn’t enjoy a good story? 😊
Sounds like alotta cope.
Kyle's God is a bit different than the God most theists believe in, and he's right to say that if God wants to pursue alethic values (since that's simply a subcategory of axiology), then technically that does give him the resources to explain the divine hiddenness problem. Divine hiddenness, under this framework, serves alethic purposes by fostering epistemic virtues like humility, perseverance, and an authentic search for truth. Theism predicts a finely-tuned balance of hiddenness, where there is enough evidence to engage seekers but sufficient hiddenness to preserve freedom and encourage genuine relational and intellectual growth. Naturalism, by contrast, does not predict this data. Under the hypothesis of indifference, there is no reason to expect any particular degree of hiddenness, let alone one that aligns with fostering moral, alethic, and aesthetic goods. Furthermore, it is no more likely under naturalism that we would perceive a world appearing to contain an omnipotent, benevolent being (a lack of divine hiddenness) than we would encounter divine hiddenness itself. The presence or absence of such appearances would be entirely random under naturalism, uncorrelated with human flourishing or truth-seeking. Theism, however, predicts that hiddenness would be calibrated to balance freedom and engagement, aligning with God's axiological aims. This fine-tuning of hiddenness not only resolves the problem but also constitutes evidence favoring theism, as naturalism cannot account for why hiddenness would exhibit such purposeful structure. Divine hiddenness thus becomes a feature of theism’s explanatory power rather than a flaw.
So you reject the bible? And pretty much every other “holy” book? Your “conclusion” that theism is more likely is rubbish - you may get to deism through your arguments, but not theism (except, of course, you are presupposing your desired conclusion).
@Kelley_X no, I am simply pointing out what what Kyle's view is. Kelly didn't really give him enough time to explain but if you understood his entire views then that is what he would have pointed out. Divine hiddenness is only a problem for a certain understanding of God. If God's motivations are to maximize alethic values then divine hiddenness is a natural consequence of that.
Hey GG, just a pro tip about your mic: That mic is a front-address, not a top-address, so you want to speak into the front of the grill, not the top of it. It shouldn't be pointed at you like a bullet, but the front facing you so you can see the entire front side. Keep up the good content!
9:02 I just assumed that the reason she didn't want to show artistic nudity was that she didn't wanna get in trouble; I didn't even consider the possibility that she herself was against it. Wouldn't surprise me though
The educated matrix is the title of his book after listening to Kyle, all I heard was his opinion of what the matrix could be !
He said" if we don't believe in God we can never become a saint"..nothing new here it's just wishful thinking...
It's rather amazing how theists can not only know what babies are thinking but they can even know the goals, abilities, and limitations of a supposedly unknowable deity! 😉
I think assuming that a god allows anything, is a leap of faith in defining a god. Why would a god not be subject to the laws of physics?
Pure speculation! Divine Hiddenness is just one more piece of proof for the nonexistence of a God. This guy is a kook!
God wants you to know him, that's why he uses his infinite power and knowledge to make himself seem like he doesn't exist, so he can trick you into making him -beat you up when you make me mad, baby- "send yourself to Hell".
You're right, they wouldn't have a good case but the ADF are Christian Nationalists. They defended a coach leading prayer with (read *to*) his team in a public school. They'll claim it's a violation of Christian rights that she's being 'unfairly' punished for her faith.
Frank Turek is asked about a question regarding faith in the classroom (particularly the *teacher's* faith which is *not* where the conversation about faith in the classroom should center) and he hears an opportunity to proselytize and potentially violate civil law. Remind me again who's this supposed great apologist is?
