I think that now most Poles are also afraid of a potential conflict with Russia, which is why we do not start families. Unfortunately, bad times have come. This economic growth over the last 30 years is due to a creative and hardworking nation, not politicians. Let's try to imagine where Poland would be today if not this all wars. @Beyond Borders : The video you were reacting to is full if factual errors. Starting from the topography. Taking look at geographcal map you will see that both southern borders - with Slovakia _and_ with Czechia - are in mountain area. Main river of Poland - Wisła (or Vistula in medieval Latin) is _only_ in Poland, not even an inch is outside. And so on… More reliable info you could get from wikipedia and maps.
vVistula and border with Ucraina and Belarus .Isn't this information that can come true? Ukraine claims Lublin, Zamość, Chełm as ethnically Ukrainian .😮
@@piotr5338 This video is NOT about what Ukrainian chauvinists (who sadistically murdered even members of their own families) claim. The video is also NOT about what Polish chauvinists (who think that there is no such ethnicity as Ukrainian) claim. It is supposed to show current reality. And in this regard rhe video is full of errors. The Vistual river is ONLY in Poland. Period. Have you ever take a look at the map?

You've been talking about Poland for a while lately, since the holidays are approaching, maybe you'll see the most touching Polish Christmas ad, to which many UA-camrs have already reacted. "English for beginners - allegro". Greetings from a Pole living in Hamburg.
A small correction, Queen Jadwiga of Poland was a king and Jagiełło was a Lithuanian prince, he became the king of Poland after marrying the queen of Poland. Lithuania had only 1 king in its history, 1251-1263; the only king was Mindaugas😗
Yes, as a "queen" was a title of the wife of king (the one in power), and Jadwiga was not only the wife, but a person in power Edit: might be the question of a linguistic difference

Almost all people under 50 in Poland speak English on the communicative level. About 1/4 of them know the language fluently. Also among older ones there are many people familiar with English, this applies primarily to those high-educated.
I am under impresionon Where can I find such information? In 1988 there were 10 of us. We were all students. Doctors, architects, lawyers, microbiologists, businessmens These people are doing this now. We were in our third or fourth year of studying then. Only one person was speaking english not fluent at this time I suppose any way English Nowadays in small towns no one speaks English. You are optimist and you compare with you or dudes from big towns , well educationed .
It’s interesting that no one video was saying about religion - catholic religion in Poland. Poland disappeared from the map for 123 years and rise again in 1918 because of the religion. The catholic religion was what was keeping people alive. In communist time the churches were the only places of freedom. Solidarność took it’s strength from the catholic religion and Polish pope John Paul the second and his teaching. We are free now because of the faith we had and some people have now what is sad.
you definitely should check out sudety. the mountains here are not as high as rysy but it's really beautiful there. karpacz, szklarska poręba, czarna góra resort where you could come skiing! i think it's cheaper than in zakopane for example since zakopane is the most popular mountain city
The health service in Poland is not bad. It is practically one hundred percent free. Poles think that somewhere is perfect, but there is nothing perfect anywhere.Tertiary, secondary and primary schools are free. p.s. I recommend visiting Gdańsk, Warsaw, Marlbork, Kraków, Wrocław, Zakopane, Katowice, Wrocław. And of course the Polandrock Festival.

English proficiency is pretty high in Poland, but the most important is the fact that many, if not most, young people speak not only English but two, three, or even more foreign languages. The eagle is the Polish emblem but not on the flag. Only the Polish naval ensign has an eagle on a white and red background.
When it comes to the weather, in the past there were 4 seasons clearly visible: spring - thaws after winter, summer - not too hot, autumn - leaves fall from trees, rains and it gets colder, and a frosty winter. This is no longer the case, summer for Poles is hot, ranging from 27°C to 33°C. Demography is worse since 1945. and is related to the cost of living: apartments, nurseries and kindergartens are very expensive for Poles. This is how the Allies betrayed us, and while Western countries received war reparations and US aid, Poland received nothing and started practically from scratch because two fronts passed through Poland, once the Germans and the second time the Russians, robbing and destroying everything. The Russians literally looted everything from dismantling factories to power cables, chairs and cultural monuments. They were like locusts. When it comes to health care, treatment is free, which means visits to the doctor, surgeries and emergency services. If you are insured and anyone who works is automatically insured. Of course, the private sector is moderately expensive.
I think they had some scipt where there was something about river Bug, and that river is shared with those countries. But they cut of some text and end up with having that nonsense.

