As a Wroclawian myself, I recommend seeing the old town (duh) - city hall, and also Ostrów Tumski - the oldest part of town with the cathedral. During the daytime, you can go there and pay to watch the beautiful cityscape from one of the towers. Also, you just HAVE to go Ostrów Tumski after dark, it's sooooo climatic, totally my favourite place to visit, even though I have lived here since birth. When you go there at dusk, you can meet a medieval-vibed caped man, manually lighting up antique gas lanterns that give this place an amazing yellowish-greenish lighting. There are also a few very climactic restaurants there in the cellars, worth visiting.
As a Pole, thank you for being interested in the history of my country. Please react to "Untold Battle of Britan" This is the story of Polish pilots who changed the fate of the Battle of Britain during World War II.

The guy who informed what is really happening in Auschwitz, was Witold Pilecki. Mentioned in this video, he went there as a volunteer to get informations and escaped! Fought in all wars, gave his life for Poland! Szacunek Rotmistrzu Pilecki!
Pilecki fought and gave his all for Poland, up until he received a bullet in his head after being sentenced to death by the Russian backed Polish Kangaroo court.

To be precisely Warsaw was not destroy in Uprising but after it. 50% of the city was obliterated between the invasion in 1939 and the two months of the uprising in 1944 in the Luftwaffe bombardment of the city even targeting hospitals. But following the end of the rising, special German units were sent to burn (Brandkommandos) and demolish (Sprengkommandos) the remaining buildings. By the beginning of 1945, 85-90% of Warsaw had been reduced to rubble, including around 94% of the city’s historic buildings and landmarks. And the Germans had paid special attention to the destruction of Warsaw’s libraries, universities, and centers of culture.
Hi. I'm Polish. I am a patriot. I will always defend my homeland, just as our ancestors showed me who repeatedly gave their lives to defend their home. HONOR AND GLORY TO THE HEROES!!! On behalf of myself and my family, thank you for what you do. I suspect that a very small percentage of people in the world know what Poland has gone through during its existence. What a great role we have played in the history of the world. What's more... I will not hesitate to say that all of Europe should thank Poles, and mainly our ancestors, for Vienna 1683. I recommend that you take a look at this topic and you will understand what I mean. 💪 Jan 3 Sobieski and the Polish hussars saved all of Europe. Polish Hussars - angels of death...
They defeated Osmanian Empire but in this case Russia got powerfull and destroyed us 80 years later. Turkish Empire was a kind of safety mechanism against russian supremacy
Hello, as a pole I thank you from the bottom of my heart 🙏. To be perfectly honest, few min into the presentation you've brought tears. Memories of my late grandfather's. One fought Rommel troops in Africa and was part of Monte Casino battle. The other was a partisan in eastern part, captured by Russian soldiers and send to gulag in Boroszewicze. Thank you for this video. I hope this presentation of yours will help to unite Poles and bring them together. The Unconquered
WROCŁAW, speak very well ;-) I recommend a trip to Warsaw, especially on August 1, we always celebrate the outbreak of the Warszawa Uprising in 1944 on this day. I recommend the Warsaw Uprising museum in Warsaw, it is amazing.

Yes, we are an invincible nation. For hundreds of years we have been fighting for our country and independence. And although our homeland was taken from the map of the world, the enemies of our spirit were never defeated. That is why Poland is Poles, not the country within which we live. "Poland has not yet perished as long as we live!" - these are the words of our National Anthem. 💪 Greeting from Gdańsk

