FIM-92 Stinger in Action | This Missile Destroyed Russian Su-25
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 бер 2022
- The FIM-92 Stinger missile is a MANPAD (man-portable air-defense system shoulder-fired) that specializes in taking out helicopters. Stingers have been around in numbers since the late 1970s. They were originally developed by General Dynamics and are now made by Raytheon Missile Systems. The Stinger can also target low-flying airplanes and drones, even enemy cruise missiles.
The Stingers can go after what is believed to be a force of over 500 Russian helicopters. Modernized Stingers have a proximity fuse that explodes the rocket near a target.
In a report, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Su-25 attack aircraft while participating in the special operation in Kyiv was “hit by a missile of a mobile air defense system launched by a member of the Ukrainian armed forces”. shot from the ground”.
Ukraine says it has shot down nearly 160 Russian planes, including 90 helicopters, since Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24.
Among the weapons the West has rushed to provide Ukraine in recent years is a significant amount of US Stinger man-portable air defense missiles.

Nice shooting Tex!
The rocket plumes out of these on cold days is just impressive.

whats the thing they take out of the launcher? the little battery looking thing? and why do they take it out?
afaik its a thermal-battery and some argon gas for seekercooling :)
but i dont know why they take it out so fast :D
It can continue to vent coolant and becomes very hot.
It’s a battery to power the missile and launcher. The reason they keep taking it out is to replace it, because the battery only provides about 45 seconds of power.
Edit: I’m not sure if the video shows them replacing it, but you can see that they need to replace them from all the other ones scattered all over the ground.
nobody cares that the soldiers are on the beach practicing safety measures for covid....but they do have some sweet weapons :)
Love using this in games like Battlefield 4 and Hardline.
There even better in war thunder and there actually realistic
@@panzerkampfwagenviiimaus3976 wtf there's no infantry in warthunder, how it can have stinger - an infantry AA weapon...

SU-25 manufactured in 1981 still in service, it is not a comparison. The Russians sent only old technique matching their enemies to be a little more even.

Some SU-25 survives stinger missiles and continue flying
What is that object they pull out and toss after firing?
Battery Coolant unit. It delivers power and cooling argon gas. Keeps the stinger missile heat sensor cold so it can better see the enemy. Lookup the Stinger Team Operations PDF. Yes, it exists on the open internet.
Questo sarebbe una arma che metterebbe in riga la politica italiana
Why do they rush to pull that thing out from the launcher and throw it far away? What is it?
Very good job
Thanks

Very guut
Why the BCU has to be detatched so quickly?
What's that little thing they are throwing down to the ground after the launch?
likely a lithium battery that can catch fire.
It's the Battery Coolant Unit that contains the lithium battery to power the unit for target acquisition and argon gas to cool down the seeker head so it is more sensitive to the target heat signature. The BCU is only good for about 45 seconds of use, and if the target can't be acquired and missile fired, the operator must insert a new BCU.
Very impressive How are they guided on the target ?

@@CaptainMartinWalker Hi thank you very much indeed I have the feeling that we live a transition from old ways to carry out wars to new ones Slow moving targets are too vulnerable
It could happen that a 50kUSD portable missile shot down a 200 times the cost 10 millions USD helicopter ... crazy
@@gino3286 bruv this is 1960s technology plus its these slow movers that are actually invulnerable since they barely show up on radar screen. Warfare always de evolves to ww1 trench warfare or urban warfare when it drags on

War is also very profitable (though horrible) business. Lots of money to be made.
I think that humans have also kinda tendencies to have wars every now and then. Unfortinately.
Un conto è allenarsi contro un drone che viaggia a 300 kmh e un conto contro un moderno caccia, con tutti i suoi sistemi di difesa.... questi razzi sono utili solo e non sempre contro gli elicotteri..... il resto sono palle!
Good take👍🏻

Even though the FIM-92 Stinger is available for Russian Su-25, it'll be useless for hypersonic missiles.

WOW THANKS.
Oramos por o povo da ucraninos deus ajuda está nação eu choro com muita tristeza
what is the thing they unscrew in a hurry from the bottom of the launcher once its fired?
The BCU. From Wikipedia:
To fire the missile, a BCU (Battery Coolant Unit) is inserted into the gripstock. This device consists of a supply of high-pressure gaseous argon which is injected into the seeker to cryogenically cool it to operating temperature, and a thermal battery which provides power for target acquisition: a single BCU provides power and coolant for roughly 45 seconds, after which another must be inserted if the missile has not been fired.
@@derLenno basically a battery that has to be taken out immediately after firing to keep the gun from being damaged
