"I don't think our generation is cruel to that point" It is, but in a different way. Back then, cruelty was more direct and open. Cruelty meant mass graves and cattle cars. Now, the cruelty is veiled by the thin layer of compassion. People are still doing horrendous things to others... They just dress it up, pretending like they are helping people. Also, nowadays, cruelty is expressed through inaction and political manipulation, rather than direct violence. Back then, you shot someone. Nowadays, you take away his ability to sustain himself, all while pretending you are doing this for the sake of society at large. The result is exactly the same, it's just that now optics are more important, so the cruelty isn't immediately obvious.

Guys, 1. The biggest old market square in Poland and Europe is not in Krakow but in Wroclaw. 2. Your type of beaty suggest that you can have Slavic roots. Maybe Polish, maybe Slovakian, Czech, Ukrainian, Lithuanian, Yugoslavian, Bulgarian or even Russian...😉 If this is true - be proud because Slavic girls are most beautiful girls in the World (believe me - this is not only my opinion...🙂). 3. Very good and interesting material... Take care Greetings from UK

Hello! Dywizjon 303 to tylko fragment. Polacy mieli też Dywizjony 302, 306, 307, 308, 309, 315, 316, 317, 318, 663 i Dywizjony bombowe - 300, 301, 304, 305. Warsaw was destroyed completely during WW2 by Germany on Hitler's direct order after Warsaw's Uprising that took in August 1944. But raised up like Phoenix from ashes thanks to drawings that survived the war, was rebuilt like was before the WW2. Today, Warsaw is the raising star of Poland and EU, Varso tower is the tallest building in European Union.

My grandad was a man called Adam Rymarz. He was a fighter pilot in the PaF, when Warsaw fell, he was smuggled to here (the UK) and flew Lancaster and Halifax bombers. He met my nan in Scotland who was a polish refugee and she persuaded him not to go back to Poland as he;d have been shot . They had three sons and went to Singapore as Grandad was asked to look after the Lightenings. I'm sad my Grandad never went back but, wouldn't be typing this had he. So very proud of my Polish Grandad and Nan, so kind and loving to all.despite their families being murdered during the war. I love Polska. x

Śmigus-dyngus water pouring on Easter Monday is a remnant of pre-Christian Slavic culture in Poland. Slavs considered water and all other elements as holy. Water was supposed to bring good luck and health. Kupała Night (later called St. John’s night) was and still is a Slavic festival of love. It’s also a celebration of Summer Solstice. Again - paganism. Mushrooms - it takes years to get to know them all and people still make mistakes and mushrooms fatal poisonings are still the case from time to time, albeit rare. It’s a part of Polish tradition but it takes an effort for sure. Don’t do it without a guide!

So what? Do you believe wars are paid for by charity and cost nothing? Do you stupidly expect OTHER PEOPLE (i.e the UK taxpayer) to pay for the Polish part of the war effort to topple the murderous nazi regime and remove its evil from POLISH SOIL? When YOU go out for a night out, do you expect your friends to pay for your food and drinks? Seeing as you like "fun facts" here are a few more for you to enjoy.... Polish "honour" meant that when it was graciously allowed to set up its exiled government in London in June 1940 it signed various agreements with the British government, one of which was to pay for all the goods and services it received from Britain, the exiled Polish government preferring to be an "independent national force" rather than a ragged bunch of itinerant mercenaries. For its own part, Britain had by 1942 handed ALL 1,400 TONS of its OWN pre-war gold reserve over to the US government to pay for the arms and equipment it was using to continue the fight against the conquerors of YOUR country. Once all that gold had been spent, we then handed over ALL of our own cutting edge British scientific research to the US as well as global basing rights on empire territory to the US armed forces, and then when all that had been accounted for, we ran the British part of the war effort and indeed our whole UK economy on US Loans. Not "GIFTS"... but "LOANS" that needed repaying. We only finished repaying the tens of BILLIONS of pounds worth of debt to the US in 2006. As a result of this unforeseen ruinous expenditure we could no longer afford to maintain our own empire, which hastened the collapse of both the British Empire & the entire UK economy after WW2. By the end of WW2 Great Britain had been transformed from the world's richest nation in 1900 to the world's largest debtor in 1945. What you also will have utterly no awareness of is that the majority of Polish war debt was written off by the UK as it was clear that there was no way that the postwar Polish communist regime were ever going to pay the rest of it back. And then clueless commenters like yourself complain about having to pay a pittance for YOUR part in freeing YOUR country from nazi death camps & tyranny. You should have let us know in 1939 that you were going to beat the nazis alone, then we could have left you to it, and saved ourselves all our OWN gold reserve, 460,000 British lives and our empire. Now please go and burn the communist schoolbooks your country was forced to "learn" from between 1945 and 1990.

