China Girl - David Bowie VS Iggy Pop - both versions Bass Cover

Both versions of the China Girl bass covers ↓↓↓. These are two completely different versions of the same song China Girl, written together by Iggy Pop and David Bowie in 1976. Each of them recoded his own version. Iggy's was released first in 1977 while David released his in 1983. I favored Bowie's version for years and during my youth played it with a lot of cover bands. Recently, the older I ...

Is it worth upgrading from Am Pro II to Custom Shop? You will find my personal opinion about these two basses in the text below ⬇️. My personal observations - purely subjective...here it is SOUND First of all, I did not expect the sound to be this similar at all. Considering all the differences in these two bass guitars, I thought that the sound would be quite different, but in my opinion these...

This musical theme was created as an inspiration while playing my Sandberg Californis TM4 bass. This bass was specially ordered from Sandberg in 2018 as a custom order California TM4 II Hardcore Reserved, with a Darkglass Tone Capsule preamp, reversed headstock and neck binding, and has been my faithful companion ever since, giving me a lot of joy and inspiration. Queens Of The Stone Age - I Sat By The Ocean - REAL Bass Cover + Isolated Bass

I saw some Bass covers of this song, and most of them are played almost correctly, but none of them are played as the original. Original is played with a pick in a ''guitar style'', and all the song parts are played on a higher fretboard positions. I called this video a "REAL" Bass Cover because I tried to play it like it was recorded on the album and like it is played live by the Michael Shuma...

