Hi Abel, I am nearly 71 but I understand completely why you love doing what your doing. I remember my Dad saying after work, (come on were going camping) It was very exciting way back then. At the start of our camping, he only had a motorbike and a small tarp. But we did it, and it was great. Then he built a sidebar that looked like a mini caravan, and we loved it. AH! the biscuits! Me too, I already told ya that BUT,,,to dunk, what I do is break the cookie in half, fold, chocolate inward. and pres-bloody-toe! No choc on fingers, --good grip on outside... and last bit is crispy, cause that is what ya are holding! give er a try mate..
I can relate to camping in the rain and storms. It makes it a real adventure. Abel, you and me both. Nothing mad about going on an adventure and testing/pushing yourself. I luv your channel, you have given me so many hints and ways of doing things differently, has helped me be a better camper....! 😂 But leave those poor funny birds alone, it's you invading there space....! 😂😂😂

And all that carbon!!! It took me years to refine the baked spuds in the fire. Sometimes there was a tiny nucleus of cooked potato surrounded by a thick mantle of carbon. At some point my dad (dr) told me not to eat it.

Great camp Abel! Congratulations on becoming a father 🥰. I’m a Nana and what a joy. Piecing the skin on your potatoes keeps them from exploding when cooking. You can tell they are done when they are fork tender. You can pierce through the foil without unwrapping it to test.

First thing is congratulations to you and Victoria on the new baby. I’ve seen a couple of your videos which I’ve really enjoyed so decided to subscribe so I don’t miss the adventure. I camp quite a bit and last year one of my friends turned his potato into ash cooking it on the fire , luckily I had extra so he didn’t starve. I can’t believe how close that bird stayed around your camp, but stealing the butter was just wrong 😅. Can’t wait for the next one, stay safe and have fun.

The wood montage is one of my favorite moments the best one so far (based on the videos ive seen so far) is your wife just gently stacking the wood and each shot just has you in the background just flailing and slamming wood into the ground over and over

Abel, what an awesome camp. Really did feel cozy with the rock wall for your famous campfires. Being from Des Moines Iowa, I need to know what that tea was. Bal pier or something. Us Americans sometimes miss things on your accent.. What kind of milk or cream do you add? found the Hob nobs biscuits on Amazon so I can get those. Loved the sweet potato idea with onion rum mix. I was telling not to out them back in fire but that’s because I like the skin too…. Wagu looked magnificent. So excited for you and Victoria on the 20 week picture of baby. Thanks for sharing that with us. Loved this camp. Yay you had pancakes maybe not the butter but you had the maple syrup!!!! Thanks Abel!!
Great news about Victoria and the baby. Loved this camp especially the wekas. Those birds are funny similar to scrub jays we have here in Washington State. They steal stuff too. Looking forward to a snow camp in the near future. We're in late spring here but it has been cold, windy and rainy. Been using the wood stove in the house to take the chill off.

Also, yes you are correct, don’t feed the weka, tempting, yes, but for those outside NZ, Weka are protected throughout their natural range - the North, South and Stewart islands , and feeding them is discouraged.

Good pile of wood, chicken on the hoof, sweet potatoes, friggin ribeye, and a good shelter, who could ask for anything more? Oh, maybe the wife, of course. And some snow. Congrats on the healthy little one! Wekas, huh? The camp robbers of NZ, but more aggressive than the NA variety.

Double dunk is a must - chocolate facing inwards, let the chocolate melt slighty and enjoy your warm chocolaty, oaty biscuit.
Grab a creme egg, make a hot chocolate, grab a spoon, put the creme egg on the spoon and dunk until covered for around 40 seconds or so, and then enjoy a warm mouthful of a chocolate explosion.