Referring to your questions, the state schools are basically free and most people attend these schools, though there are of course also private schools and universities where tuition has to be payed. As for the health system, it is similar to education, that is it has a state branch and a private branch. The first one is used by the vast majority of the population and it is very unsatisfactory (often you have to wait for months in a queue for some kind of a medical procedure). Greetings :)

@6:21 Vistula is not shared with any country, it flows only through Poland. It's tributaries like Narew or San are shared with Ukraine and Belarus, though. @9:33 Another mistake - about 60% of Poles live in cities and the largest urban center is in Upper Silesia with about 3 million people living in Katowice urban area (about 20 cities most sharing borders with at least one of the others). Some sources give 3,5 million some 2 million - it depends on the definition. It's not even mentioned in this video. Warsaw has about 1,85 million population, Tricity (Gdańsk, Sopt, Gdynia) less than 800 thousand ... @10:56 Nope, it's the birth rate alone. @14:00 GDP percentage spent on the army is actually 3% (2022 data) - less than a half of that spend on health care. It's more the problem with mindset of older segments of population. Large percentage does not undergo yearly health checks, because they simply do not want to. Excuses range from "I'm too busy with work", "But I feel fine", "The health care system is inefficient". A lot of programs exist now to convince people of the importance of complex health checks ans prevention / early detection of health problems. The tests can be made in one day, and waiting time is not that long, at least in cities. @17:51 English proficiency about 63,5% - 11th in the world, 9th in EU. Plus a lot of people also know a second foreign language, some 3-4 foreign languages. @23:30 Average pay in Poland is about 1250 Euro, which is lower than most west European countries (except maybe Portugal), but higher than most central and eastern European countries. Denmark or Swiss have average pay three times as high. So a lot of young people think that if they emigrate, they will have a better life. About 25-30 % actually makes it abroad, by which I mean they get a good job and settle with their own house/flat. While I get that everyone wants a good life, most young people think it is their due. I had about 10 young people in my IT department in last few years (practices and temp jobs). Offered a steady job to just one. @26:00 The King of Poland Jadwiga of Anjou dynasty married the Grand Duke of Lithuania Jogaila in 1386. The Polish law had no concept of power for the Queen - she was just a spouse of the King (although in reality queens did wield considerable political power). Jadwiga had strong ties to first Polish dynasty - the Piasts, as both her father and mother were children of Piast princesses. So by blood lines she was half-Piast ;) The marriage created a personal union between Kingdom of Poland and Grand Duchy of Lithuania. More permanent unions were tried out but due to opposition of Lithuanian magnates (aristocracy) it took 180 years to make a permanent Union of Lublin. Unfortunately the state was very fragile in regards to central power and especially financial power of kings. Inability to finance long term wars with Sweden and above all Muscovite state (later Russia) caused the downfall. @27:22 Actually the betrayal happened in Tehran in 1943, where Churchill agreed to Stalin's demands pressured to do this by Roosevelt, who BTW "officially could not take a stand due to coming election and reaction of Polish minority in USA". The fact that Poland and Russia had a Sikorsky-Majski Pact in place, or their own Atlantic Charter did not hinder both western politicians. So the clauses were kept secret and our allies: the UK, which entered the war to protect Poland's independence and USA which proclaimed itself a "champion of democracy" did keep from Polish Government in Exile the terms of the agreement. Which made it impossible to reach ANY agreement with Stalin, who already declared Poles in London and fighting in Home Army to be "working with the Nazi Germany" in response to Katyń Massacre news.

