These are so my colors!! The skinner blend makes me swoon. I have made this cane in the Aqua (of course) then made a pink/white and a dreamsicle orange white, all with a little pearl mixed in. Thank you soooo much Donna. You are a daily inspiration.
After about 20 years of "claying", You finally got me to create something combining cane and Skinner blend! This is so much fun, I've made it in three different colors, and they are All wonky! Practice, practice. Won't stop 'til I get it. Your Precision is Mind Boggling! Thank you!
Thanks for the extra bit about the Sarah Shriver technique... what a simple and clever solution! I so understand about the "lint" as I just lost my 2 cats to old age, they were long haired and I could always count on cat hair "inclusions"! I remember your swirly beads necklace from days gone by, very colorful, always reminded me of fruit stripe gum but of course that's really dating me! Lol
@@DonnaKatoArt thank you, they were only 15 but my previous cat made it to 22 so it hit hard. May yours have long and healthy lives! Btw, I'm a fellow Coloradan!
I am proud of you, Donna, for stepping out of your comfort zone! (Baby steps - remember, baby steps)!!! Because you did, it convinced me to do it too - and I loved it, even at my age!!!!! I just love watching and listening to you on your tutorials. Also, I am old enough and have been doing poly clay long enough that - like you - I appreciate people like Sara Shriver and Piers, Citizen Kane, KLEW(? - sorry about spelling on many of these), and many more! I took Mom to her 6-month check-up this morning and brought two of your books to kill time (she is 91 so it took a couple of hours). I loved looking back at the "old days." Thanks for coming on UA-cam. I love all of this!!!!
Hi Cindy! Yes, must step out of that comfort zone sometimes! Many of the old crowd are still busily claying, some left and a few passed on. The polymer clay community has been a sharing place, mostly. Big hugs to your Mom! 91, wow, you’re so lucky to have her still. Happy New Year! Hugs, D
Hey Donna, I just wanted to say you are such a great role model to me! I began my polymerclay Journey with your books and I've been so excited to see you are on UA-cam now. No matter how long are your Videos.. I love to watch every minute of them because you're such a great Artist! Thank you so much for all your inspiration! Please excuse me if my english is not that perfect (cause I'm your biggest fan all the way from Germany 😜) Have a great Christmas time with your beloved ones! Best wishes
So interesting that you comment on how fast you used to make, when you started. I was watching your pure economy of movement, where no action is wasted, in a mesmerising flow. So many of us 'pat' our pieces while we work.
To find a new tutorial from you is like Christmas or a birthday - such a great joy ! These are beautiful ! It is so educating to see how you handle the clay - you make it look easy ! Thank you for sharing !! And the " lint " - a hopeless case !!
You approach your PC tutorials like a scientist. You give the reasons why you do this or that. I have always wanted to do this style. I love the "torpedo" shaped beads. I've just done mine with plain stripes. Now knowing how to do this one opens a new door! I've only watched half of this tut right now but will finish in a min. Thanks Donna! Fabulous work as always!
Loved watching this video … learned so much… especially how to match up. Pattern on a bead when there is a gap… thanks again for all your work for. The PC. Community 👍💕💕
Love this aqua/seafoam color combination, refreshing and beautiful and this process is applicable to lots of color combos. Fabulous tutorial, thank you for sharing! 💚
I have read your book and admire your work but I wasn’t aware you have this channel until today. Wow! Amazing! Thanks for uploading this video - great skill!
I loved this tutorial cane, and the tip to bake the signature slice cane was perfect, because I forget to add the signature before bake a lot! LOL Thank you Donna ❤
WOW Donna! That was just wonderous to watch! It may seem simple, but it is so complex in its simplicity! Thank you so much for sharing your expertise! These are beautiful!
So pretty ! I love how you go into such detail in your tutorials. I think this may not work as well with a softer clay. I think a softer clay would get distorted and the lines would blur together a bit from just handling it. I think Kato is the perfect clay for this! Thank you so much for your time and for sharing you talent and knowledge !
You upload your videos always right when I get into bed and start to unwind from the day. Great timing for me. I've been making lots of candy canes and I wonder if this technique would make for more interesting candy canes. I think I'm going to give it a try.
Oh, I just LOVE this! Have you ever done these with translucent? I wonder what would happen if you did a coat of color shift pigment to the core bead and then topped with the striped Skinner blend layer with translucents. My gears are turning. ❤
Great tutorial. I love how you say goodbye and then come back with more, because I get to watch and learn more. If you see this, I have a question. Is that a marble surface you're working on? It seems the knife doesn't mar the surface? Thank you for these great tutorials. I just bought what I believe is your latest book. Not only is it beautiful but the directions make sense❣️
Hi Cynthia! I always mean to end but then frequently, something comes to mind and, well, time to return! Now, I am working on a marble patterned tile I bought at Lowes. It wasn't expensive. It is getting scratched but not a problem, just another trip to Lowes! Hugs, D
Do you have a Gallery of your past finished pieces? I'm new to You and I've heard you mention several past pieces and I have seen a few you've shown, but would love to see more. The Squiggly Necklace you've mentioned here sounds really interesting.
Okay, the best way is to make a pilot hole. Small needle! Then you can enlarge with a thicker needle to drill it after it’s cured. I will do a quickie tute. Hugs, D😊❤️🧑🎄☮️🎉🎄🎁

