Pretty cool explanation although I was puzzled by your use of the word "accumulator" as that has a mostly specific meaning referring to the building or storing of a resource in a generic sense. It took me a moment to realize what you meant, but the term you'd want to use in English would be "Battery" to better convey the function. In any case you have a new subscriber!
Although in English we pretty much always use the word battery now, accumulator did used to be the generally used word. Back when people had radio sets as large as furniture they used to take their accumulator (a lead acid battery) to the local shop to swap it for one that was charged (then the shop would charge it and give it to another customer).
Yes you can. Its designed to be removed and reused. A few turn up on the UK civilian shooter market every now and then from training. However, it doesn't come with all the attachments necessary for immediate reuse on a rifle with picatinny rails.
Even if the launcher was reloadable, the missiles would require a packaging to make it protected for bumping into things. My assumption is that most of the electronics is in the missile itself, only switches, power, acog on the shell. Making it reusable would also make it heavier, handle wear of multiple firings. Firing would also be slower, now every NLAW carried can be fired at once (limited only by team size)
@@Felix3301 If you set it to top attack mode it flies above center mass and explodes when it detects a metallic object under it. Look up saab nlaw explained for a animation of it
Interesting video. I hate to say this, but what about OPSEC? Did your commanders approve this video? The NLAW is a fairly complex system compared to many other disposable/reusable launchers, but now that you showed me how to prepare one, I should be able to get it ready for action, and so do your enemies.
There is ton of videos in russian/ukrainian on how to do all the stuff thats on my chanell, thats also one of the main reasons why i started it, just to bring eastern stuff to western public. Yes. Every single one. One of the issues with putting it back into full production was that that model of ACOG was no longer made so adjustments had to be made for the newer ACOG sights to be used.
@@beesnakeable Think of it this way. Most longer range single shot AT weapons need a scope, and most will have a specially developed one specific to that weapon. The cost to develop and manufacture those will far outweigh the cost of putting a bulk purchased ACOG on NLAW (imagine the discount when you purchase 25,000 at once...). The genius of NLAW is that all the clever stuff is inside the rocket, essentially using the systems necessary to keep the rocket stable and accurate as a fire control system.
Me: Got a statement of charges for running over a million spliced Vietnam era DR-8 wire with my Bradley in 1990. Ukraine: $1000+ ACOG... Just toss it out.
NLAW is a shorter range AT missile. It was made for a British Army requirement to replace the LAW80. Essentially NLAW is the section level AT weapon, with Javelin as the Platoon/Company system. Making it reloadable would not really do anything apart from add a lot more weight, and remember its supposed to be carried around by infantry all the time. The tubes are cheap. the sights are cheap. To make those stronger for re-use would cost lots more and add more complexity and weight. The clever stuff is all in the missile...
The ACOG can be removed and with another part can then be used on a rifle. But remember this is a £20,000 AT round, so £1,000 on the optic (i.e. the thing that makes it hit) is not that big a deal.
