  • The Next Generation Light Anti-tank Weapon (NLAW), also known as the Main Battle Tank and Light Anti-tank Weapon (MBT LAW), and in Sweden known as the Robot 57 (RB-57), is a fire-and-forget, lightweight shoulder-fired, and disposable (single-use) missile system, designed for use by infantry. It was developed in Sweden by Saab Bofors Dynamics, and manufactured in the United Kingdom, primarily by Thales Air Defence.
NLAW eliminates even the most advanced tanks. It is best-in-class for dismounted light forces that operate in all environments, including built-up areas.
The NLAW is a short-range anti-tank missile whose characteristics make it sort of a hybrid. It’s armed with a powerful 150 mm High-Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) warhead designed to knock out Russian main battle tanks at short ranges.

I'm a Swede (woman). You shouldn't compare the two, Javelin and NLAW.. They're both excellent but they differ. Javelin weighs 15,9 kg and the missile weigh 7 kg. They go a looong distance, over 2 km and uses radar to fixate the target. NLAW weigh 12,5 kg and the missiles just under 6 kg. Much lighter and meant for guerilla warfare. Shooting range just about a km BUT have an advanced "seek target" function that doesn't have to do with heat or radar, you lock on the target and the NLAW does the rest. It explodes just above the tank, shoots the canon tower off and goes into the tank, presses it into the ground. 85% direct hits. BUT you have to be closer. Javelin is best at certain things and NLAW is better on other things. They work together. Don't compare them. It's rather obvious now what really changed the beginning of Putin's attack and that was the brave Ukrainians, trained for this, laying on the fields waiting for hunting tanks. And both Javelins and NLAWs did exactly what they were developed for. 🌻🇸🇪🌻🇺🇦🌻🇬🇧🌻🇺🇲🌻

What happens to the soldiers inside the tank if the tower is not blown off?

So how did they do in Ukraine? LOL! The Russians captured thousands of javelines and NLAWs and they don’t even use them. It looks great when they are used against a stationary card boxes, it’s a different story when they used at fast moving actual tanks.

@@sergeikhripun During the first 2 weeks Javelins and NLAWs hit and totally destroyed over a thousand tanks and both Javs and NLAWs work perfectly on moving targets. Javs use laser and heat detection and NLAWs use laser and PLOS. Both Javs and LAWs "hunts" the tanks down. NLAWs also has the OTA function. They both has perfect night vision. You must be RuSSian Sergei, since you don't know about how effective these weapons are.
However since the past 5 months Ukraine has used drones with grenades, bombs or missiles. Additional 1000 Z-tanks has been destroyed. Land mines has destroyed about 300 more Z-tanks.
And that are the numbers of totally destroyed tanks. (They exploded into shrapnels). Additionally 2000 tanks were damaged beyond repair. Also over a 1000 Z-tanks has been ceased by the Ukrainian people. Not just UA military. Ukrainian farmers has fetched abandoned Z-tanks standing in the woods, the fields or sometimes on roads /in city streets.
But now, if Putin will try a new offensive with tanks entering Ukraine there will probably be Javs and NLAWs again.
Good luck with that mr Putler! LOL, lol and lmao😂🤣👌

@@katarsett9384 I am actually ethnic Ukrainian, my last name is Ukrainian and the US/NATO have no business in Ukraine. They will turn Ukraine into another Middle Eastern country which they have destroyed and steal every single penny. The US politicians admit they don’t care about Ukrainian lives, their women and children and will fight Russia to the very last Ukrainian. It’s not a war between Russia and Ukraine but Russia vs Collective West. Ukrainians are used as con on fodder and useful idiots. The US/NATO would burn the whole county to the ground.

Yeah, I'd like to know what effect exactly this explosion above a tank does to it. Outside and inside. Is the explosion blowing the tank up? Cooking the occupants? What exactly does this do to the heavy armor on the top of the tank? I hope that one shot per tank takes them out. I wouldn't want to be inside one when this explosion goes off overhead.

@@tamiami34…..the NLAW explodes over the turret because the steel is thinner in that area. It also kills the tankers inside, especially if they have their heads outside the turret…..boom!!!!

nlaw is now battle proven in Ukraine as is usa javelin. altho nlaw much easier to use. Russia have proven what the west has known for years that the modern battle tank is a thing of the past. Tanks have uses on an open battlefield when used in conjunction with infantry and artillery to punch holes in defense. but use them like the russians have in columns on roads they are expensive scrap.

Yes, yes, you blow up plywood tanks well, and they burn well too - plywood after all. But if these ATGMs are so good, why is Russia still fighting on its tanks, and tanks have already been brought to Ukraine from all European landfills, and they all disappear somewhere and disappear?
