Thank you so much. Im a two week old novice at lawncare and i was able to fix 2 sprinklers that were clogged causing dry patches on my lawn! I feel so empowered right now😂
Keep rock’in it! Your comment empowers me to keep making videos that help people like you.
Didn’t realize how simple this was. I changed my rain bird nozzle to one that has 360 to get some dry patches. Thx.
Surprised you aren't using a nozzle pulling tool. Once you pull it up, you can clamp the pipe so it stays up and doesn't slip back in until you unclamp it. Best $10 I've spent on my sprinklers!
This video was helpful in understanding how the filter and the nozzles can be replaced. I have a couple that have this issue, I’ll give it a go and report the results! Thank you!
Just got done with the sprinkler repairs. Super easy to get it done. I ended up changing the nozzles on a few of them and I felt confident about what I was doing cause of the video. Thank you again, cheers!
I watched the video and fixed mine came out good.
Oh you just mentioned in your video. Thanks!
Thanks
Flush before installation!
Thanks for the video! a couple questions:
1) Can you buy filters by themselves?
2) Do you clean the old filters?
3) at the start and end, it seems like there's lots of water mist getting lost to wind. You want that? Maybe it isn't going as far as you'd like, but the nozzles before cleaning look like what I would expect - not an atomizing mist, but (small?) drops?
4) I have to check your other videos, but any advice on sizing the length of the extension / how high do you go with? the 4" seems to not get much above the grass (between head settling, curve of ground upward / heads are a couple inches lower near concrete than center area
5) and there's several versions of the 1800. base, sam, prs, sam-prs, sam-p45, P45. So confusing.
6) And the heads! Just for something as simple as 10H (10' radius half circle). they have HE-VAN, MPR, R-VAN (those look cute!), U (why would you not want to water grass close to the head?)
1.yes
2.no
3.wind will do that, full flow is what you want, pressure debatable - feel free to use pressure regulator heads
4.4-inch 1804 is standard, settings heads correctly are imperative
5.each have their purpose, I'd just stick with 1804 (base)
6.nozzles* lots of options, more videos about this coming
IF YOU WANT TO RAISE YOUR SPRINKLER HEAD HIGHER WITHOUT DIGGING A BIG HOLE. ,HOME DEPOT CARRIES A ITEM CALLED KAP IT... IT ATTACHES TO THE TOP OF YOUR EXISTING SPRINKLER HEAD AND RAISES IT 1 AND A HALF INCHES AND YOU CAN PUT TWO TOGETHER TO RAISE IT 3 INCHES.... COOL.
I am curious if you know if Orbit nozzles will work on Rainbird sprinklers? I went to Lowe's and I compared them. They seem very similar.
I am not sure actually. Have never tried. I’d try them in the store. They should have some pop up heads and you might be able to see if they will thread on correctly before buying.
All sprinkler nozzles in existence have the exact threads but toro uses male threads
Thanks
Whats the long term solution for a pop-up head that sprays in different directions at each watering? One that will not stay set.
You set it to spray North but during the next watering it pops up and sprays East. You reset it(clockwise turns) to spray North but it pops up and sprays West during the next watering. Etc, etc, etc
Interesting. Haven’t heart of one doing that. I would ensure everything is twisted tight with the head or simply replace it with a new one.
@@thesprinklerchannel Thanks
Ya, It's weird and that one Hunter sprinkler just pops up in a different direction about every other time. It waters great but just in the wrong spot LOL. I thought about taking it apart once and then seeing if it works correctly after re-assembling it. The system was installed in 2004 so I will just replace that head.
Hi! I just wanted to do the same with one of my nozzles. I accidentally dropped the body. It retracted. How can I pull this body back up without the nozzle on it?
Just screw the nozzle back on and then grab it again.
Hi!, how do I know what nozzle needs what filter? I’ve seen blue, clear and grey filters is there a difference?
All those are interchangeable- just different makers I believe.
Where can I buy new filters and nozzle heads
Your local sprinkler parts shop
My rear sprinklers have little pressure and won’t pop up all the way or not at all, what could be causing this?
Sounds like there is a break somewhere on that zone. Either pipe or head broken or if a nozzle came off. Walk around the lawn and find the wettest / soggiest spot and most likely there will be your problem. Let us know what the results are.
I just tried this and one of the sprinkler heads starts kind of spraying when I turn it on and then just stops completely. Why is that? Do I need to replace the whole head?
Clog again sounds like, check the nozzle, even a grain of sand can get wedge it the nozzles. Filters are the leading up cause to nozzles being clogged.
Do the Rainbird 5000 have a filter? I believe mine may be restricted with debris.
Thank you!
They do have filters but aren’t removable or replaceable. If you remove the head from the body and look at bottom that will be the filter intake. Just make sure that isn’t clogged.
@@thesprinklerchannelHave you done a video on the Rainbird 5000 filter intake? I have watched several of your videos, which are very informative and helpful. I bought a house with eight zones and don’t know a thing about the irrigation system. Trying to learn about the system so I can take care of most of the issues myself. Currently getting dry spots and some of the heads aren’t functioning at capacity. Thank you. 🌱💦