I to prawdopodobnie uratowało Kraków przed zniszczeniem. Zapraszam Was do Stołecznego Królewskiego miasta Krakowa.
Krakow is very high on our list because of this reason. Untouched beauty that managed to survive and make it through the most painful time in polish history
In general "Warsaw" is correctly translation but if you want polish pronaunciation its "Warszawa" which we read as "varschava" Also I really suggest to watch "The Story of Wojtek - the polish military bear", well yeah, we used to have Sgt. Wojtek in army.
this is very interesting. I watch a lot of people reaction from this video and everyone had goosebumps in that last scene. This words: “ Because We do not ….” are so strong
If I was asked for one video about Polish history - that would be the one. Although, I don't think this refers only to Poland - heroes like Irena Sendler or Witold Pilecki should be remembered regardless of nationality. And I always get emotional on Urbanowicz's quote, because it is so true - we can never let go, we should always watch for our freedom. BTW. documentary "Bloody Foreigners" about 303 squadron (including Urbanowicz) is quite good, I highly recommand it, but it's probably a bit too long for yt reactions...
" Irena Sendler or Witold Pilecki should be remembered regardless of nationality" so whan nationality oher then Polish they had in ur opinion other then Polish?
@@slidman24 due to the fact that Witold Pilecki informed the Allies about Nazi camps. All nations should remember Him. And Sendler saved many Jewish children. 10:30 this was exactly like that same after possibly saving UK in 41 from speaking german today when our pilots defended them and later poland was not only not invited to winning parade, but also they actually kicked out pilots from the country (when there was no safe spot for poles), the same way we were literally sold to russia by all countries during the yalta conference because they were worried more about their economy and being worried about prolonging the war, so they picked selling poland and peace. Im proud for 'old' Poland but this also makes me sad. Because poles were fighting all over the world, helping everyone, but we were always left alone and noone came to help us. And it is not just 1900+, Poland is full of such history. We were literally gone from maps for 123 years!
Poles fought even though it was known that the Warsaw Uprising had no chance of victory. Do you know why? We will never give up our freedom, we will give our lives for it, for the safety of our families, friends and compatriots. Poland was completely destroyed by the Germans, then by the Russians, it's amazing that we still recovered from it. Hope dies last. I am proud to be Polish. I recommend it to you if you haven't seen the movie "Białe Róże - Mała Armia Janosika (100 Rocznica Odzyskania Niepodległości) Official Video". Every time I listen to this song, tears flow from my eyes.
I love your precise and intelligent comments. ❤ My impression is that at least one of you, if not both, are of Polish descent. There were some Poles who made South Africa their home after WW II. The second wave of Poles settled in your country in 1980s .

The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, officially the Treaty of Non-Aggression between Germany and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, was a non-aggression pact between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union with a secret protocol that partitioned Central and Eastern Europe between them. The pact was signed in Moscow on 23 August 1939 by German Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop and Soviet Foreign Minister Vyacheslav Molotov. Unofficially, it has also been referred to as the Hitler-Stalin Pact.

10:20 When it comes to that we were under Russian control, but like you said not exactly like satellite state. That was sad but you know what in my opinion is more sad, that Poles were not invited for official parade of allies in UK because authorities were afraid that would offend Stalin. Please watch document about 303 division (polish pilot division that helped during Battle Of Britain and served together with RAFs pilots).
@@Glassius89 inviting comunnist Poland was like inviting people of Stalin to parade as separate country when Stalin wanted to soften Poland and anex them later on... all of those invites ppl were his puppets... Brits well knew about Polish government in exlie, hell they were hiding in London and neither them or any of the squadrons that helped during battle of Britain got their invitations... so still most historics says "they were afraid of Stalin's reaction" and would rather play his games...

You did very good work with commenting etc. Probably the best 'reacting/commenting video' of this type that i have ever seen. The world is a better place thanks to people with such hearts like yours. I don't know how to write this so that I won't be blocked. Polish children took part in the Warsaw Uprising. these children are our grandmothers and grandfathers. The Germans used them as human shields to protect their tanks. this is a fact. The uprising failed because there was no one who would shoot at children in cold blood, and this is just one example. Poland is a land of war. War is in a clearer culture, art and mentality. We know what this ruthless mistress of death called war is (Wojna read: voyna)
The history of Poland is probably one of the most hidden histories in the world. The story is beautiful but also mysterious because it fits neither the past nor today's world. Religious freedom, elected kings, the gate between the east and the west, legends and beliefs, great battles, etc. I recommend Allegro on UA-cam, Polish legends today, although I love Allegro Christmas advertising. engilsh for beginner.
If you are in Krakow, there are 2 places in the area that you cannot miss. these are the Auschwitz concentration camp and the Wieliczka salt mine, which is also something you won't see anywhere else in the world.
Why Auschwitz? Really? The last place in the world I would like to visit. Polska to nie pamiątka po niemieckich obozach koncentracyjnych. Jest wiele pięknych rzeczy do zobaczenia. Wieliczka super.

