I’m just a guy that loves working with his hands. A builder/remodeler by day but also I love to play with our off-road Jeeps on the side. From bending metal to setting tile its my life and I love it. I hate the term “Jack of all Trades” because that term typically means your not an expert in some trades but rather mediocre in most of your work. Some of us want to push ourselves to understand other lines of work. I will take on nearly anything if it interests me so follow along as everyday is a new adventure.
Does Makita make a good tool? You may be Surprised
After owning several Makita tools for many years I give my honest opinion of what I think of them. You may be surprised by my opinion.

We’re working the 1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ again today. Everything is painted and its time to buff those GenRight parts. A lot of the body parts have sharp edges so a different type of buffer is required than normal. Let’s get buffing.

ARB compressor MOD, Stanley Lunch Box come together

After deciding that I didn’t want the ARB attached under the hood of my Jeep TJ I needed a place to install it. Not wanting the same old usual military box I came up with what I think is pretty cool. The ARB single compressor is no power house but I already own it.

Jeep TJ Mods…Led Tail Lights also for YJ and CJ
It's time to get a trailer for all your tools and more space
We have 4 trailers but only put large tools in them now like air scrubbers brakes and such. We got tired of pulling trailers around every day.
I’d like to see a comparison against the Dewalt, Irwin, Chinesium, and the original Viking Arm
This may happen.
Preach it brother! SwayLoc is the way to go! I did mine about 2 years ago and wondered why I didn’t do it sooner.
Totally agree. My belief is this should be a TJ’s owners 1st mod. You can’t go wrong.
Have you tried the Dewalt one?
Great video as usual. I have both but I think I'll be returning the Milwaukee. If you could only have one which would it be?
They’re all winners but the DeWALT almost replaces a 18v/20v drill. It has a ton of power. The Bosch is still my favorite for the size though. If I only had one probably the DeWALT.
My friend have the dewalt 20v it doesn’t feel like it cuts that fast i bought the m12 i was blown away on how fast it cuts at max speed
Go back and watch our Dewalt 12v versus 20v. The 12v smokes the 20v. We couldn’t believe what we were seeing and have since shelved our the 20v multi tools and replaced them with 12v DeWALTs.
I put 31" tires on my tj, i didnt want a big tire but i wanted to get rpm's down on hwy
I have Makita 40 volt for 2 years and they run great w no problems. They get heavy duty use
Nice
You are a badass. Thank you for the information.
Appreciate it.
This guy is a joke
No brand is perfect but you hate to be the test subject.
Any advise how to drill from the inside of the house without cause dust chaos? We would like to drill for an exhaust fan on the second story house.
Glad I watched all the way through! Was already leaning towards the Bosch but that ladder bit is a dealbreaker for the others
Great idea. I am going to do it slightly different. I am going to place the hanging side pieces on the outside of the horizontal piece you have on the ceiling, above the dowels. Then I will screw through the joint horizontally, if you follow. That way, the weight of the ladder would have to shear the screws instead of pulling out and dropping.
Great video and you're very entertaining. Getting the 2100
Thanks

