@@tristansmith2273 I'm talking about Battlefield 2 Project Reality. The foundation of Squad. If you haven't played Project Reality, you never played battlefield
Tips from veteran player 1. Don’t rely on camouflage too much, due to a bug in the game player models glow on maps with sunlight past 20m in game, use hard cover and realize that even 5.56 can penetrate through a layer of cinderblock wall, 7.62 can go through 2. 2. Despite rule 1, under certain lighting conditions such as on night maps, camouflage and muzzle fire exposure can mean life and death. Try to only shoot at targets you can ID and move under concealment and camo. 3. Due to rule 1, realize on maps where there is dense foliage and shade that hiding in a dark bush may not be safe as you think, try to hide in bushes and foliage that has some sunlight exposure to mask the glow of your playermodel. 4. As a Riflemen you are expected to die charging into obj’s. But don’t be an idiot and run right into arty dropping in front of an obj. Learn to hip fire with all weapons and your survivability in CQB will drastically improve. 5. Take the enemy’s flanks. If they take you out then try another flank, or take another route with more concealment. Run cover to cover. 6. USE HEADPHONES. This game is very reliant on sound to give you an indication on where enemy shooters are from, if you use your ears you can very easily (with rule 1) quickly ID enemy positions and take them out. 7. Never use box M60, just use the belt as you sustain fire for longer on a single belt, and the additional belt you get from resupply means you get 400 rounds vs 300 rounds from boxes. 8. When shooting you will tunnel vision, it happens to the best players. As such when shooting, try to position yourself so you are not exposed to lanes of fire outside your immediate line of sight. The white pips you get on the corners of the screen is a peripheral indicator, it allows you to detect movement on “the corners” of your characters eye. It’s very useful in CQB and tells you if someone is in your periphery. Use it. 9. Bullets can penetrate through a lot of objects, like walls in buildings, and MGS can go though the floors of objs as well, so when in doubt shoot the floor or ceiling. This is useful on Hue on E and D. 10. Direction of Napalm Strikes cannot be controlled by commander. If you see the nape being called behind the cap but the direction is over friendlies, maybe don’t yell at commander, he knows he fucked up. As far as tips for beginners this is one that applies throughout the game and addresses little know issues of the game such as the glowing character bug. You Epic boys need to learn in due time, but for now keep these tips in mind and try not to get killed.
in my opinion, the belt for the m60 is useful if you want to run and gun. and the box magazine is useful if you want to precise shooting (like you just want to burst fire and shoot people from far away).
I thought the glowing was a camo mechanic, like when you go into the camoflagued state (crouching, proning) the character doesnt glow or something like that
The HUD disappearing is not a bug. It’s meant to be in the game. I’ve never played the original Red Orchestra so I don’t know if that feature is in it but it’s definitely in RO2/RS1. Speaking of which, I highly recommend you play RO2/RS1, it’s still a great game and in some aspects it’s actually better than RS2. Great video man, it’ll definitely help some newer players out.
yeah I read a forum post about it being a bug hence why I thought it was, turns out it was a game feature. But thanks for the kind words none the less :)
The HUD thing isn't a bug you can just hit T again when you need it. When you switch firing mode it also shows up. Game looks much cleaner without the HUD but when you need it you won't have to go messing in the settings. One of the best things about this game.
Always put sound up. Not to deafening levels but enough to where you can hear everything around you. After a bit of playing you can tell the difference between a Type 56 and an M16, which is helpful for knowing if its enemy or friendly shooting. Also, your character and enemy characters will talk in their native language. IE, if you are reloading and your character says “Reloading, Cover me” enemies around you will hear that and vise versa.
Remember, MGs can fuck up most helis except the Cobra and Gunships. If you have a BAR or DP, you can actually damage those helis if they're 100 meters or closer. Also, you'll want to lead those helis with the RPG and MGs. Lead them by 1 - 3 heli lengths depending on their speed and range. If the heli is trying to land, wait for them to get 2m above the ground before opening up.