Keep in mind that this is only WWII and later, Poland has been through a lot more (Crusaders, Denmark, Sweden, Ottoman Empire, partitions, Prussia, Russia- some of them multiple times)
It's really very simple: the Polsih letter "w" is pronounced "v" just like in German. And the Polish dual sign/diphtong "sz" is pronounced (roughly, it's not the exact equivalent) "sh". So Warszawa (the Polish name for Warsaw) is pronounced...? Yes, you guessed it: "varshava". :-)

Warsaw (Warszawa - 'Varshava') was not destroyed so much during uprising, but after that. It was special Hitler's order to demolish, blow every building after building as punishment for doing uprising. In Yalta (Jałta) Franklin Delano Roosvelt gave Poland to Stalin's hands moving a match as a symbol of soviet influence border. One of most terrible decision for Poland in whole history. Even some German commanders understood size threat from the Soviets, and wanted togeder fight against Soviet Union, like Admiral Wilhelm Canaris ( one of heroes of WWII, in my opinion as a Pole patriot). But it would mean another war, war against Soviet Union, but everyone had enough of war. You were also talking about Wrocław - 'Vrocwav' or 'Vrotswav' :D One more thing :D When soldier is shooting to german tank, i gues it is not going about His bravery, but it's a symbol of "Ur wz 35", which was hand antitank riffle, yes hand antitank riffle! :D But i'm not sure it was using during uprising. Rather in the beginning of war. When Germans get plans of this riffle, first Hitler's order was to thicken armor in tanks.
Many people before me already did it, but I'd also like to recommend you to watch British film "Bloody Foreigners - Untold Battle Of Britain" (available on YT ofc). You won't be disappointed, believe me! :) The question is: Do we - your viewers - actually want a 1 hour reaction from you on that video? YES! WE DO! :D
When I watch these videos I'm mostly sad for my family, my grandparents, who weren't born in free Poland, for my parents, who got the taste of freedom when they were in their 20s. And I'm so, so grateful for the life I got to live.
Poland suffered the most. Pepole often talk abaout the occupation of the germans in france, however that is nowhere close to the carnage that happened here. Not only did they surrender, but Hitler actually viewed the french pepole as equal (same/similar race) and while i dont dissagree, the occupation was bad on both ends, HOWEVER when you look at the quality of life in both countries: france - shops open, everything functioned just like before the war, everyone was calm, you rarely see any military forces patroling the streets Poland- most shops closed or destroyed, some pepole litterally starving to death, blood and human remains littered amongst the rubble of a city that not even a year ago was thriving, its now empty and desolate. The uprising was so deadly in fact that even decades after the fighting had subsided, human remains would still flush out of the sewers (main source of transport between the surrounded streets). Civilians, resistance fighters, children who were caught in the crossfire and dumped inside. Its even worse when you look at how both stalin and the allies refused provide any significant assistance.
We may be unconquered, but we pay a high price for it. Recent research published in Scientific Reports shows that eight decades after the war, Poles are the most traumatized nation in the world. Approx. 19 percent Poles - almost every fifth of us - have symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) - new research shows. This is much higher than the world average (approx. 5-10%). This is facilitated by unprocessed, transgenerational trauma dating back to World War II. Research by psychotraumatologists suggests that such susceptibility to PTSD may be related to the trauma from World War II that has not been processed in families. The effects of war trauma can be noticed even in the grandchildren and even great-grandchildren of people who survived World War II. The psychologist explains that Poles, who were terribly affected by World War II, had very difficult conditions after the war to work through their traumas. "Poland went from plague to cholera: from German occupation during World War II we moved to Soviet occupation." People who were members of the Home Army and suffered trauma during the war had to hide their past during the Stalinist era because of the risk of repression. Not only did these citizens lack systemic support, but their traumas were also not addressed and socially recognized. And often these experiences were also kept silent within families. And the atmosphere of fear and taboo related to various types of trauma could be passed on to subsequent generations. "Traumatic experiences contribute to serious problems on many levels. Often this process is further deepened by the conspiracy of silence surrounding such trauma among the person's loved ones. As a result, the trauma survivor is forced to adopt one of the survival strategies." Patterns of coping with massive trauma among survivors of World War II influenced subsequent generations; they were a transmission belt for the transmission of transgenerational trauma. It is time to stop gloryfying War. If you want to listen some interview with descendents of WWII survivors, please check the link below. Growing up, even as a Polish/American, I never heard of the Soviet invasion of Poland alongside the Nazis. I never heard of the Katyn massacre, never heard of the Warsaw Uprising and how the Soviets waiting along the Vistula River for the Germans to end the Polish resistance for them. All I ever heard about was how Polish cavalry stupidly charged German Panzers with sabers and lances, which, turns out, was also a lie. What we know now is that Poland lasted longer against the Germans than France did, and they never surrendered. One big slap in the face to the Poles was they weren't allowed to march in Britain's Victory Parade alongside the Allied soldiers who fought with Britain, for fear of offending Stalin. Poland, the Nation that refused to die.