All your battery woes can be solved with the new Ceenr battery system. Take a gander my guy.
There's no reward for taking pride in your work, and rarely any punishment for shoddy work. The only people that will ever notice the difference is the next tradesperson that comes along several years later. They're not going to track you down and give you $100 for having done a good job, even though you've made their life easier by leaving access to plumbing/electrical/etc when it would have been quicker for you to just build over it. So it all comes down to the individual. Good tradies will always do good work because it's in their nature. Scumbags will take every shortcut they can, jam rubbish in any gaps that will be filled, and use whatever fastener they have on them because they're too lazy to go back and get the right one.
So you do have first hand experience with that fastener comment. Most people would know that.😀
@campbellbuilt I've seen 30 storey buildings where 1 of 3 expansion bolts holding up a glass balustrade has been siliconed into concrete because they messed the hole up. Not epoxy - silicone.
4:20 that's the way to do it. Don't be a fanboi - just run the tool that works best for you. Maybe in 5-10 years we'll see the brand's forced to provide approved adapters and/or agree to a standard battery interface. Then we'll see real competition as we'll be able to run whatever tool we want and not feel locked in by the batteries and chargers.
I have to admit I was a fan boy at one time of another brand but then I realized eventually that these tools were just money makers. The battery idea is interesting, I don’t like the idea of forcing company’s to a certain type of battery attachment system however if there was a collaboration it definitely would benefit us. Appreciate the input
Come to Europe, as of 2028 all power tools need to be using 1 battery platform....this will force us to buy new ofcourse, but after that Festool, Makita, Milwaukee, DeWalt all use the same battery #joy
@BasBommel that was an April Fool's day joke
2:40 that adapter is one of Makita's biggest mistakes in launching their 40V line. As you said, it would have been much better if the 40V charger had a 40V and 18V slot built in. There's plenty of space on the 40V charger for an 18V slot. I need to get my hands on the adapter to see if there's any expensive electronics or voltage switching stuff in it, or if it's just a dumb adapter. If it's got expensive electronics in it, then I guess I can understand the adapter from a cost saving point of view.
It looks as if Makita did this to annoy people to force them to buy into the complete 40v line, just joking probably just a bean counter. In all seriousness the 18/40v charger or lack there of is Makita’s Achilles heal right now.
I agree 💯 a lot of guys these days are lacking pride in their work.
Totally agreed
for the plywood you fade out before dude runs it bakwards, or don't include it at all, then when he starts the cut you only show him already cutting, the most challenging thing with a hole saw it seems it starting and continuing a cut, which you refused to show , so frustraing
Thanks guys 😎⚒️😎⚒️😎
Sell me your “scam hose” I could use it
Did you lose yours? 😀
Makita tools were a lot better when they were made in Japan , most of their tools are made abroad in 8 different countries and the U.S. seams to get mostly the Chinese made tools .... 🤦♂️ Im thinking that Could be one of the reasons why their Longevity has fallen off ...🤷♂️😂🤣
I’m not sure on the longevity as to the cause but I believe what your saying is definitely hurting them. I get a little sad when I get a new Makita and quickly look it over to see where it’s made (not Japan). 😕.
@@campbellbuilt Plus there 18v tool lineup is getting old , the only tools that seam to get Updated is their top tier Impact Driver and Hammer Drill , or is it we just don't get them hear for some reason 🤔 🤷♂️
i am surprised to hear you say that the Makita track saw does not cut square and to be honest I have always had the tendency to fight with that tool even if it was the 40v xgt, but man, I love it when you are very critical towards the brand. Makita is expensive, but I don't know how reliable they are.
I don’t fully understand why people aren’t honest about tool failures. Maybe they dismiss failures to justify their purchases. These are just tools for us and by that I mean they ether work or they don’t. Appreciate you commenting, at least there’s one honest person out there 😀.
@@campbellbuilt I don't get it either. I have seen Milwaukee tools break, Dewalt tools break, and so on. Things break.
@@campbellbuilt Going to give that Metabo HPT track saw a go. It has an interesting way of accepting various brands of tracks.
I got to be honest I didn’t know about the Metabo I’ll be checking it out.
@@campbellbuiltnew xgt sanders are coming soon that look like the Bosch cordless sanders
Would it cause problems if the journal moved when cleaning putting it back close to where it was and would it seat back to the exact same spot when bolted up ?
I’m assuming it would but Im cautious about telling you it’s okay without seeing it myself.
Looking forward to the rest of them, great video.
They will be coming
Ha! I thought it was a cool bird crap sticker! Man, you should sell those, and spray-on mud splatter from all the great trails.. Rubicon mud, Black Bear etc... Imogene...😂
Pressure and volume are two different things

NITECORE NWL20, identical design, removable 21700 battery, spot and flood, $34.99, I put a 6000 mah battery in mine, at 600 lumens that 6000 mah lasts a looong time
I have a few different fastback models that live in various pouches. This one lives on my small OX leather pouch with a sharpie, and mechanical pencil and a small knipix adjustable cobra pliers.
Usually butyl tape between vent and roof?
Awesome
Your tape idea was awesome! Thanks for making a great video.
Glad you liked it
Mostly going to use this in the spring, so being able to keep the box shaped unit stored on a top shelf is very appealing.
Operator error from start to finish
lol, "I see a hammer right there."
I like the fact that whatever mode you are using, when you turn it off, then go to use it again it's in the same mode and you don't have to toggle constantly. Plus if it's on more than 5 seconds it's shuts directly off, no toggling between modes.
This is a tool that works perfectly, I've used mine for over a year.. It is of the highest quality as far as construction is concerned. All functions work 100 percent. Imagine the time an engineering and manufacturing team went through to create an amazing tool only to have some one like this crap on the perfect tool you created. Buy it, you won't be sorry.
Legend thank you!
Hmm pro tip ladies latex caulk is water based and has a 55-60 year expectancy. Why would you deal with seem sealers Edit and its $3-4 a tube
Just installed a $5k ThermaTru impressions door with storm door built into the trim. This door came with the wrong side hardware to mount the storm door. Rep says that has been happening a lot
If could use a caulking gun properly you wouldn't need any product to clean up YOUR mess !!!
Was gonna say the same thing
Xylene may work better
Lacquer does just as well. Pretty much any fast evaporating petroleum product works for this
Why don't you just learn how to use a caulking gun and you would've have to mess with the mess.
