the first one was staged. the balls are hiding an existing rip in the cloth and they were going to recloth it anyway, you can see he grabs a specific spot on the cloth to rip it

I think they get along just fine but I see both sides of the argument. Technically speaking, Jayson is correct and I don’t know what transpired before this to escalate Jason so much. But if it was a game that a ref was closely watching Earl would have been called a foul, unless when he called the 2ball the ref may have had him clarify since it made no sense and Earl maybe could have corrected himself. I just realized I rambled a lot just to say that I believe Jayson and Earl our friends.

If you respect each other, you live with the decision because it's obvious/common sense. Citing the rules that kind of go against common sense in that situation is closer to cheating your way back to the table than an honest mistake. Love Jayson Shaw but this wasn't sportsmanship at its best. Ref made the right call imo and this exception should be added to the rules: a ref should only be allowed to call a foul when it's a failure to complete the obvious play THAT THE PLAYER IS AIMING FOR. That last part of the sentence eliminates this situation.
It happens, it’s just much more respectable. I’ve seen plenty of matches of Ronnie O having some tantrums and some disrespectful behavior, towards the game, his opponent, and the official, but it’s not a full fledged fit like this. Earl acts like a 5 year old not getting a treat or a toy anytime something doesn’t go his way. He should receive automatic loss of frame anytime he acts like this.

Some people have a low boiling point, but I love watching them, and I'm usually more annoyed by the people that over react, expecting them not to throw a tantrum, when it's something they have no control over. It seems worse in recent years, everyone is expected to behave perfectly, when we know that's impossible for some people. So often, the ones with uncontrollable tantrums are the best to watch, with abilities others can only dream of.

This is American Pool, which is where all shots need to be called. A simple solution to these issues is to get rid of the obvious shot rule. Cause is it obvious sure it is, but how am i as the opposing player going to assume you weren't going for a 2 rail into the side? That's the issue.

Rules are there for a reason. If you say 2 ball and shoot the 10 ball, it's a foul and simple as that. If you are so demented that you call the wrong ball, it's not your opponents fault.
Earl was a great pocketor of balls unfortunately the only billiard fans who will remember that fact believe in street fights in the billiard parlor. Earl is not super competitive, he's super confrontational. Every one of his matches in public should have a judge for every call and if/when Earl acts up, immediately is disqualified and escorted out by the Pool Sheriff.

I used to be Earl's fan but has now lost all respect for the guy. Fir his own sake, please don't invite him to these tournaments anymore. He just brings negativity to the game of pool.
I've never been a fan of Strickland, he cries about everything and is always throwing a temper tantrum. Yeah he may have won the US Open a few times but it's time to hang it up, it's just embarrassing at this point
For someone who was as talented as he once was, and probably still is, Earl’s attitude has been nothing but a black eye on the sport and done nothing but hurt the game. Sure it’s a draw to have him at events because people at this point just want to see him have his famous meltdown, but if I was a promoter/organizer, I would’ve banned him years ago. Mike is almost just as bad. Just a couple of whining, crybaby, mouth pieces.
Earl is just not entertaining to watch any longer. He's the AB of pool.
Earl even says “god how did i fucking do that” even when Shaw first calls foul, earl slams his cue and doesn’t say anything until he notices the referee didn’t hear anything then he changes his attitude and then claims he called 10. Rules are rules. Yes 10 was obvious but it’s called shot for a reason and he called the wrong ball even if it was an accident. Shaw says he got called for the exact same thing earlier in the match and he respected it, now earl does it and it’s not a foul ? You can’t play by two different rules.
Strickland is a poor unfair grumpy player. Since always. A sketch , and a bad one... 🙄
Jason and earl the two biggest cry baby’s in pool. This is why snooker will always be successful and this game will not.