I could see these as ornaments on the Christmas tree. Love them.
Yes!!! And lightweight, no drooping branches (I have done those)…😊
Donna, your idea here is so simplistic and yet sooooo beautiful! Thank you so much! Love your creativity!❤. You are a wonderful teacher!!
I am learning so much from your videos and I thank you very much!
You are so welcome! I am very pleased! Hugs, D
Beautiful xxx

Isn’t that smart! Yes! So sorry about your cats 😔. If we’re lucky, we have them for a long time…❤️ hugs

Thank you, Sophie! I really appreciate your kind words and support. Means the world to me, kid. Big hugs, D
Donna, have you ever done a tutorial on blending colors-what colors make what colors, etc. If not, could you do that sometime?
Donna, your simple canes are classy.
Thank you very much! 😊❤️
I honestly thought that the cane would be more difficult to make. I love the blend!
So interesting that you comment on how fast you used to make, when you started. I was watching your pure economy of movement, where no action is wasted, in a mesmerising flow. So many of us 'pat' our pieces while we work.
I’ve been at this quite a while! Now, if I could just stop dropping things and banging the camera (iphone)…Thanks for your kind words!😊❤️
You’re such a great teacher, Donna. Thank you so much for sharing these precious techniques with us.
Thank you so much, Vee! Hugs, D

Interesting. These are pretty, love the color and design. I would like to make Christmas ornaments with bigger ones!
Go for it, Georgia!😊😊
I learn so much from you.

that would be a good candycane cane❤

You know, deb, I don’t. I have three books and lots on the internet but I just haven’t done it. Boo…😊❤️🧑🎄☮️🎉🎄🎁
Hey Donna How do you make the bead a bead? Would love to see how you make a hole without distorting the pattern on the surface? Thanks for sharing! ❤

hello Donna 😁 love your creative style 😍 could you please spell the name of the pin you used?
Tie tac! It’s a tie tac finding! 😊❤️
The halves would make nice hair clips..
They would, Jerry! ❤️
🥰👏👏👏
Can I ask if anyone on here can answer something for me? Where did she get her rigid blade from? I can only find flexible ones.
Hi! Here’s mine. prairiecraft.com/kato/KT-1NU.html
Now, other clay companies have their own, too! Hope this helps!
😊❤️
Disney, you know I tried three times to watch this video and they kept getting all these really long movie reels. Add’s coming up I finally gave up.

Sorry about that. You know we can’t turn them off. Yt outs them in, regardless. ☹️