Just a fun fact for anyone. Back blast is real and very dangerous. In a normal gun, the recoil is contained (which is why you feel it). Rockets are just a tube that’s open on the back end. All the force of the rocket (which is a lot; a fucking rocket engine lol) has to go somewhere. So it shoots out the back. Rockets actually have no recoil, this makes a lot of people miss because they flinch expecting recoil when there is none (at least the ones I’ve used and know of). I’ve gotten rattled by being too close to a rocket firing without ear protection and it is... unpleasant lol
I'm terrible at this game, but it's so interesting. No longer do you have to rely on pure reaction time, now you have to use real strategy and patience.
What the garland has is a clip. The magazine is internal and is part of the gun. Clips are used to load magazines. On a AK or AR the magazine is detachable, you do not need clips. Cartridges are the brass or steel part of the ammunition that holds the gun powder.
Got the game a month back or so. Most of the tips here you will need if you feel intimidated by a hardcore shooter such as this one. My tip for you is stick with the game! You might have some bad matches here and there where someone uses the environment better than you do. But that's the great part about this game so can you. I improved immensely over the course of a few games but then again I have a lot of shooter experience having played every Battlefield since Bad Company 2 extensively. This is still a very different but worthwhile and addicting experience.

@tantwo it’s cool I just wanted to educate you that clips are little strips of metal that make reloading a gun or even a magazine faster such as the m14 magazine. And cartridges are Bullets with brass or steel cases with smokeless or black powder and contain a primer which ignites the propellant
Love that he types ARTY H3, but calls arty in on H5 hahah. Great video though, not just useful for the noobies, I'm level 58 and it's a good refresher.
Also another thing new players should know is this game DOES NOT have a kill cam (on vanilla servers at least). So if you go to a point and you get your head blown off once you go back you need to be careful because you have no idea where they are. Watch for muzzle flashes!
instead of a cartridge, call it a clip :) a cartridge is usually a singular piece of ammunition, a clip is like a magazine but not enclosed, and held together by a small piece of metal, also it doesn't have a spring. pretty much everything else is a magazine.
For the Garand, it is called a clip. Cartridge is an individual round. Difference between a clip and a magazine is that a magazine has moving parts (ie a spring) and a clip does not. Confusingly though, the M1 Garand has an internal magazine (the internal chamber with the spring that pushes up the ammo) that you insert the clip into.
Got the game yesterday... Was capping an obj with 5-8 other people... Friendly commander called an arty on us and killed all of us... Some commanders don't understand the purpose of recon
happy you got the game, and I mean it wasnt really the fact he didnt use recon but more so he didnt hit the arty behind the obj to stop enemies from coming onto the point
Going Prone isn't gonna save you from Spooky, your best bet is to get under something sturdy like a 2 story building because the spooky can shoot through weaker material. your best bet is to crouch to make yourself a smaller target and then run like hell out of the fire mission area or to the nearest impenetrable roof.
The "M1 Garand bullet thing" is a n Ammo Clip. though many people use Clip and Mag interchangeably. They aren't the same thing. A clip is basically just a few exposed bullets on a metal rack that is designed to be pushed into a semi-auto or bolt action rifles rifle like the M1 Garand or Gewehr 98. A Magazine is a Re-usable, closed housing for bullets that feeds bullets into the chamber with a spring, and its what you see on M16s, and FALs.
As a squad leader, you can use the binoculars and that is a powerful tool against the enemy who you don't know where are they. so instead of trying to pick a shot with no sight of the enemy then use it.
I’ve noticed when I join a squad that already has a few players in it, It would automatically make me Squad Leader the second I spawn despite my low level as I am a new player. Anyone know how to turn this feature off or is Squad Leader just randomly assigned?
If your commander tells you that they called fire support and to check your maps. CHECK YOUR MAPS. artillery 60m away is safe. Any closer you risk it. Ive been kicked from too many games where people keep rushing into my fire support.
yeahhhhh thats happened to me I'm like "NAPALM COMING ON SITE DO NOT RUSH IN, IF YOU RUSH IN YOU WILL DIE" what do people do? they rush in and they dont even have the kindness to forgive me for the team kill lol
@@Tantwo you don’t have to hold it, just press f when you walk up to it. It’s mostly used as anti-air, since it is devastating to all of the helicopters in the game.