So surprising to hear people saying such a nice things about Poland. Being born and raised here I saw this country going through some seriously rough times during the 90s and 2000s. Polish health care is at a better level than in the US. One can get treatment without probelm. In big cities and some provinces it can be worse. I personally received good care from a surgeon in a small town. The @AtlasSurvivalShelters channel can confirm opinions about Polish hospitals.

If you go to Krakow I really reccomend going to the restaurant called Babcia malina (KUCHNIA STAROPOLSKA U BABCI MALINY) it translates to granny raspberry, the entrance leads to a basement like underground lit up room that has a bar where they dry smoked sausages and you can get there one of the best meat filled pierogi I have ever eaten, also the last time I been there there was a big aquarium in the centre.
Hmm, there are around 60 million Polish people around the world, with some sources suggesting about 75 million. For example, I have family near Johannesburg. My nephew works in a bank, my uncle works in a gold mine, and the rest are busy with wine plantations or other activities. We also have family near Sydney who are miners as well (we are from South Poland - Upper Silesia, and I'm - just call me the 'Stupid ICT'). Some of our relatives are in England, and I currently live in the Netherlands, but we all still identify strongly as Polish. We proudly claim the title of the best miners in the world, big migration in the '80s.
About the size of Poland... yes it is like a medium sized US State, but it is slightly larger than Italy, way larger than UK, and not much smaller than Norway, Finland or Germany. So European standards are different, since it's much more cluttered continent.
Poland 🇵🇱 has progressed tremendously in every aspect in recent years. It's because of hard work of the Polish people and three universal values dear to majority of Poles: GOD, HONOUR AND MOTHERLAND. The Polish Nation is generally very patriotic and values their freedom.

According to the government sources there are more Poles returning than leaving Poland. The strenght of pln is one of the factors that working abroad is not as atractive as it used to be. As for health services read about British ones.
As a Pole If you asking me what is more important military or medical care I am pretty sure that in present condition military has bigger chance to save my life than medical care system in the incoming future.
In regards to alcohol consumption - research varies, but the general consensus is large amount are massive health risk, leading to addictions similar to tobacco About the school system - we have both free & paid schools. Generally the paid ones offer a bit better education (smaller classes, better materials), although both kinds need to meet a regulatory minimum standards. Universities are also free of charge for almost all of the courses ( similar to rest of education system - private Uni exists). We owe the tech development to that availability & affordability. As a side note, the transition from centralized economy to free market one is a bit of iffy topic in Poland, as the reforms were harsh on large part of the population, with many going into unemployment for years to come (Generally the voices are split on the topic, with some saying it was to rough of a path, others saying it was a success). Though this has stabilized after we join the EU, partially due to large amount of immigration that quickly followed after accession (most commonly ti UK & Ireland, with Germany also being popular choice) & partially due to massive influx of investment from abroad (Tech companies, new factories, or other investments made a big dent in uneployment rates). Fun fact in the 90s unemployment was in double digits (above 20%).