To be honest, Russians did not wait on the other side of Vistula River during Warsaw Urprising. They were trying to conquer Warsaw, but were constantly repelled by Russians. Even after Warsaw fell, it took Russians few more months to cross the Vistula river. Those fights were helping urprising indirectly. The fighting divisions were handling Russians, so to deal with Warsaw Germany was sending weaker supporting units. On the other hand, Russians were not aiding urprising and initially blocked western Allies from sending help through air. Also, during victory parade Britain invited Poles. The thing is, Polish Government in excile lost diplomatic recognition. It was now Communist Poland which was officialy recognized Polish state. Communist Poland were invited, but declined. British also invited Polish fighter pilots, but they did not want to participate without other Poles fighting in Wester Front.
@@Glassius89 Poland didn't become Communist until 1947. So it couldn't have been recognized as such in 1945. Obviously, the Western Allies needed to keep the USSR in the fight, and caved to the demands of Stalin because, frankly, there was little they could do. You showed evidence that you're mistaken about the Soviets inability to aid the Uprising in that they refused to allow US or British aircraft to land and refuel on Soviet held territory. They (the Soviets) also allowed some Polish units in the Red Army to cross the Vistula and fight with the Polish Home Army (the Underground). They were slaughtered as well, which, IMO, was the plan. Given that the Soviets went on a murder spree of anyone who fought with the Polish Home Army. Can't have trained men and women possibly causing problems for the future Soviet Satellite State. The Soviets had no desire to help the Poles, even after they told them they would. This is even supported by the fact that those Poles who had fought in the west, either with the RAF or British Army, were arrested, imprisoned and some executed as 'Western Spies'. Witold Pilecki, the Polish Cavalry Officer who allowed himself to be arrested and sent to Auschwitz, and alerted the world to what was going on there, was arrested after the war by the Soviets and executed. Then they tried to make it as if he never existed.
@@Dziadzia-d6e New Stalin-installed government (Tymczasowy Rząd Jedności Narodowej) was recognized on 29th June 1945 by France, on 5th July by USA and UK. This is what I call Communist Poland, even though it did not yet swap it's official name by changing the consitution. I am not mistaken. The charge of Polish troops from Berling Army is included in sentence "they were trying to conquer Warsaw". Also, Soviets did not went on the murder spree against Home Army. Those members were given a choice: join new Communist Poland military/police forces, or you will be persecuted. Murdering was still rather rare, even if few thousands were killed. Poles who fought in the West did not suffer any penalties, unless they continued to work for exiled government after installment of new communist government.
Actually, I went to check if the video, which poped out in my feed, was pre-war in Ukraine because some comments sounded like you are unaware of the scale of the cruelty, destruction and suffering in the current ruzzia's war. Yes, Poles are/were brave and 'unconquered' but so are Ukrainians rn... I know it's a video about PL but the parallels are so obvious. It's Varshava btw.
I love your content and I'm extremely thankful for what you do. I'm sure everything you say is genuine and comes from a very honest place and I have to admit that it makes me emotional at times! Thank you! 🫶🙏
These only flashes of broader and more complex history behind each scene. I encourage you to dig in and investigate, those figures with no names are presented as actual living heroes. I am happy to provide references if you are willing so. All the best!
You, guys are both Polish patriots at heart: ("Poland" Ryszard Przymus): "Poland is such a land, which begins in the heart. Then he is close in my thoughts, in the beautiful land on the Vistula River. We walk her paths, we build, we defend. Poland - Homeland... The land that begins in the heart."
I'm kind of sad how they didn't describe the contribution of heroic Polish pilots fighting in Britain, they just left it with "we fought beside allies". We really were incredible there, totally worth a sentence more or anything. Also, our capital in Polish is called Var-sha-va. You did a great job with "Wrocław" at the end of the vid though 😁
The polish contribution in the Battle of Britain was major. Without the Poles it would have ended differently and the Luftwaffe would have won. But also to mention how the Poles got treated after the war by the British is somthing to mention.
Hi, I’m glad you’re interested in the history of my homeland. What many people here feel about those times is a lasting sadness over the abandonment and betrayal at Yalta. We weren’t even allowed to participate in the Victory Parade in London in 1946, just to avoid provoking Russia. On top of that, Germany, which devastated our country, still refuses to pay war reparations for the destruction or return the massive amount of looted artworks-something that would be quite straightforward to address. And one more thing-do you think people have really changed? Look at what’s happening in Ukraine, watch the footage from the trenches and urban battles. Nothing has changed. There is no “end of history,” and it seems we’re facing it all over again.
Yes, you’re right Poland is unconquered, Poles can unite and fight together, help to each other in need, but unfortunately when the time comes to rebuild we are starting to fight between ourselves like any other nation in the world. This is sad, we need an extetnal threat to cooperate with each other, otherwise we are unable to work together for the common good.
Our Land have over 1000 years of history. Throught those years we were attacked a lot times by Germans, Russians, Mongolians and a lot of other nations. We had completely disapeared from maps of Europe for 123 years, because Our Land was under Prussian (old Germans), Russian and Austrian occupation. More times in history our Land was destroyed, disapear but always rised up from ashes like Phoenix. We are proud, brave and unconquered and always fight for freedom, ours or everybody which lost freedom. And now we bulid a powerfull army not for attack anybody but we must be ready to defence our Land. History can not repeat.