Back blast is real, it happens when a recoiless rifle is fired because in order for it to be recoiless it needs to have an open back to let the rush of powdered gasses out, those gasses come out with so much force that it can knock your legs of you know because it’s a fucking rocket, if it had a closed back you would be knocked back 20 feet or something.
So you're saying I can't pull out my laptop out of my backpack and call in and control one of the most powerful air-to-ground attack aircraft in the world as a bush camper with a sniper?
Great video!!! @Tantwo. Very helpful for beginners. I missed that free grab though, but thinking about purchasing it. Do you highly recommend this game? I like more tactical, realism shooters, is the game feel close to that?
if we were to compare it to ARMA, then no it isn't like that. Its realistic in the sense that weapons handle fairly realistically, getting shot at feels real as you get disorientated and affects ur aim.If you are playing on a server that speaks your main language (I play on AUS servers) then most of the time the commander is giving orders being fairly tactical but this doesn't happen all the time. Since you missed the free sale, buy the game on steam, play a couple of games and if you don't like it you can always request a refund but overall I guarantee you will have so much fun with it. Also thank you for the kind words means a lot :)
Tip one: hide Tip two: throw grenades at strange sounds, better them then me Tip three: shoot until your certain, better them then me Tip 4: Playing white rabbit, the doors, classical, or soul is always better then more ccr. Tip 5: Charlie is everywhere, GI wirr kirr you befo you see hem
Man the first shot I hit with my revolver was about 50m. Also I choose to enable manual reload for bolt action rifles which is great if you use your rifles for sniping
you have to be the commander, you have to be lvl 25 to be one I think, but make sure to read or watch a tutorial (i've done one) on how to play the role cause otherwise ur team mates can become toxic
for the love of god. it isn't hard. Tiny little piece of metal with bullets : clip box of bullets that goes in the bottom of the gun : magazine the m1 Garand (gare-and) uses CLIPS of 30-06 munitions
Yeah, Tip 7...Except 99% of the commanders don't give any orders. Everybody's running around, 0 coordination. I'm level 14 so I cannot be commander but I'm working my ass off to get command as soon as possible
the T for Tactical view is not a bug,...you dont need the HUD all the time, press it only when you need it.i have my tactical set to 2 second,so when i need it it pops up and then it disappears,so its nice and clean
i love the realism of this game (not the graphics), but im so shit at spoting enemies, i havent seen a single enemy since i started playing this game, and i have died a lot of times
my advice would be too take things slowly, and squint ur eyes to see into the distance, even blind firing is a good strategy because you might get lucky and hit someone
Hey, what if nobody talks or even gives orders? I'd really like to cooperate with the squad and the team, but nobody says anything, are there any servers where people speak more?
@@Tantwo that's a good advice. I wish I'll find some good squad, playing alone is so boring and frustrating, I'm a newbie so I'm not good as a lone wolf XD
The HUD thing is not a glitch. That's how red orchestra has always worked. It's meant to immerse you but give you the option to have the HUD show for when you need it. Also keep an eye on antimatter's new upcoming game, '83
yeah I didnt know that when I started cause I read on the forums it was a glitch hence why I thought it was especially considering the game had been abadoned by the devs for some time
I was really bad at the game and then I tried turning down my graphics to lowest because I heard that it makes people easier to spot. What it does is apparently give everyone the default clothes and it reduces the amount of foliage. The most important one is the foliage. Pretty much no foliage will show if they are more than a few meters away. This makes enemies way easier to spot and sometimes it will make it so you can see them and they can’t see you. I did this and suddenly I started getting way more kills. I mean I’m still shit at the game but I am much better than before.
This is video is old and pretty shit in terms of quality my new stuff is better

30 seconds in and I've already been triggered by the War Thunder background music at the start hahaha
lol not WT its Battlefield 2 ua-cam.com/video/_v4n6srZxDY/v-deo.html
newbie be like : im gonna pick marksman and get 0 kill
so annoying...
I started guerrilla and I got 13
You forgote the shift button give you more accuracy. = prone gun , the same effect
instead of a cartridge, call it a clip :)
a cartridge is usually a singular piece of ammunition, a clip is like a magazine but not enclosed, and held together by a small piece of metal, also it doesn't have a spring. pretty much everything else is a magazine.
thank you for this!
@@Tantwo no problem!
