Forgot to mention all the shootings in the past two years. Millwoods, Terwilliger, Griesbach. Not to mention the petty crime in ALL areas of the city. News flash, the criminals go to the nice neighborhoods first.

It’s so popular that the homeless rates are growing because people are flooding in. Love the growing community, but wish it wasn’t promoted to live here. It’s not affordable here at all!

I moved from Toronto to Edmonton in April 2024. There's a shortage of good quality rental units. I always lived in a house. I don't want to live in an old 3rd world style apartment. It was hard to find a good quality detached, duplex, or townhouse. Most rental townhomes have 2 bedrooms in the basement. Most rental units don't have air conditioning. Money wasn't an issue for me. I found a brand new duplex to rent. I am paying $2300 per month + utilities. The landlord never bothered installing air conditioning. I was told I don’t need air conditioning in Edmonton. We have a heat warning right now until Wednesday, July 10, with a temperature going up to 35 degrees celsius. Just a heads up for anyone moving from Toronto. Life will be much better once I have moved to my fully paid house. I moved here for a laid-back lifestyle. I was tired of working my A off in Toronto. I was just working and paying bills and mortgage. Thank you, Tiff Maclem. I would've never moved to Edmonton if you didn't increase interest rate. Drivers are much better here in Edmonton.

I've lived in the greater Edmonton area my whole life and I tend to stay out of the city as of late just because the violence and random crime that's been happening. There are lots of pros (COL being the big one) but violence in the city is kind or a non-starter. I'd love to live somewhere a bit warmer with a bit more of a social scene, if I could afford it.

I can tell you've never lived in Ontario if you think the summers are hot here! I spent half my life in Ontario, and the other half in Edmonton, and I wouldn't trade Edmonton weather for southern Ontario weather. It's very rare for it to get to +30. There might be a handful of days in a summer when it goes above +25. The humidex is never close to southern Ontario. And the winters here are a lot better than they were even 10 years ago. I couldn't imagine living again in the hot muggy summers in southern Ontario.

Theres homeless drug addicts in a bunch of areas you didnt mention. Its a total dump. Bars on the windows, crack heads, very frightening to be in and around these areas. Mostly in the downtown area like 95th street mccauley, boyle street. Even alberta avenue area is bad. If you dont believe me go walk around after 8 or 9 at night a few times and see for yourself

HUGE OVERSIGHT - For people considering moving to SP, it's worth mentioning is that Sherwood Park runs white, politically conservative, and pretty NIMBY. If you are LGBTQA+ or liberal/progressive, or just generally unconventional you might find The Park pretty lonely and unwelcoming. I hope, as a realtor, you've giving your clients a heads-up on this…

I'd like to see a video on strategies that people with good income (~$80,000/yr), but less than $10,000 in savings due to paying down student loan debt can buy into single family homes in good or upcoming neighbourhoods. Are people just pooling extended family resources to buy a houses, or do I simply have an outdated concept of a "good income"?

The crime is absolutely horrible in Edmonton. If you have bikes locked up outside your home they will be stolen. I've had three bikes get stolen in the past 2 years and they were locked up. Garages get broken into and robbed. And the people that do the crime get a slap on the wrist and then we let them out to do it again. Whatever you do don't move anywhere near downtown Edmonton. And don't leave any valuables in your vehicle otherwise you have a broken window. Downtown Edmonton is dirty and disgusting. We literally let people do drugs out in the open. You can often see people shooting up on the trains.💉 The drug epidemic is killing our city.

There’s an army of homeless people here living in homeless encampments. There are many people living in third world conditions. The homeless shelters are very dangerous. People get kicked in the head and stabbed with dirty needles there. They are infested with bedbugs, lice, scabies, and body lice. That’s why they live in the homeless encampments. One of my friends got stabbed to death in the ice district. The Herb Jamison Centre is very dangerous, people get beaten to death there, and violently attacked by junkies.
