Welcome back everyone to The Sprinkler Channel! Subscribe to easily find all our tutorials on sprinklers. Today we are talking about the awesome seasonal adjust feature found on basically every sprinkler system controller, clock, or timer that has been installed in the last 10+ years (a guess, maybe it's 20+). Watch this video and get pumped to find out that you can change one setting and all your station run times will be changed instantaneously! Like magic but not, well, unless you don't understand how it works then I guess it is magic then. At any rate, you can be that magician simply by watching this video. Why not just watch it all the way through so you aren't back here watching it again later on because you skipped over a detail. Just throwing that option out there. The seasonal adjust feature is found on most brands whether it be Rain Bird, Hunter, Toro, Orbit, or any other control whether it be a smart controller or a regular sprinkler controller like this Hunter Pro-C one I am using for this video. If you have read this far in the description, high-five. ✋. Ok that is enough jibber jabber, let's get to watching and doing. Until next time, chau!

GREAT really GREAT EXPLANATION - Thank you for your expertise!
excellent video, thanks
Great explanation God bless you
I need to replace my old board date on it only goes to 2012. Was installed in 1994
Thank You for the help. I am a hvac contractor curious how my sprinkler system works. Pretty simple.
Having buried drip lines makes this process 3 times harder
You’re my hero. Thank you!
3:53 and there’s my limit! See ya!!👋🏼
For Pete’s sake - get to the point! 3:41
This was a great and helpful video no BS and long story right to the point. Thank keep up the good work.
Thanks for posting the video! I just bought the PGJ at Home Depot and it doesn't come with the Hunter Wrench. You can't buy one there either. Am I missing something here? I need this to adjust the sprinkler, right? People have stolen the wrenches off of the side of the PGP at the store.
Sad 😞 yes you need this
Sorry, I know your intentions were good, but you lost credibility when you improperly described the entire subject matter. You kept referring to adjusting the "Radius" when in fact you were describing the "Arc". The radius is a linear measurement as to how far the water is launched and the arc is the degree of circular motion. Both are important, but should not be confused. Otherwise, thanks for your attempt.
One of my zones is not working and i changed the solenoid. Any video about how to troubleshoot shoot it?
Meaning it’s not turning on? What is exactly happening or not happening? Most common issues is typically corrosion on wires where they are wire-nutted together in valve box. But there’s a lot of different scenarios or culprits. Nothing that comprehensive yet.
@@thesprinklerchannel yes the zone is not turning on.
Great explanation. This is what a UA-cam video should look like. 👍
Is it left standing in front of the arrow or behind the arrow?
Behind
Great vid, super detail, I had no idea there was a filter down in there, tysm!!
I could not understand this video. Use of the word ‘it’s does not help. I cannot see the top of the head and what was being done. Having a camera behind the instructor as if I was working on the device would also help. 😢
Would it be proper to dig a hole under the automatic drain, maybe approx 2 feet deep and fill it with gravel?
Definitely a great option
Probably doesn’t need to be very deep since drip is slow
"angle of spread", not "radius"
What gauge are those wires?
18 gauge I believe
@@thesprinklerchannel thanks
A great help! Thanks!
Mine is leaking from the radius screw even when turned off.😢
Sounds like it probably needs replaced
So since they are fixed for the left, how would you adjust it if the sprinkler head is too far left?
Rain Bird 5000 - 1 Last IMPORTANT thing! ua-cam.com/video/9FT89infihk/v-deo.html
yay! this resolved an open sprinkler issue with a new valve and solenoid. Crazy, must have been some debris or bad assembly, but it is working correctly now. Vendors blaming someone's controller should take note that it could be their valve. 😃
Nice job
Now a small leak at base of solenoid when any zone is on... after putting on a new solenoid snug. The old one was dead for the zone. But i dont know if the diaphram of valve could also be bad. I put the solenoid in tight.
Make sure the rubber o-ring that goes on the tip of the solenoid is on before screwing into valve. Also that the valve port is completely cleaned of any debris or granulars of dirt
Thanks for the follow up. I used a flathead and gave it one more good turn. That seemed to do it for the leak. All is working but strangely the solenoid doesnt test manually with counter clockwise turn or bleed screw but it works with controller as i need it do.
Thank you , best instruction on PGJ 's on youtube !