2:03 the common pronunciation is Ga-rand. However John Garand was from Canada, and kept his gar-und pronunciation.
2:18 enbloc clip
thank you!
Garands and revolvers use clips. If the "rounds" or cartridges are contained, it's called a magazine. Hope that helps.
10:25 a guy team killed me in OUR GODDAMN SPAWN. Didn't even said sorry
yeah that happens unfortunatly :(
Currently watching this while waiting for my game to download (picked it up on the Autumn sale).
glad you got it man, hope you have a good time
@@Tantwo Appreciate it, that and the video, helped a lot in my first matches.
IRL, people actually mix slug and buckshot in shotguns all the time. Theres a thing called a "select slug drill"
As a squad leader, you can use the binoculars and that is a powerful tool against the enemy who you don't know where are they. so instead of trying to pick a shot with no sight of the enemy then use it.
Another tip is to put the map button on the "tab"
I’ve noticed when I join a squad that already has a few players in it, It would automatically make me Squad Leader the second I spawn despite my low level as I am a new player. Anyone know how to turn this feature off or is Squad Leader just randomly assigned?
I'm not sure I was looking for a solution because its annoying automatically being assigned that role so often
@@Tantwo it's fine man,I end up just going squad-less for those few specific times I'm assigned SL. Thx for the RS2 vids
I get that too, super annoying, sometimes leaving and rejoining the squad does the trick but not always
Nice video!
How did you move the DShK?
you have to hold down the F key when you are using it
@@Tantwo you don’t have to hold it, just press f when you walk up to it.
It’s mostly used as anti-air, since it is devastating to all of the helicopters in the game.
Tip for vietnamese forces: if your character shout luu dan =grenade
holy shit thats a good one
Imma remember that
Back blast is real, it happens when a recoiless rifle is fired because in order for it to be recoiless it needs to have an open back to let the rush of powdered gasses out, those gasses come out with so much force that it can knock your legs of you know because it’s a fucking rocket, if it had a closed back you would be knocked back 20 feet or something.
My only tip that I can add to this list is to play fortunate son every helicopter ride
I will be sure to remember that number, thank you so much :)
I downloaded and can’t play it. It says a error about the program I downloaded
yikes can you delete the files and re download?
That's the fucking virgin easy anti cheat hate when that happens
So you're saying I can't pull out my laptop out of my backpack and call in and control one of the most powerful air-to-ground attack aircraft in the world as a bush camper with a sniper?
yes.
@@Tantwo but I want my ac 47 spooky to make big scary lights and go brr :(
Great video!!!
@@Tantwo Ok, sounds interesting. I can try it out on steam for sure. Thanks again for the help and guide.
Hold shift while you’re shooting, it mitigates recoil and it’s especially useful on automatic weapons :)
Nobody else seems to be pointing this out. Amazing tip. Hold friggen shift.
Tip one: hide
Tip two: throw grenades at strange sounds, better them then me
Tip three: shoot until your certain, better them then me
Tip 4: Playing white rabbit, the doors, classical, or soul is always better then more ccr.
Tip 5: Charlie is everywhere, GI wirr kirr you befo you see hem
I wanna say thank you for 4:27 the music threw me back to being a young kid playing bf2 the classic bf2 whereu fight iran and china and shit
You actually keep the clip of the m1 garand now
With the M1 specifically I think it's called a "clip"
Man the first shot I hit with my revolver was about 50m. Also I choose to enable manual reload for bolt action rifles which is great if you use your rifles for sniping
How do you call support in air?
you have to be the commander, you have to be lvl 25 to be one I think, but make sure to read or watch a tutorial (i've done one) on how to play the role cause otherwise ur team mates can become toxic
for the love of god. it isn't hard. Tiny little piece of metal with bullets : clip
box of bullets that goes in the bottom of the gun : magazine
the m1 Garand (gare-and) uses CLIPS of 30-06 munitions
its almost as if I don't live in a country with school shootings that has no need to learn about firearms lmao
6:33 Was that a voice crack Tantwo?
it was lol my voice likes to embarrass me from time to time
@@Tantwo i understand that
@@Tantwo mine too
Yeah, Tip 7...Except 99% of the commanders don't give any orders. Everybody's running around, 0 coordination. I'm level 14 so I cannot be commander but I'm working my ass off to get command as soon as possible
I uninstalled that game a while ago because the ping was always bad. Has that been fixed?