Music Man StingRay 1989 - 2 band VS 3 band EQ
I’ve had mine on order for months… and it’s due in next week!!!!
Which one?
I'm liking the B-Art Alnicos on this one (finger style).
Jazz!!!!
three very different kind of slap sounds! I love all three, in fact I have all these three basses, but the AM Pro II sounds a bit different because it has rosewood fingerboard (it was a limited edition) And Obrad is one of the best bass player on youtube, I like that he never makes overplaying
Very nice comparison ! I like the three on this video.
(JMO) In THIS particular "demo", the Jazz Bass sounds best; I believe it's the mids that make it stand out, but they all sound Fantastic; Hell, they're ALL Fenders. Thanks Leo. 👍🏿👊🏿
Always Jazz Bass. 😉❤️
I'll forever be a Jazz Bass guy, but the Precision sounds the best in this demo; Hey, It is what it is.👊🏿
usually I love bass stuff for guitar, especially bass amps, but I think the guitar wah is better for guitar than the bass version. Sure it has less lower frequencies, but it has a more distinct wah sound.
Interesting, I was expecting to think 1. Stingray 2. Jazz 3. PB, but actually, i liked them in reverse. The PB was, for me, a comfortable winner. So I'll take the Rick thanks, but then i am a bit contrary.
Set the response control at 9:00 or below. That is the only setting you need for bass.
foken jazz rulez them all Great bass player and the description under video? Legendary :D
Thanks 👍. Check my other videos if You like 🙂
Very distinct! How do I live only owning one???
All great bass's...they may not be at all sheilded, noisy & wired worse than a plug but i still luv my Fenders, i have a Fretking modded Esprite & few Ibanezs as well...but to me my Fender Jaguar PJ, 75th Anniversarry Jazz, & American Special modded Jazz ,are my favourites after overhauling everything, added full sheilding, new wiring, pots, caps , True Tone jack sockets etc ,far better parts, all my Fenders have a Greasebucket tone control made of hifi grade caps & resister, much better clearer tone...my Jaguar PJ has an ebony fretboard, very nice sharp clear tone with plenty bottom end...i like all your bass's...the reversed headstock Sandberg i would imagine would have make string tension more even, Musicmans are so such nicer now there not round fat shaped anymore like the older Stingrays in the '80's till they made the body more streamlined, More Sterling shaped, 13" width max across the body when the bass is standing up...nice looking as well as great sounding now We used to call '80's Stingrays "Fatboys", great basses with very big round shaped bodies, if you were under 6ft it looked strange..lol...neat demoing of the differences of each bass....
I listen to your vids because they just sound so good, many thanks for the work. I already know pretty much everything your demonstrating but it's just great to hear a really good player playing really good basslines to decent backing tracks and nice amps. I drive a '75 P, '79 SR, and from watching this video maybe I have to check out Sandbergs! PF-50T too. Also an Alembic Mark King 5, '10 CS J, '14 SR5HS, '81 T-40, some Ric, and an SRF705. I live in an apartment and frankly play via my GT-1000 a lot. If I had a house I'd have a '66 B-15, a big Ampeg head on an 810, and something modern (WT800?) on a Glockenklang 410+115...
Thanks for nice words, I appreciate it. Seems like You have some nice gear to. Try to enjoy it as much as You can 👍.
The Seymour Duncan’s have a darker tone than all of them but the two that were balanced were the Fender 62 and the Bill Lawrence P46. The stock squire pick up actually very good and balanced as well
I agree
How much The Pbass?
Please send me an email. You have mine in channel details. Thanks
First, your playing is sublime. Would you mind sharing the backing track? I feel like I could learn a lot from your lines on this one. Second, I'm a huge Music Man fan but Precision takes this round. 3 of Leo's greatest inventions for sure!
Thank You so much 👍. I can send You backing track I recorded, just send me some contact. It is btw Street Life by Crusaders.
Pbass all day!👍
thx
Jazz Bass!!!…perfeito!!!!
Custom 62. Sin lugar a dudas
I've had all 3 in my life and the p bass is just a very special bass. The jazz and music man are good, but the p bass is great.
MM
Was sagt der Test aus? Ein Sadowsky metro line wird aktiv gespielt. Kein Bassist würde sich einen Sadowsky Bass wegen des passiven Tones kaufen. Die kurze Sequenz am Schluss ist sinnlos.
The Jazz Bass always wins. Thanks Mr Obrad for prooving it again.
O Gallien casa muito bem com Rock o Ampeg casa muito bem com groove
O som do ampeg inconfundível anazalado e do gallien estridente meio com Driver
For me, and for this demo, it’s the P. Thanks for putting this together.
Sandberg is my Favorit, fat, without noises, the greatest bandwith, the best push. Stingray is a little to bright
my Sire V5 with Sadowsky pickups sounds better than both here :)
StingRay, P, J, in that order
I'll take one of each, please!
Jazz bass,. Nice sounds
Fender 12 pouds 👎🏼 Sandberg 6 pounds💪🏼🔥
All three for life 😂😂😂
Pick is P territory, no doubt. Jazz and Music Man are no shame, but they don't shine as much as a Precision here. Also, you chose a rythmn that does call for a Precision.
I feel like this wasn't a fair comparison because the P and the J both have maple fingerboards, which tend to provide a snappier tone. I actually have that exact same J bass, and it is a wonderful instrument. But the rosewood fingerboard of the stingray gives it a slightly warmer, fatter tone in my opinion. Anyway, great playing and showcasing of three fine instruments, nonetheless!
It was not a comparison, but rather a presentation of three different legendary instruments. Thanks for watching 👍
@@ObraBass You can say that, but the title of this video states "Fender Jazz Bass vs Precision vs Music Man StingRay - Part II - Pick". Linguistically, that implies that this is a comparison. I am in no way shooting down your video, I even liked it and subscribed. Just disagree with you, that is all.
@@markholmes5589 Thanks, no problem at all 🙂. Btw, fingerboard on MM is ebony.
Just goes to show you that tone wood, and fingerboard wood especially, is psychoacoustic nonsense. The fingerboard on this particular Stingray is in fact ebony, even though your "ears" told you it was rosewood.
great video I like it
You make all Music Mans sound like anyone else. Every time you pick up a music man is just mind blowing
for this particular track it has to be the P bass
great comparison, and I'm a Jamiroquai fan for decades but I hate this song, sorry 😀
Thanks, and sorry to hear that. Hope You'll found other interesting videos on my channel.
Something to remember is that tube amps really need to be medium-loud to sound their best. I run my PF-50T into a Marshall Power Brake so I can turn it up to 5-7 and still keep the volume bearable. Or, you can disconnect the speaker (only on the PF-50, I don't know ANY other tube amp that can run without a speaker yet not destroy itself), and use the aux out into something with a good cab sim (e.g., DAW, or a GT-1000, etc.). ANYWAY, you can keep all the tone controls in the middle, and just use one bass, and get a huge range of sounds just by adjusting the gain. Don't forget that, guys!
Svaka čast na ovako objektivnoj komparaciji 😊
Hvala 👍
three great sounding basses. 👌
The differences are minimal. I like the sound of new bass better. It has wider frequency range and clearer treble with an extended low end.
What si the song at 9:50 thanks
Lenny Kravitz - It Ain’t Over ’til It’s Over
In mix SD, solo Fender
The Fender pickups sound much better to me. More articulation and girth in every example. Squier pickups sound great but definite difference there.
Jazz bass🎉