The guy who informed what is really happening in Auschwitz, was Witold Pilecki. Mentioned in this video, he went there as a volunteer to get informations and escaped! Fought in all wars, gave his life for Poland! Szacunek Rotmistrzu Pilecki!
Actually, it was Jan Karski, but he used Pilecki's reports.

Yes, we are an invincible nation. For hundreds of years we have been fighting for our country and independence. And although our homeland was taken from the map of the world, the enemies of our spirit were never defeated. That is why Poland is Poles, not the country within which we live. Stolicą Polski iest Warszawa lecz jednak sercem Polski jest Kraków. Kraków przetrwał wojnę prawie nie zniszczony. To tutaj są groby Królweskie to tutaj jest duch poprzednich pokoleń.

10:30 this was exactly like that
same after possibly saving UK in 41 from speaking german today when our pilots defended them and later poland was not only not invited to winning parade, but also they actually kicked out pilots from the country (when there was no safe spot for poles), the same way we were literally sold to russia by all countries during the yalta conference because they were worried more about their economy and being worried about prolonging the war, so they picked selling poland and peace.
Im proud for 'old' Poland but this also makes me sad. Because poles were fighting all over the world, helping everyone, but we were always left alone and noone came to help us. And it is not just 1900+, Poland is full of such history. We were literally gone from maps for 123 years!
You do also have to see the Potsdam Conferenceas as the contuniation Yalta Conference

Your pronounciation of "Wrocław" is now perfect.
Poles fought even though it was known that the Warsaw Uprising had no chance of victory. Do you know why? The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, officially the Treaty of Non-Aggression between Germany and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, was a non-aggression pact between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union with a secret protocol that partitioned Central and Eastern Europe between them. The pact was signed in Moscow on 23 August 1939 by German Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop and Soviet Foreign Minister Vyacheslav Molotov. Unofficially, it has also been referred to as the Hitler-Stalin Pact.