I have water leaking slowly out of the top of my Rainbird 3500.. and I watched your other video about slope issues and I think that is my problem. Can I use a check valve in my 3500 like you did on the Hunter?
Those check valves are only for pop up heads. Rotor heads typically have them built in but only will do a max of something like 7 elevation drop. The spring or seal on it might be getting work out and replacing it might solve the issue. You could just unscrew it and screw new one into existing body for easiest swap out.
Newbe question: The sprinkler head doesn't look like it has a lot of surface area to help it stay put in the ground. Are there collars of other devices to put around the sprinkler head assy to keep it in place? How about pouring a little concrete around the bottom of the base to help it stay in place?
If this sprinkler head is installed correctly with top of head flush with ground and soil compacted that will be sufficient.
@@thesprinklerchannel Thanks for your reply. I'll be sure to compact the soil really good.
Thanks! Your suggestions fixed our issues
Big shout out to nanetteramahi2095 for such a generous donation! 🙏 Thank you sincerely for that. I’m just happy the videos are helping people all around! And happy to hear it solved your issue.
Is it possible to switch a drip end for a small sprayer?
Yes
Great video if you only have one sprinkler. You wasted half of your video talking about how to snip and cut the jacket off of the wire instead of showing how to connect multiple sprinklers. You also don't mention which of the two solenoid wires to connect to the common wire or if it makes any difference, which some will be wondering.
Thanks for the feedback. Either wire, doesn’t matter, same set up for each valve with one of each valve all sharing / being connected to common wire. Time for an updated video:)
@@thesprinklerchannel Thanks kindly. Another welcome video would be which brands of rotator sprinklers have shutoff valves at the sprinkler head. The Hunter I20 is one that comes to mind.
excellent video. You made what was confusing, understandable.
Thank you
My cap came off how do I put it back? Looks like a screw is under there.
If referring to rubber cap, I think they come from factory glued on.
@@thesprinklerchannel I guess you have to screw it back on it's fix now. Thank you
My sprinkler wires look like Chinese noodles, and are faded to the point that I cannot tell their colors. I am unable to insert new wiring into the plastic conduit/pipe. I am thinking of cutting off a portion of the end of the wires near the stations, and setting up a plastic housing junction box, where I would join them with new wiring. Is this feasible to do?
Honestly, difficult to say without seeing. If there is space and enough length of wires then it seems like it would be.
You lost it at the angle adjuster
What can be done better?
How do I raise the angle of the spray to let it shoot higher (not further). I need to miss a close by shrub and don't want to move the shrub.
Difficult issue without creating a different issue. No great solutions. You can try raising it out of the ground if that would work and fix it to a t post. With pop up heads there are taller heads that can pop up over height of small shrubs but don’t know of anything with rotor heads.
@@thesprinklerchannel could I switch it out with a tall pop-up head? That is, disconnect it from the line and replace it with a standard 8 inch pop-up head.? or can you have pop up heads on the same loop as rotary heads?
Really great job, excellent video!
Nice one. Thanks.
Excelente explicación, muchas gracias
Thanks for your help. On to the next fix😊
Great instructions! I'm working on maintaining my system and adding tubing lines to plants. Thank you!
Yeah well my problem is after the google fiber trenching crews got done near my mailbox, my sprinkler head "start" point is pointing directly into my driveway and for the next 130 or so degrees rotation to the right is fanning out onto the driveway/street. I guess there's no other choice but to dig it back out and reposition it?
If left fixed side: Rain Bird 5000 - 1 Last IMPORTANT thing! ua-cam.com/video/9FT89infihk/v-deo.html
Imagine that you are looking at the face of a clock. Your left stop is set at 9 o'clock. But you want the left stop set at 11 o'clock. Tell us how to do that.
I want to say the minimum might be 70 degrees if I’m remembering correctly. But this video for left stop and then my other video for adjust the head.
How To Adjust the Rain Bird 5000 Sprinkler Rotor Head ua-cam.com/video/yk-YXfp2JHk/v-deo.html
Great start. It has its own adjustment tool
How do you adjust the sprinkler to go 360 degrees?
Very well explained.. Thank You-
So, to adjust fixed position, you pull out sprinkler head and rotate?
Rotate to right and then remove from body and reinstall.