The most traditional is Bigos and sauer kraut in general. very old one is boiled patatoes decorated with fried onion with stale sour milk or kefir (in PL they are not the same) on separate plate. that is very simple traditional village food. Soup called barszcz ukrainski (no one knows why ukrainski since it has nothing to do with ukraine) it is a soup made of sour beetroot juice and fresh beetroot plus few other things but the true one you will not find in restaurants, only at home. Of course Polish dumplings, dumplings came to PL in 10th century from China and were modified since then. They are very different between chinese and polish. The most traditional taste is "ruskie" what means russian's but recently renamed "ukrainskie" to honor their fight. Schabowy, it is a pork pannered with grinded bread and fried. Chrzan, that is interesting it is not a dish but like spice, it is horseradish root which has almost identical taste like wasabi but differnt consistency. Barszcz biały, white borsch this is a soup which is ....hmmmm difficult to describe, come and taste, especially in Zakopane :). The full set of food called "kasze" (groats). In example kasza gryczana, buckwheet groat usually with meat or vegs. In general Polish dinner is 3 dishes, almost mandatory, first must be a soup, second is a main dish and desert sometimes replaced with snacks. Each dish is a separte history in Polish cusine. I had "Polish cusine" book which had something like 2000 differnt dishes :) quite a lot.
You’re right about countries being let down by allies at war but not to that level of extent and specially when in the meantime We were there for our allies when they needed our help and not even allies but just nations that needed it - Haiti revolution - Polish soldiers were there to help fight them but when they realized what was going on they turned on Bonaparte and helped the rebellion making them one of the first nations that fought against slavery (ps. If Bonaparte would’ve won He would most likely move along and make America French colony, imagine that impact of a history twist for todays times); Polish division 303 basically saved Britains asses in flight zone (air battle); and imagine what would’ve become of Europe and the world in general if we didn’t stop the Red army in Warsaw uprising and didn’t let Russia past by us to occupy the rest of Europe. At the beginning we were the “Roman Empire” before the Roman Empire, we were the feared Winged Hussars, we had Monarchy, also the second in the world (first in Europe country to have a constitution if we would skip on the timeline)- that’s our current heritage. Going back to the beginning and across the whole history to current days -we got screwed over and backstabbed again and again, by OUR allies either conspiring with our enemies (who were our neighbors at the same time ) or just turning around and not responding when we most needed it, to a point of being totally erased from the maps more than a few times. We stopped expecting helping hands, acknowledgment or just simple thanks a long time ago but nonetheless we keep on doing what we do and step up when needed or called upon- that’s what defines us not the deeds of our “allies”. We own our past, not by holding a grudge but by learning from it 😉✌️✌️
when I lived in Poland I thought our medical care is bad but when I moved to UK I realised how good it is compared to UK. All Polish people I know in here is travelling to Poland to get medical services. From blood test, dentist to medical specialists.
I am from Warsaw.Poland had 38 million people before World War II, but lost 6 million citizens because of the war, not to mention all the previous conflicts and uprisings. That's why we have fewer people in Poland than, for example, France.
Hej!) It sounds terribly incorrect: how can a river that is running through the middle of the country, can be shared with other countries? You can see it on the map they are actually showing in this video.
Most of the Poles would recommend you Zakopane and Tatra mountains, as a must see area in Poland, and it's hard to not agree with them, but I - personally - would like to direct your attention a lil bit to the western side of our southern border - to Sudety mountains! My favourite! Towns like Szklarska Poręba and Karpacz are just stunning - in my opinion more than Zakopane (sorry Zakopane! :D ). So, if you will ever visit Poland, don't forget about this region - you def. won't be disappointed! :) Greetings from Warsaw! :) P.S.: Education in Poland is free of charge. P.S.II: Actually there are not any eagles or another birds on the Polish flag. Polish flag is just two hirizontal stripes - white and red. When you see Polish "flag" with an eagle on it, it means you see "bandera" - a version of the flag used ONLY on the ships and by diplomatic corpus. P.S.III: Poland joined NATO in 1999 and EU in 2004, not 2010. :) P.S.IV: Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia also developed wery well since the 1989! These 3 countries are going pretty well, just like Poland (well, at least Comparable, or some of them even a lil bit better).
We dont have now wiinter xD 27/02/2024 hour 22:42 and its 11 celscius ;P so its got like on winter xD Bielsko-Biała you should visit. its calling little Vienna !!!
I'm sorry to say but the video you're watching is a little bit wrong. Wisła or Vistula River is absolutely not shared with any other neighbouring country. Its source is based in the small town also called Wisła in Beskid Śląski mountain area and it falls into the Baltic Sea (Zatoka Gdańska to be exact). It never at any point crosses any Polish border. Just for clarification 😊 Also it kinda saddens me hearing the words "You wouldn't say it's Poland that's how beautiful it is". It seems you still go by the stereotype spread all over the world saying Poland is ugly, dull and not interesting at all. And I bet you've seen enough to know it isn't true at all.
It is interesting to note that in order for Poland to disappear from the map for 123 years, the 3 major superpowers of those years had to join forces. Individually, they would not have been able to conquer Poland. Even in an alliance of two.... Curiosity.
You should also bear in mind that just after we reclaim our country and regain our independence we only had 20 years of peace when Poland was just beginning to thrive and then boom!!! WWII which left my country devastated, robbed of priceless pieces of art like "The portrait of a young man" by Raphael Santi and hundreds of other pieces, treasures of culture, a huge chunk of land in the east. Warsaw was in ruins after the Uprising in 1944, it was a pile of debris literally. And most of all - we've lost a whole generation of young patriots for whom Poland was worth more than life itself and they gave their lives for our Motherland. This loss was unimaginable and changed the shape of my country forever. If we had all those people the outcome would be completely different. They would rebuild our country and they would start so many generations of patriots. But it didn't happen unfortunately. As it wasn't enough - the world superpowers including USA, Great Britain, and Soviet Union while dividing Europe amongst them, decided we will go under the Soviet reign which backed us down even more. So the fact Poland is now thriving after all of this speaks volumes about our resilience, our strength and our spirit. Jeszcze Polska nie zginęła 🇵🇱
Not many people realize that after gaining independence, interwar Poland 1918-1939 very quickly become an eleventh global economy. It is not something new or unusual, for Poland. In history of Poland, the seventh position was the highest ranking of global economy ever achieved by Poland. During the communist times, Poland was one of the most industrialized countries in the world.