A few side notes on 8 Oct when the Poles and Czech were turned loose on the Germans. Brittan supplies had been backed filled by America's high octane aviation fuel and ample ammunition (303} all free of charge. These supplies came at the very high cost of British and American sailors blood. The German fighters Me 109 could only fly for 20 minutes over England , thus the German Bombers were open game for the British Hurricanes and Spits. A Fighter Pilot is aggressive by nature and there are no meek Fighter Pilots. The German pilots were excellent and battle harden and worked in highly organized formations. British pilots who flew Spits with two cannons and four 303 were top cover and organized to intercept Me 109 and Kill German's fighter pilots. The British Navy is what stopped Hitler and the 33 miles of open sea water . October 1940 was just the start of the war , a world war that would go on to kill 20 million people. The British by 8 October 1940 also finally replenished the inventory of fighter lost during the first months of the war and now has more fighters than at the start of hostilities. There were now enough fighter aircraft to outfit the Polish and Czech squadrons . And thanks to America there was more than enough High Octane fuel to go and kill the enemy. The Germans did not have any high octane aviation fuel which was a big disadvantage for their fliers.

Nice post, but I feel I must ask where did you get the "all free of charge" nonsense from? The US EMPTIED the vaults of the Bank of England. Also due to the US "Cash & Carry" policy passed by the US govt in Sept 1939, US sailors & shipping were NOT allowed to transport military supplies or fuel to combattant nations, until it was superceded by "Lend Lease" in March 1941. With regard to US hi-octane fuel, If the US had REALLY wanted to "help Britain" in its "hour of need", then instead of bleeding the British empire dry and causing its collapse, they could have for example sold a production license for Tetra Ethyl Lead (or TEL - The compound required for the production of hi-octane fuels) to Britain when we applied to purchase one from the "Standard Oil of Jersey City Company" prewar.... Instead they & the US Govt refused to sell one to "their British cousins"... So much for the nonsense idea of a "special relationship" between the UK & US. Standard Oil and the US Govt had NO qualms though about providing the exact same licence to the nazis when they applied to purchase one prewar. But when it came to Britain the US preferred to strip the British of ALL their gold, cutting edge technology and military bases around the world during the British "hour of need" in return for a supply of amongst other things, US produced hi-octane fuel. The reason they refused Britain a TEL license was that the British empire had a PLENTIFUL supply of oil from its colonies in British Guyana and Persia, whereas Germany did not. Why would the US sell a geopolitical advantage to one of their largest competitors to produce their own Hi-Octane fuel when they could instead milk the British Empire out of all its wealth? Where there nazi sympathies in the Standard Oil boardroom and in some parts of the US Govt? The truth is so unsavoury were the business practices of the US "Standard Oil" company (such as seeking furtive routes and brokering shady deals to supply nazi Germany with fuel and oil via neutral nations during the war) that it's activities were investigated and closely monitored by the US Govt... but only AFTER the they had been DRAGGED into WW2 in Dec 1941 by the German declaration of war on the US!!! None of this is to say that ordinary Brits do not appreciate ordinary Americans, but the idea that the US govt & business community acted with anything other than avarice and self protectionism is laughable.