Should be fixed, the Ping got worse because of so many players and it tepends on the servers.
It got fixed just make sure your on a server near you when you join a game
I just learned it's free on epic when I paid like 25 bucks for it on steam I am dead
offttt
"All you have to do is stay alive" yeah..
About the RPG thing, if you stand behind an anti tank weapon in real life, you definetly die
I bought this game, I ain’t no bitch.
for the Garand the "cartridge" is called a clip
Really good video. Deserve more subs for sure keep it up!
Much appreciated!
Why I can't join a game and I don't have a server all blank? Ty.
if you have it from epic games, it's a bug try restarting the game
Make sure Ur epic launcher is on in background launch game from Epic.
Got this from steam and have same problems and restarting doesn’t help
@@thatamerican2848 Make sure you dont Have The beta version of The game
5:54 Yes, you can be killed by back blast. Yes, it has happened.
I like the this is war in the background
the T for Tactical view is not a bug,...you dont need the HUD all the time, press it only when you need it.i have my tactical set to 2 second,so when i need it it pops up and then it disappears,so its nice and clean
Dam didn’t know that. I remember reading somewhere that it was a big cause it kept on annoying me but thanks for the heads up
@@Tantwo sure thing
i’ve been only playing this game a couple weeks and this guy didn’t figure out the T key? wow
That AC130 clip made me laugh ahah
Also I don’t listen to the commander if they use chat. Not because I chose not to but mainly because I don’t look at chat that often and I use the mic
Going free again on the 3rd to 10th
Personaly i like the sniper class the most
what is ur favourite sniper?
@@Tantwo M40 altough it is not the best
The clip of the M1 Garand is called an enbloc
i love the realism of this game (not the graphics), but im so shit at spoting enemies, i havent seen a single enemy since i started playing this game, and i have died a lot of times
my advice would be too take things slowly, and squint ur eyes to see into the distance, even blind firing is a good strategy because you might get lucky and hit someone
Thank you, but i have some problems with resolution
Thanks dude, cheers 👌💯
No problem 👍
Imagine thinking that's a bug. 80 IQ moment haha
2:29 its called en-bloc clip
great one! 😉👍
One slug and one buckshot
Im gonna have to try this in DayZ
Hey, what if nobody talks or even gives orders? I'd really like to cooperate with the squad and the team, but nobody says anything, are there any servers where people speak more?
make sure ur playing on english based servers, like USA and Aus
@@Tantwo that's a good advice. I wish I'll find some good squad, playing alone is so boring and frustrating, I'm a newbie so I'm not good as a lone wolf XD
@@bruceketta856 honestly if you don't have a team who communicates, its best to lone wolf it
When you hear the ping, make your ak sing.
The m1 garand takes clips

Bought this game, cannot load into a map, it makes me wait a long time and then sayhs connection lost to server.
Tip #10 is my favorite
after 2 years its free on epic agian and i can play :)
Yes many rocek luncher's have back blast that can burn your skin if you too close
The HUD thing is not a glitch. That's how red orchestra has always worked. It's meant to immerse you but give you the option to have the HUD show for when you need it.
Also keep an eye on antimatter's new upcoming game, '83
yeah I didnt know that when I started cause I read on the forums it was a glitch hence why I thought it was especially considering the game had been abadoned by the devs for some time
Can i apply to your server but im from philippines but i can speak english
I was really bad at the game and then I tried turning down my graphics to lowest because I heard that it makes people easier to spot.
What it does is apparently give everyone the default clothes and it reduces the amount of foliage.
The most important one is the foliage. Pretty much no foliage will show if they are more than a few meters away. This makes enemies way easier to spot and sometimes it will make it so you can see them and they can’t see you.
I did this and suddenly I started getting way more kills. I mean I’m still shit at the game but I am much better than before.
I only played the game for 2 days bought it on steam
do you still play it?
Yes
Want to play it tomorrow
@@toxicmlnk4843 I might be able to depending on time zones and whatnot add my steam stealthy_tanto if you haven't already
Ok be on at 2 or 3 because of school work