This betrayal after World War 2 is still alive among Poles and we do not want it to happen again, we have always belonged to the Western world.
Any truth that Poland is allowing Russians in? They're as bad as Muslims! Pure evil.
About 20 million Poles live abroad. Which gives us about 58 million in total.

That's fucked up
She was a King of Poland
Yes, as a "queen" was a title of the wife of king (the one in power), and Jadwiga was not only the wife, but a person in power
Edit: might be the question of a linguistic difference

It’s interesting that no one video was saying about religion - catholic religion in Poland. Poland disappeared from the map for 123 years and rise again in 1918 because of the religion. The catholic religion was what was keeping people alive. In communist time the churches were the only places of freedom. Solidarność took it’s strength from the catholic religion and Polish pope John Paul the second and his teaching. We are free now because of the faith we had and some people have now what is sad.

I love you.Both.Amazing reaction!!!

In regards to alcohol consumption - research varies, but the general consensus is large amount are massive health risk, leading to addictions similar to tobacco
About the school system - we have both free & paid schools.

P.S.: Education in Poland is free of charge.
P.S.IV: Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia also developed wery well since the 1989! These 3 countries are going pretty well, just like Poland (well, at least Comparable, or some of them even a lil bit better).
Didn't I comment that under last video.
I'm pretty sure it was me writing it. :D
concerning Polish food, this vid is a good summary: Polish Dishes to try - What to eat in Poland - Best Polish Food

Poland series is always the most viewed, Polish complexes :P
I'm sorry to say but the video you're watching is a little bit wrong. Wisła or Vistula River is absolutely not shared with any other neighbouring country. Its source is based in the small town also called Wisła in Beskid Śląski mountain area and it falls into the Baltic Sea (Zatoka Gdańska to be exact). It never at any point crosses any Polish border. Just for clarification 😊
Also it kinda saddens me hearing the words "You wouldn't say it's Poland that's how beautiful it is". It seems you still go by the stereotype spread all over the world saying Poland is ugly, dull and not interesting at all. And I bet you've seen enough to know it isn't true at all.
Watch something about the city of Łódź in Poland.
Poland "Childs of God"
Yes. Many people run from Poland looking for better life
It is interesting to note that in order for Poland to disappear from the map for 123 years, the 3 major superpowers of those years had to join forces. Individually, they would not have been able to conquer Poland. Even in an alliance of two....
Curiosity.
Great job ❤