@@sunebealeyes, you are beautiful, that is why I think you must have a Polish blood 😉
And Warsaw is the city which certainly saw the war: war saw.

The Polish nation includes Polonized Germans, Tatars, Armenians, Gypsies, and Jews, if they live for the common ideal of Poland.
You were also talking about Wrocław - 'Vrocwav' or 'Vrotswav' :D
One more thing :D When soldier is shooting to german tank, i gues it is not going about His bravery, but it's a symbol of "Ur wz 35", which was hand antitank riffle, yes hand antitank riffle! :D But i'm not sure it was using during uprising. Rather in the beginning of war. When Germans get plans of this riffle, first Hitler's order was to thicken armor in tanks.
I recommend "Poland first to fight!" from Historia bez cenzury. It's also describes Poland and its aspects ^^

The question is: Do we - your viewers - actually want a 1 hour reaction from you on that video?
YES! WE DO!
Not only did they surrender, but Hitler actually viewed the french pepole as equal (same/similar race) and while i dont dissagree, the occupation was bad on both ends, HOWEVER when you look at the quality of life in both countries:
france - shops open, everything functioned just like before the war, everyone was calm, you rarely see any military forces patroling the streets
Poland- most shops closed or destroyed, some pepole litterally starving to death, blood and human remains littered amongst the rubble of a city that not even a year ago was thriving, its now empty and desolate.
This is the project of Warsaw Uprighsing Museum.

Hi thanks for showing polish history
Phenomenal history ❤️
Poles who fought in the West did not suffer any penalties, unless they continued to work for exiled government after installment of new communist government.
s a Pole, thank you for being interested in the history of my country.
Hellow i look Yours traveling in Poland and now i think be cnow why You decide to visit this country :) Have good day
Dziękuję za Wasze słowa
As Polish woman thank you for interesting our history ❤
Thank you from the bottom of my heart 😢
Actually, I went to check if the video, which poped out in my feed, was pre-war in Ukraine because some comments sounded like you are unaware of the scale of the cruelty, destruction and suffering in the current ruzzia's war. Yes, Poles are/were brave and 'unconquered' but so are Ukrainians rn... I know it's a video about PL but the parallels are so obvious. It's Varshava btw.
I love your content and I'm extremely thankful for what you do. I'm sure everything you say is genuine and comes from a very honest place and I have to admit that it makes me emotional at times! Thank you! 🫶🙏
If You are going to Wroclaw You should check out Zamek Książ (Castle Książ). 78 km from Wrocław. Great place!😀
Sounds amazing
Im so f proud of my country!
These only flashes of broader and more complex history behind each scene. I encourage you to dig in and investigate, those figures with no names are presented as actual living heroes. I am happy to provide references if you are willing so. All the best!
Hi!) Great to see another video from you!)
You, guys are both Polish patriots at heart: ("Poland" Ryszard Przymus):
"Poland is such a land,
which begins in the heart.
Then he is close in my thoughts,
in the beautiful land on the Vistula River.
We walk her paths,
we build, we defend.
As a pole I was many time wondering "how it is and why nobody did anything to....". Now we have Palestine, Ukraine and... Now I know.
Your blood is as hot as Polish blood. If you don't have Polish blood, your heart is still truly Polish. Much respect.
You have to visit Lublin :)
"Bo my nie błagamy o wolność, my o nią walczymy"...nic tego nie przebije ❤
Siema! ~4:15 i'm curious what this word was ;) Besides... ~10:30, jesteś WIELKA (You're GREAT!). Brawo Ty/Wy! Greetz! ;)
You are pretty brave and have Polish soul . Have luck can made this from home . But we when come time be fight again . Good luck
