- When it comes to flying big massive cut broadheads not all arrows are created equal! Join me for a look at Big Jim’s Dark Timber arrows and just how they performed in the “Big Broadhead “ test! Big Jim’s Bow Company/ Dark Timber Arrows
One thing is as certain as taxes, and death is anything that big Jim puts out, makes, or puts his name on you can 100% guarantee it’s going to be quality.
Thank you for the video
Just wanted to give you a big thank you for all you do!!
I recently purchased a Cairn bow from 3Rivers and am loving it!! Your recommendations and information are invaluable to me.
Thanks for suggesting what arrows I should use. I believe I will use the specs you gave me and order Big Jim's Dark Timber arrows.
May God continue to bless you and all you do!
Bob
Thank you!
I've been shooting Big Jim's Dark Timbers for the last year now and they are absolutely phenomenal.
Good shooting and great set up. I can’t wait to see what you get this season. Good luck, thanks for the videos, very informative. God bless
Thanks so much brother God Bless!
Thanks Jeff for another great video
I like my Dark Timbers 500 spine also,100 grain brass insert/outsert with a 100 grain Mako weighing around..464 grains moving out at 164fps...44# @ 28" recurve..fly like darts..amazing accuracy. Cant wait till fall!!
That was impressive.
Just set some up with 75 grain inserts. And old 135 Bear stainless steel broadheads. Weigh 490 grains out of a new 59 Kodiak. Great setup on a 45 pound bow.
Oh man! That’s really cool! I love the old school setups just makes it special!
Great bow!
I have learned so much about arrow building from this channel. I gave the Big Jim 600's a chance and with a 42gr tip insert they are flying straighter than anything I have shot out of my 40lb longbow. For the price you can't beat em. They Are going to be my hunting arrow this fall, just need to decide on what broadhead to use.
I’d go with a Single Bevel 👍🏻
I love those arrows. I have a bunch of them. They are beautiful too lol I favorite color are 2 orange with one yellow and 2 chartreuse with 1 yellow feathers.
Great video, I done alot of testing last week during vacation, using the pointers you have been showing over the years. My Mountain Monarch, Thunderchild and PSR are set and I'm shooting the best groups with field points and broadheads since shoulder surgery back in 2020. The good lord let me heal and rehab really well.
Amen! Hunting season is coming up!
These arrows are amazing. Call me crazy, but i have yet to shoot an arrrow that competes with fleetwood arrows. They're affordable, and the 500s with 260 grains up front are phenomenal ..they just work..
Jeff two shows in one day, don't get any better and more exciting than this, put a 50grain outsert on that bad boy 350 up front , probably be 650 grains right, power 🚆 train brother , freight train drillers 😁
Great information as usual 👍
I reckon i got to check some of these out. I shoot a 250 great white with 400 spine gold tips 100 grain brass insert.
Glad the DT's worked for you, in the batch I had made up several sound like a 9/16 " wrench dropped on the garage floor, I cannot figure out why. And ALL of the feather fletching literally fell off the arrows! I have had to re-fletch every single one, very poor quality control.. I am going back to Traditional Only from 3Rivers..
You like all arrows. 🙂
The good ones anyway 🤣👍🏻
These will be the arrows 🏹 Going to the woods with me in 2024 😊
Can’t beat them!❤️
@instinctiveaddictionarcher8998 I just order half a dozen today 😊
Always impressed with your shooting. Im waiting on a mew great plains sr swift recurve at 45-46 pounds with matching arrows from them. Hope i someday am as accurate as you brother
If you shoot aluminum, 2016's will fly some fairly heavy point setups out of 45ish pound pull traditional bows. Heavy arrows with high FOC great for flight and penetration, but you have to keep shots close and aim low. My Bear Super Kodiak will only chronograph 130ish with that heavy of an arrow system. Those Shark type broadheads are pretty tough and cut a heck of a hole. I still have some old school ones that accept different weight, steel, screw-in inserts. They are shorter than those longer versions you have, but they cut 1 5/8 inches and can weigh up to 240 grains with 125 gr steel insert. I favor carbon steel blades because they are so much easier to sharpen. Don't great flying arrows make you feel good? It is fulfilling when everything comes together and the arrow flies like a dart to the target.
I shoot shoot 2016’s. Out of my 50 longbow. Thanks to Mr Jeff
@@vincentjenkins3677 I use 1916's for 35 to 40 lbs, and even 45 lbs (with a light point). I can shoot 200 grains on the front of a 2016 with 45 lbs. A 29 3/4 inch arrow with lighted nock weighs 560 grains. Great setup for accuracy and penetration. I know some trad archers shoot much heavier, but it slows the arrow down so much, I think 550 plus is a good overall weight.
Looks and sounds like a great arrow. Great price on a dozen compared to other carbon options out there.
Hopefully putting a deposit on a Thunderchild soon. I will get a dozen arrows with that too.
Your ready for beast or man
I have a 48lb bow o draw 28.5 “ so I would want my arrow 29”, would a 500 dark timber with same insert and head do good to with the arrow being an inch longer than yours?
Hey Jeff, I’m curious what length of feather your shooting with these big Simons, looks to be a 5”, and are you shooting a left helical?
They’re 4” and really flying them well!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It's good to see someone shooting lighter weight bows
What size lighted nock are you using in the Dark Timbers arrows. I want to order some.
They use a signature “S” nock because they’re actually a .245 inside diameter shaft 👍🏻
Surely you don't think he's manufacturing those arrows ???
@@allangilbert7011 no they’re imported but very good quality and priced affordable 👍🏻
@@instinctiveaddictionarcher8998 I do enjoy your videos
"Promo SM"
I don’t get anything from Big Jim for recommending the Dark Timbers just trying to test everything and give everyone a good option for their setup and they are really good arrows at a great price 👍🏻
